Seek Out the Spark

#DailyCalm with the Calm appToday’s meditation was ten minutes long, and was a #DailyCalm session from the Calm app. It was a breathing exercise session which also discussed that with the new year upon us, how important it is to keep ourselves open to new experiences, opportunities, and possibilities. Although change can be challenging and scary, it also paves the way to new and exciting things. Today’s meditation encouraged that openness, reminding the listener that it’s only through being open to change that we can discover new and exciting pursuits to enjoy, people to love, and potential successes waiting for us to claim as our own.

The Wild Life Tarot Knight of Wands and It's Going to Be Okay 2024 Day-to-Day Calendar by Kate AllanDaily Finding the Positive Mental Health Exercise

Today’s draw is the Knight of Wands with the affirmation “You deserve lots of beauty in your life.” The Knight of Wands is an active card, reminding us that we have to take action to go after our dreams, that they won’t just fall in your lap.

Combined with the affirmation for today, the message here tells us that sometimes it may be hard to identify the beauty in life, but that doesn’t mean that we give up and decide that life is ugly and that’s all there is.  It means that when life gets cold and ugly that we must strive for more and actively seek out those things that we enjoy and those passions that drive us forward.

Don’t just lie stagnant and let the cold seep into your bones… keep moving and seek out that spark that makes life interesting.

@Lionharts #TheJanuaryTarot 2024 January Initiation Prompt
Question for January 1st
: In the silence of new year’s dawn, what am I guided to initiate?

The Wild Way OracleReading Summary: When you work at building trust with yourself and with others (the connection of the chain between the two birds), your life then grows to feel filled with an abundance of stability (the dam).

Take Away: At this time you need to work on initiating your own self-awareness, as well as making sure that you are setting aside time for others. You have many who trust you that need the stability of your presence.

Being trusted and trustworthy takes hard work and perseverance. It’s built over time through honesty and authenticity. You need to put in time as well as effort. Time with others so they see who you truly are over a long period, and the effort to always be genuine in the face you present to them and the world, no matter if times are good or if you are struggling and vulnerable.

#DiscordTarotholicsJan2024 Challenge Prompt
Question for January 1st
: What in your life needs started now for it to be ready when you need it?

The Wild Life Tarot - The Hermit, The Devil, The StarReading Summary: Prioritize positive thinking and optimism (The Star). That needs to be your goal from the start of this year. By starting now, you make a habit of it by the time you begin to get temped by depression (The Devil) to retreat into yourself (The Hermit) and fall into the darkness.

Take Away: Depression is a constant theme of concern in your life. A possibility that requires no event or trigger to rise up and wrap itself around you.

By focusing on the positive, and counterbalancing your natural pessimism with an effort toward optimistic thinking, you help keep your depression at bay, as well as lessen your depression’s strength and effects when it cannot be avoided entirely.

I pulled not just today’s cards, but also tomorrow’s, so that there will be one less thing on my plate tomorrow when trying to get packed and on the road back to home.

A Lesson In What Not To Do

The Spirit of Flowers Oracle - Knave of SwordsToday’s meditation was ten minutes long, and although I did it and remember doing it right up until the last few minutes where she starts talking? I fell asleep somewhere near the end and missed whatever the message was completely.

Today’s draw is the Knave (aka Page) of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s intelligence, education, thoughts, logic, and communication.

I feel like my little blood sugar scare today pretty much just swallowed my day up whole.  There was a lot of stuff that got done today, and yet… it’s that last little bit that takes over the entirety of the day somehow.  The Knave is about learning, taking past experiences and carrying them forward to begin again.  The message here?  Don’t fall back on old habits… learn from your mistakes and don’t forget them. They’re useful in keeping you healthy and safe.  Let this experience today be a lesson in what not to do.

I just did the card of the day today instead of all the readings I had planned.  A little break.

Our teachers (in life) come in many forms. A teacher can spring into our lives from any corner at any time, and if we’re open we can receive teachings from many sources.

Buddhist proverb: When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

Our guides show up in unlikely ways and places. To recognize them, we must simply be teachable, and stay receptive.

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long, and focused on releasing resistance so that we may learn the life lessons that are given to us.

Often, when opportunities to learn and grow come along, we have a habit of resisting and fighting against change. This inclination casts these learning opportunities and lessons in a bad light because they remove us out of our comfort zone.

The meditation today focused on learning to go with the flow of these moments and looking forward to where they might take us instead of resisting the flowing river and stubbornly fighting against the current.

Two of Wands – Making plans and plotting a course is allowed, and in fact, encouraged. Lately in life it’s felt like whenever plans are made, they’re dashed onto the rocks of chaos, but don’t let that keep you from making those plans.

By plotting a course, you keep yourself in a constant state of movement and progress, even when setbacks happen or the winds of change blow through and cause you to need to adapt or abandon those plans for new ones. The activity is not fruitless, even if it seems sometimes like it might be.

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was about. It had something to do with the living in the present moment, but I just don’t remember.

Wheel of Fortune – Life is a roller-coaster, and that’s what this card is all about. We have ups and we have downs. Sometimes things feel like they are moving too fast, and at other times slow enough we can finally catch a bit of breath. The reminder here is that when those times come when things allow you to breathe? DO IT. Don’t take those moments for granted, for everything is temporary, and we need to savor the good when it’s accessible for us to do so.

There was no meditation today.

Six of Pentacles – Unlike the scales in the justice card, these scales are all about the haves and the have nots. This card is about generosity, charity, and evening the playing field between the fortunate and those that need help. It asks us… what can we do to help those less fortunate to us? And how can we be open to help from others when we need it, instead of allowing our pride to get in the way?

Finding the Positive Message for May 23rd – 25th

May 23

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long (with an extra three of minutes added in on the end of just quiet breathing exercises). The topic for today was about holding space for others, and how sometimes just being an ear and saying nothing is enough. Not everyone is looking for you to solve their problems when they choose to share them with you. Sometimes? They just need someone to listen… to hear them… to see them and what they’re going through.

The Nine of Cups is about emotional satisfaction and satiation, although you couldn’t tell it from the grumpy ass dude on the front of this particular card. In fact, he looks far from pleased. The traditional meaning of the card combined with its imagery tells us that it’s only through paying attention to what you have that you can find happiness. Whether pauper or prince, everyone has good in their lives that, when focused on, can create a sense of happiness and well-being. Instead of letting what isn’t satisfactory drag you down, seek out those things that will lift you up and wipe that scowl off your face.

Today’s meditation was 10 minutes long, and was about emotions and a defense mechanism that I am extremely familiar with and still struggle not to fall into from time to time. That is, the habit of locking down one’s emotions and burying them instead of dealing with them. My emotional intelligence is severely stunted from this practice, and I’ve been working over the past few years to not do it. Yet even now, I still end up falling into the habit when under a great deal of stress. The meditation for today encouraged opening up and allowing us to -feel- our feelings, even the bad and uncomfortable ones, so that they can be acknowledged and fade rather than sticking around under the soil to fester.

For today, Judgement is a reminder to check in with yourself. Bare yourself and allow everything to be seen so that you can decide if you are still pleased with how things are going on your life path and with the person you have become… or if there are some changes that need made to re-orient yourself. In my path, self development is an extremely important factor. Becoming a better person is part and parcel to where I want to go and the person I want to become. This card is a reminder to check in with those goals.

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long, and I remember -doing- the meditation, but I can’t for the life of me remember what it was about. The quote for the meditation doesn’t ring a bell for whatever the topic might of been. I -did- do it tho, regardless.

The Devil card is all about temptations and being drawn down the path of self-destruction. It is a reminder that there are fun things waiting for you, but you have to get your work done and responsibilities taken care of first. Don’t let yourself get distracted, and you’ll find your work done and plenty of time to play as well. Distractions will only cut into that fun time at the end of the day, though. Don’t let that happen, no matter how hard they try to tempt you away before you’re done.

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long, and once again… I cannot for the life of me remember what it was about. It wasn’t about risk-taking (regardless of the quote they provided for the day), but I think it had something to do with one’s comfort zones.

Page of Pentacles – You need to work on getting comfortable again in your own space. Home is a sanctuary, and it’s one you worked hard to make yours. Having been gone for a time, it’s natural to feel a bit of awkwardness re-entering that environment. Take your time and settle in, re-acclimate and become comfortable once more. Stop looking over your shoulder anticipating the next shoe to drop.

May 21

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long and focused on being in the present. It encouraged touching base with where your mind is throughout the day and drawing your thoughts from the past and future back to the present is, for its in the present where life is happening, and musings on the past and future often distract us from what we could be experiencing in the present moment.

The Star is about hope and optimism. It is a reminder of that old parable about feeding the wolves within.

A grandfather is talking with his grandson says, “In life, there are two wolves inside of us which are always in battle. One is a good wolf that represents things like love, kindness, and bravery. The other is a bad wolf that represents things like fear, hatred, and greed”.

The grandson stops and thinks about this for a second, then he looks up at his grandfather and asks, “Grandfather, which one wins?”

The grandfather replies, “The one you feed.”

Although pessimism and negative self talk are your natural inclination and a habit that’s hard to break, it’s important to feed that part of yourself where the optimism and positivity live. When you do so, that is what flourishes, and it helps you see the world in a different and more positive light as a result.

May 22

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long (with an extra couple of minutes added in on the end of just quiet breathing exercises). The topic of the meditation was about how our thoughts often intrude when meditating, and how dealing with these thoughts doesn’t mean banishing them, but in acknowledging them and in doing so “popping” them like bubbles. By acknowledging, you aren’t lingering in them, but more just not ignoring.

King of Wands – This king’s domain is one of passion and interests, and he rules over not just our enthusiasm, but over our values, principles, and mores. In the king there is stability and the strength to lead others, and this card is a reminder today to show the world what matters to you… and in doing so you inspire the world to follow your example and be true to themselves as well. Don’t be shy about showing who you are… for even the parts you see as flaws have the potential to inspire others.

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long and was focused on finding balance and the Swedish term Lagom, which means “not too little, not too much”. The meditation was a reminder that test and play are not occasional treats that you give yourself, but an important part of finding happiness and balance in life.

Today’s card is the Knight of Wands, which is often about taking risks in order to pursue one’s passions. It is a reminder that it’s okay to be careless and carefree sometimes when in pursuit of things that bring you joy, and light up that inner spark of interest and enthusiasm within.

May 18

No meditation today. I may try to do a bit in bed, but I’ll probably just crash out into sleep. It’s usually much better for me if I do it in the mornings.

Eight of Pentacles – This card is traditionally the “hard work” card, and is about putting your nose to the grindstone to demonstrate and enhance your skill over time. Practice makes perfect, and in the Eight of Pentacles there’s a theme in having put in lots of time and effort, and being prepared to put in that much more. For me, the illustration in this card shifts that theme to one of balance. The bear is an indication of the bears play that Gideon and I have been doing of late, and the balance in my life that that play helps create by giving me somewhere to be small and soft instead of always “on the ball” and “on task”.
Balance is important… and that’s something I struggle with. Today’s card is a reminder of how important that balance is, and how I need to allow a place for that softer side so that I can find that balance… even when I really want to just plow forward regardless of my own needs.

“The goal of practice is not to fall asleep, but to awaken.” Today’s meditation was eleven minutes long, and was focused on presenting a number of techniques on how to stay awake and alert during practice instead of allowing the fuzz of pre-doze to take over. It was a reminder that although meditation is meant to relax you, it is also supposed to help one find clarity, rather than the fog of drowsiness.

Justice – Cause and effect is the theme of the day. Be a good boy, and good things will happen. Fuck up? And you’ll pay the consequences. There is no waiting on results either, and that can be a good thing. No waiting means no guess work. Just true responses and true results.
