Winter nips
bit by bit
at the edges
of our senses
stinging sinuses
and biting
at fingertips
on its way past
as dawn creeps
a little earlier
with each day
that passes
until spring
begins

stepping on
each others toes
as we walk
shoulder to shoulder
on crowded streets
with conveyances
bumper to bumper
beside us
day in
and day out
with no room
left
to breathe

The shed roof
is soft with moss
and damp
with winter rain
so that when
you sit upon it
you are soon
cold and
soaked thru
to the skin
yet who can resist
a moment or two
settled in peace
with a view
like this

little crystals

soft and light

settles
