The Alchemical Tarot Renewed 4th Edition - The Chariot

Today’s draw is The Chariot card, which is traditionally a representation of control, willpower, determination, and the strength of purpose to “take the reins” and steer yourself in the path you wish to follow.

The Equinox is a time of balance. And just as the Autumn Equinox revolves around a slowing down and dampening of energies and life, the Spring Equinox is all about the quickening of energies and life.

When we look at the Chariot from the rear view as is shown in today’s card, we see that although the charioteer is in charge, he really doesn’t have the greatest view. He can’t see all that’s going on around him because he’s got two very large horse’s asses in his way.

This brings up the idea that sometimes having all the control isn’t really a good thing after all, because you can’t always see where you’re going. That means that even though you’re in charge, you may have a hard time navigating your way.

The message in today’s Chariot card combined with the “Equinox” spread suggests that instead of go, go, go all the time, we try stepping down and stepping aside, so we can see things from a better angle now and then. That involves slowing down and letting go of the reigns. Otherwise… you’re going to miss something important sooner or later.

Venus square Jupiter, Sun sextile Uranus Prompt for March 18th
: Where am I tempted to overextend myself?

Tarot Reading with the After Tarot

Reading Summary: New ideas (Ace of Swords) have a tendency to spark new hope within you (The Star). Take care that you are not jumping the gun before you make sure it’s what you really want, though (Knight of Cups Rx).

Take Away: Flights of fancy can be fun, but they have a tendency to leave a mess in their wake, and put too much on your plate at one time. In fact, it’s that over-crowding on your plate that creates the mess in the first place, for you jump on board based on enthusiasm alone, and then drop the ball due to overwhelm.

Instead of getting excited about every little thing and diving in to try each one of them right away, step back and consider if the overwhelm you’re setting yourself up for is really the direction you want to go in. Perhaps writing the ideas down is a better option so that you can then take them on with a granule or two of moderation.

Other elements included in this reading:
Scotch Pine Cone for Purging Negative Influences
Foraged Parmeliaceae Lichen for a “Breath of Fresh Air”
Bird Figurine for Fostering Hope, Positivity, and Renewal
Desert Rose for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

Philosophical Question for March
18th : Is happiness an inherent desire or is it a learned value?

Tarot Reading with The Alchemical Tarot Renewed 4th Edition

Reading Summary: Once we’ve experienced happiness for the first time (Ace of Swords), it lights a fire within us to seek it out again and again (Two of Wands).

Happiness then becomes something that drives us (Queen of Swords) and can supersede other life goals if the desire for it is left unchecked (Temperance).

Take Away: Happiness is an addiction.

It’s not something we know until we experience it for the first time, which means it’s not an inherent desire. Instead, it’s something that, once experienced, we seek out again and again.

Therefore, these cards indicate that it’s a learned value that acts like an addiction.

Other elements included in this reading:
Foraged Red Oak Leaf for Fostering Unconditional Love
Green Jasper and Caribbean Calcite Turtle for Calm within Progress
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

Daily Self Kindness

This is a catch up post, and I’m not entirely sure what the self kindness was for this day.

Be Ready to Adapt

After TarotToday’s draw is the Two of Pentacles, which is traditionally a representation of finding balance between the different aspects of one’s life, juggling responsibilities, prioritization, and managing one’s time wisely.

It’s this last bit from the traditional meaning above that this card is about for me today.  It’s about making sure I pace myself and don’t push too hard.  It’s about not getting impatient, but just allowing extra time to get the things done I need to, no matter the obstacles that might slow me down along the way.

Today is my trip north, and I have a few stops along the way as well. There’s the risk of there being issues at the border on the way back south as well to consider.  All in all, there’s a lot to get done and even though I’m leaving early to make sure I give myself extra time, this card indicates I may need to practice a bit of patience and adjust my plans on the fly in order to get everything that needs done fit into my day.

Daily Self Kindness

I stopped for food instead of waiting the extra amount of time it would take to get home.  I really just wanted to go home, but it was a better idea to eat first.
