Today’s meditation was thirteen minutes long, and was one of the #DailyTrip sessions from the Calm app.
The meditation was about a meditative practice being more than just those few minutes you sit still in the moment, but about the things you do to prepare for your practice. Those moments and things that are done to help you unwind and settle into the quiet stretch of meditation, and how by making those small things we do to settle a part of the routine, we help further the positive effects of one’s meditative practice, as it allows the body and mind to prepare for what’s coming, and thus relax more easily and smoothly into the meditation and stillness.

Affirmation Prompt for April 12th: I Celebrate…
The Hermit – I celebrate healthy alone time.
Moments of solitude are important, and they are something that you need in your life… more now than ever.
Over the past year and a half you have not had much alone time, let alone much healthy alone time. It has gotten to the point where you are beginning to ignore that need within you entirely, including the ache it creates when you need this alone time and are denied it.
Instead of denying yourself, instead work on giving yourself the alone time you need, and instill into that alone time the celebration of seeking out the types of activities that make that alone time healthy for you.

Question for April 12th: How can I harness my inner wisdom to navigate my current challenges?
Carrots – Remember to bolster yourself with words of encouragement and nurture your sense of empowerment through positive reinforcement. When you lean into positivity and optimism, you give yourself a boost that is not just healthy, but also empowering.
Celery – Don’t languish! Get yourself up and moving. Stir the air in your lungs as well as the blood in your veins by opting to do something rather than doing nothing. It’s hard not to fall into the habit you’ve created of languishing when time allows rather than movement, but it’s time to work on breaking that habit.
Red Bell Pepper – Allow your creativity the freedom to spark and guide you forward. Ride its spark with curiosity and joy. Just because you need to take care that you don’t get so wrapped up in new passions that you lose track of your responsibilities doesn’t mean you can’t still explore inspiration when it strikes and see where it leads you.

Question for April 12th: Walk On the Wild Side Day – What unpredictable bit of fun can you add into the upcoming weekend?
Reading Summary: Use analytical problem-solving (Queen of Swords) and fresh ideas (Ace of Swords) to get past something that could otherwise steal your joy and sense of emotional satisfaction (Nine of Cups Rx).
Take Away: Make sure that you are staying open to thinking outside the box this weekend. In doing so, you can circumvent encroaching joy-killers and help yourself remain positive.
This includes possibly having to force these new ideas on others in order to redirect them onto a better path. Like you, sometimes others need a little nudge towards the unconventional as well.

More time outside at the rose bed. All ten rose bushes are now planted and the only thing left is for the water to be hooked up to the drip system (not my job).
