Weekly Creativity Prompt – Happy Endings

Draw up to three cards from your deck and use them to tell a (real or fictional) story with a happy ending.

Tarocchi dei Celti

La Torre – There was once an old man who was always too worried about what others thought about him and it caused him a lot of struggle and inner strife. He always felt like everyone’s eyes were upon him, and throughout his life he struggled with going after any of the things that interested him, which stunted his growth and left him stalled and standing still throughout his life rather than enjoying each and every day.

La Sacerdotessa – One day, a new family moved in next door to the old man. Their daughter was very friendly and he met this young girl, who found joy and mystery in everything.  She encouraged him with her smile and assured him in her young but wise ways that even old dogs can learn new tricks. She brought him a gift every day.  Each day she brought him a little plastic Easter egg with a small wonder inside just for him.  Sometimes he opened them right away, other times he set them on his mantel and savored the anticipation.   In the end, she encouraged him to open himself up to new experiences.

Il Giudizio – Thanks to this lovely little girl, the old man’s life changed forever.  The small joys she shared with him fostered within him the confidence and curiosity to seek out and explore new experiences in other ways and finally go after some of the things he has always wanted to do but avoided due to the judgements of others.  Instead, he learned to judge his actions through his own eyes instead of the eyes of others, and his burdens lightened with each day that followed.

Gideon’s Challenge

IMG_6336Love is

Delicate
yet resilient,
Surprising
and yet comforting.
It lifts the spirit
and calms the soul
It scatters joy
through each day
and every moment.

Thank you for your love.  I am so proud and so grateful for every single moment we have together and all the love and care you pour into my life without reserve or condition.  You are such a remarkable man… and that you’re mine makes me the luckiest man in the world.

Someone
the other day
called me
a Dryad
and
I was honored.
I had
no objection
and no argument
to give.

Funny how sometimes people pay attention and you don’t even realize it’s happening until they come out with an observation out of the blue that signals they’ve learned some intricate and core part of who you are without even realizing until that moment that they have.

My connection to the earth is so strong, so essential and so very much a part of who I am that I do not often realize that it is so visible to others.  It might be silly, but it felt sort of good to have that part of myself recognized and so casually… so easily… accepted.

IMG_6618Value

Even the smallest
of creatures
has its place
and purpose in life.
The key is to
understand
that just because
another
is vastly different
than you
does not reduce
their value.

This is what worries me the greatest when I think of all the species around the world in the throes of going extinct.  I worry because each life has value and purpose… and when a creature goes extinct, this purpose is snuffed out.  What happens when a purpose that holds within it the balance of the life we know and something else is then snuffed out… and that balance then shifts and the scales topple?

IMG_4610Trust
is a thing
weighted and wet.
Dark and swirling
it ripples
around me.
Your hands
hold me under
and the world
beyond
disappears.
There is only you.

The greatest trust I have ever given to anyone, I have gave to you.  And I give to you again and again, each time I allow you to take me into those deep dark waters of the drown.  In that space, I am at my most vulnerable, and as you hold me there beneath the surface my light shines as my soul stretches and writhes.

Thank you for being who you are.  Thank you for being my anchor… my dominant… my love.  Thank you very every minute… every second we have together.

IMG_6705Adoration

A splash of color
among all the green
is what you called them
that day on our walk.
Patient perfect
as I paused to take
yet another picture
and another.

It always amazes me how patient you are with me, even when whatever I’m doing isn’t really your personal forte or interest.  You linger anyway and watch.  You show interest and you indulge.  Your adoration shows in every breath you take and every word you speak.  Your adoration is… breathtaking.
