Hidden faces
in quiet places
peer out
as they blend in
hard to see
they hide
in plain sight
but yet we see
nothing but
autumn’s glory
as we play
the ultimate game
of hide and seek.

Autumn Nip

Autumn
slips to
winter cold
and
wet clings
to everything
but even now
beauty holds
all rapt
in its
embrace.

The transition from fall to winter is a slow one in this part of the world, filled with a nip in the air and cold rains, vibrant leaves and emerging green as evergreens overtake autumn shades.

Memory Lane

The beaded curtain
rustles as strands brush
like whispering
branches
at the edge
of the long field
and as
incense swirls
through the senses
memories
of autumn hikes
through
tall damp grasses
rise in the mind.

The fallen
lies
on uneven
ground
and exhales
as wet drops
splatter
over his face
and the cold
of the ground
beneath him
eases
new aches.

Stand
very still
and listen
to the soft
patter
of raindrops
caught
to drip slowly

nature’s
fingertips
as cold
nips at the tip
of my nose.
