50 Quick Questions About Me – 2022 Edition

I haven’t done one of these in a while, so I thought… why not?  I like these types of quizzes and questions, so here we go with a new 50 Quick Questions About Me.

The Toothy Hermit

The Questions

1) What website do you visit most often?

WordPress, because that’s where my blog is lo…. oh. Well. Etsy, because that’s where I run my business from so I’m on there all the time… many, many times per day. Recreationally speaking? The site where I do storytelling and creative writing with my partner (not really what the site’s built for, but it’s what we use it for). Or it might possibly be Instagram if you include app usage.

2) What is your favorite quote?

Creative activity could be described as a type of learning process where teacher and pupil are located in the same individual. – Arthur Koestler

3) What song is stuck in your head right now?

In the past 24 hours I have had 100 Ways by Jackson Wang and then Rebellious by 灵超 stuck in my head.

4) Would you rather be transported permanently 500 years into the future or 500 years into the past?

If I get to maintain my current knowledge? The Past. Wait…. no. Was bathing popular in the 1500s. No. No it wasn’t. Future. Ew, no. I don’t like that either. I’m not sure I wanna know where humanity’s headed. I’ll stay where I’m at, I think.

5) What is your favorite holiday tradition?

Shopping for and/or making gifts for loved ones.

6) What improved your life quality so much, you wish you did it sooner?

Forgiving my father.

Card Games: Gin Rummy, Dixit, Solitaire, Tarochhi, Hwa-tu, Jeu de Tarot, Unruly, Hanafuda, Cards Against Humanity, Flourish, Sleep Tight, Ecologies, Ouisii, any of the Magical Myrioramas games… there are others but those are what I can think of off the top of my head.

Boring and yet somehow still treacherous.

12) Do you pour the milk in before the cereal, or the cereal before the milk?

Cereal, then milk. Then cereal… then milk, then cereal.

Yes. I often remember my dreams. And yes, a few of them have stuck with me over time. Two in particular was being chased by tribbles with sharp teeth, and another about getting into and out of a haunted house party. There’s also one where I can’t figure out my locker combination, find my classes, or get help from the office where I went to high school.

19) What’s your favorite sandwich? What do you like to put on it?

Toasted turkey and bacon on super soft multigrain bread. I usually include pepper jack cheese (or monterey jack), pickles, spinach, tomato, black olives (if available), mayo, and honey mustard.

20) Do you like coffee or tea? What kind do you prefer?

Herbal tea. My body doesn’t handle caffeine well. My favorite is a mix of Kanna and Chamomile.

As far as products tho? Milk. I spend a lot of money on milk.

22) If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

Work myself to death probably.

23) What really needs to be modernized?

Public transit.

24) What’s the most interesting documentary you’ve ever watched?

I watched one recently on different types of polyamorous relationships that was pretty interesting. For the most part, I like animal documentaries, but after a while they all blend together.

25) If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Time. I always feel like I never have enough time.

26) Do you have any routines you try to do every day?

Eat probiotic yogurt, and drink tea with collagen peptides in it. Take my vitamins. Tarot/cartomancy readings. Spend time with my partner Gideon. Feed the cat. Sleep.

Not be able to open any closed doors.
I’ll find another way. But for security, being able to close doors is a must.

28) What has taken you the longest to get good or decent at?

Self-care.  I can’t say I’m good at it, but I think I’m getting decent at it.

29) If someone came up to you and said “Hey, do that thing you do!”, what thing would pop into your head first?

Reading cards probably, but it might depend on the situation.

30) What kind of business would you like to start if you were given the chance?

I’m already running my own business. I design and sell jewelry, and also offer tarot/cartomancy readings.

31) What’s the most unique shop or restaurant you’ve been in?

I once visited a metaphysical shop where the entire shop was divided into sections by long scarf like tapestries hung from the ceiling. It created an interesting energy effect, allowing the items in each section to “speak” more clearly.

32) What is the most annoying habit that other people have?

Noisy eating.  This might tie with willful ignorance, tho.

33) If you were a wrestler what would be your entrance theme song?

Prodigy’s Firestarter… oh. Or maybe The Red by Chevelle.

34) When things break, do you prefer to fix them or replace them?

Depends on the thing, but generally fix them if I can.

35) What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?

Sleep

36) What words do you consistently spell wrong no matter how hard you try?

lieu, conscience, embarrassed, publicly, repertoire, larynx, ally, labyrinth, perseverance, mischievous, affect/effect, accel/excel, leisurely, buoyant, separate, plagiarize, hierarchy, fiery, conscientious, supersede, minuscule, liaison, fascinate, indict, incendiary, medieval, renaissance, memento, precede, pursuit, queue, millennium, sergeant, awful, lightning/lightening, arctic, council

37) Would you ever try space tourism if you had the money for it?

Oh hell no. The further away from soil I go, the more uncomfortable I become. Ive flown. Even did some skydiving and hang gliding. It’s not fear… I just don’t feel right when I’m not touching the earth.

38) What is your favorite junk food?

Orange Creamcicle Ice Cream and Cheetos Puffs

39) If you could slow down time, what would you do with that power?

Get more sleep. Well. I mean. If I could slow down time where I wasn’t slowed down along with it anyway.

40) You have to sing karaoke, what song do you pick?

Hm… well I’m mute. But, that said? If I -could- sing. Probably either That XX by G Dragon or possibly Disease by Matchbox 20.

41) If you had to lose one of your senses, which would you choose to lose?

Taste.   If you lose smell, you lose taste anyway.  People who can’t feel pain (thus lack of touch) don’t survive very long.  Losing sight or hearing would be more of a struggle to adjust to than losing my sense of taste.

42) What do you usually do on your commute?

Drive, and either listen to music or listen to an audiobook.

43) What incredibly common thing have you never done?

Hmmm….
Played soccer
Smoked cigarettes
Broken a finger (which is remarkable considering how much damage my body has taken in this lifetime so far)
Eaten Taco Time, Popeyes, Chipotle, or Chick-Fil-A
Caught a baseball (this is not to say I’ve never played, but I’ve never caught one)

44) If you could level up in life just like in video games, where would you put your next skill point?

Recovery / Regeneration

45) If there was a zombie apocalypse tomorrow, what is the first thing you would do?

Contact Gideon to let him know where to find me (he lives over 2500 miles from me), grab my sister and my cat (and possibly my best friend), pack up a few things and every bit of food I can from my place… and head north. Far enough north that dead things freeze in the snow and ice. Set myself up in a cabin or house that I can sustain long term and settle in.

46) What natural landmark would you like to see someday?

The Mariana Trench… from below, not above.

47) If you had to leave your country permanently, where would you relocate to?

That would involve leaving N America, since I’m a dual citizen. So… considers probably Norway. If anywhere could rival the natural beauty of where I live now, I’m pretty sure that’s it.

48) What silly or funny thing are you afraid of?

Hooved animals. Clowns. Spiders.

49) What is your favorite plant or flower?

Pansy

50) What piece of entertainment do you wish you could erase from your mind so that you could experience it for the first time again?

Any of the Classic animated Disney movies.

What Kind of Reader Am I? #THEREADERIAM (non)VR to James Feeney

So although this tag originally comes from James Feeney on YouTube, it was actually first brought to my attention by Casper the BoyDiviner.

ScatterTarot11

What is the primary system of divination you use (as specific as possible)?

Recently, I’ve been sticking mostly to tarot cards, and the occasional image-only cards or oracle cards, unless I have a client making a request for something else specifically.

Who do you read for?

Paying clients.  Myself.  Friends and loved ones. Random occasional strangers when I’m feeling the urge to offer a free reading here and there.

What types of readings do you normally do? (ie: topics, spreads, time, medium)

I specialize in intuitive reading that incorporates an element of predictive reading.  I do well with the present and the future, but I do not do past readings whether that be past lives or someone’s personal past.  I also rarely do predictive readings that span more than three months ahead.

I’m good with a variety of topics with the exception of mediumship, which I am not prepared to offer. I usually let my moral compass guide me on whether or not a question or topic is okay to do… and I avoid those topics that could put me in legal jeopardy.

I prefer free-form readings over spreads most of the time, but do spreads on request or when reading for myself as reading for myself requires a bit more structure sometimes.

What is your reading style? (ie: analytic, intuitive, spiritual/ predictive or fortune)

I think I pretty much covered this above when I mentioned the types of readings I do.  My reading style is intuitive interpretation of the imagery, which I then augment by including traditional meanings of the cards as a secondary contribution to the reading.

The exception to this is excessively pip decks, lenormand, and playing cards.  With these three systems it is the opposite.  Because these styles of decks are not imagery rich, they don’t provide enough input for me to allow my intuition free reign off of the imagery.  In these cases, I lean heavily on numerology and/or foundational meanings within those systems, and then incorporate a more “directional based” intuition into that foundational knowledge.

Although my readings are not secular, that is between me and my concept of divinity (and possibly also my spirit guides), and therefore rarely reflects in my delivery to others.

What types of readings do you conduct? (ie: evaluative, coaching, empowering, reflective)

All of the above.  It really just depends on what the client needs.  In the case of reading for myself, it is usually either evaluative or guidance towards self care, life balance, and a healthy well-being.

ReadingWhat is your ideal reading atmosphere?

Outside. A picnic table.  Bare feet to bare earth with weather warm enough to make that comfortable but not so hot as to feel uncomfortable. Overcast or bit of shade and a slight breeze but not windy.  Not raining. Lots of grass and trees.

Reversals? Jumpers? Shuffling style?

Reversals – Occasionally.  Only when it really calls to my intuition that the card was meant to land that way and looking at it upright just feels… wrong.  Otherwise I use my intuition to tell me what message the cards want to convey, no matter the orientation of the card on the table or if that message is a reversal meaning or an upright one.

Shuffling Style –  When I first add a deck into my collection (or after I have reorganized it back into its suits for some reason) I will then riffle shuffle a deck at least 7 or 8 times before using it.   This is because mathematically speaking, you need to riffle shuffle a deck of 52 cards at least 7 times to effectively randomize the deck.

After that, though?   When I do a reading, because the cards are already randomized I will usually riffle shuffle about three times before handing the cards to my client for them to shuffle them a few times.

Jumpers – I use jumpers to pull my cards.   So after I have done the riffle shuffling, I will then shift to a seesawing overhand and, with my question in mind, wait for a card (or two) to fall out, then repeat for the next question, and the next, etc.  So essentially, all of my card pulls are jumpers.  If I receive more than two cards at a time, I will put them back in the deck and ask for a more succinct answer.

What is your delivery tone? (ie: constructive, positive, reflective, action-oriented)

All of the above, but not at the same time?  That is to say that deep down in my psyche, I’m essentially a “fixer”.  Meaning, essentially, that I don’t want to know things just to know things. I want to know things so that I can move forward, improve, or somehow adjust and/or fix something.  I have no problem delivering the hard answers or even the harsh answers, but I do it with a little bit… more.

So even though the question might be “how am I physically at this time”, when I’m asking the question? I’m really looking for more than just a status update… so when the cards answer me, they are going to give me more than just a status update. They’re also going to provide me with a path to improvement/betterment.

This is the same whether I’m reading for myself or someone else.

What are some of your personal reading quirks? (ie: correspondences you tend to draw on, habits you have, little details that you alone use and have)

I’m not exactly sure how to answer this, because in my observation everyone reads the cards differently.  Especially when you start delving into those that read the cards intuitively.   Just as there are many different ways for intuition to speak to someone, there are even more ways for us to take and utilize that inner voice in our tarot readings.

I think I’ve outlined a few of the oddities above.  Possibly the most notable being my method for pulling cards. I also think that my need to teach others is somewhat unique.  To be honest I’ve been doing this so long that it’s hard for me to tell anymore what’s the “status quo” norm of the masses, and what’s unique to me and my personal style.

#TarotTubersAtoZ (non)VR to The Hermit’s Cave

Simon over at The Hermit’s Cave on YouTube did a sort of quiz type video called #TarotTubersAtoZ the other day, and although I don’t make videos, I am a part of that community and so I decided to go ahead and do a response here.

letters

So here we go…

A – Age:  31 for the next few months
B – Book (Favourite): Little Brothers by Rick Hautala
C – Career you wanted to be when you were a kid and what it actually is now: As a kid, I wanted to be a librarian.  Libraries are just… so amazing. I’ve always thought so. As for now… I have an education in horticulture and botany, which I use in three of my part-time jobs (working on a farm, advisor/teaching position in a nursery/greenhouse, and working for a landscaping company in the summer).  I also work part time as an attendant at a gas station, and part time as a nail tech in a Vietnamese salon. Aside from this I also run a home business where I design and sell jewelry, sell my nature photography, and work as a tarot reader for a handful of clients on the side (the last one is done either online or at meeting places when in person… NOT in my home).
D – Dream: Stability and security.  I want to be at a point where those things are no longer in question or at risk.
E – Essential item:  Comfortable shoes.  I hate wearing shoes, so they damn well have to be comfortable.
F – Favorite RWS Deck: Bianco Nero (not a classic RWS, but a clone.)  If we’re talking just the general RWS system, then it’s a tie between the Tarot of the Hidden Realm and the Stolen Child Tarot.
G – Gold or Silver: Silver
H – Height: 5′ 10″
I – Ideal day:  Get up early and go hiking. Take a nap in the woods before coming back. Some dinking around in the garden digging in the dirt and caring for my plants.  Pizza for dinner.  Relax with Gideon.
J – Joke (funniest):  I have NO idea.  I’m not particularly good at jokes.
K – Kid(s):  None. I think they’re wonderful as long as they belong to someone else.
L – Living arrangements: I own my fourth floor condo and live within it with my twin sister, who pays me rent that goes towards the mortgage.
M – Marseille deck (favorite): Le Tarot de Marseille par Pole Ka
N – Nicknames:  Leaf, Twist, Niner
O – Oracle (favorite):  Faerie’s Oracle by Brian Froud
P – Passionate about:  nature, the rain, tarot, photography, creativity, Gideon
Q – Quote (favorite): “Creative activity is a type of learning process where the teacher and pupil are located in the same individual.” – Arthur Koestler
R – Relationship status: Gideon is my partner and my Dominant. We are monogamous.
S – Season (favorite):  Autumn.  I love the smells of autumn and the shift to relief from the summer heat.
T – Tarot (first and last) –  My first tarot deck was the Celtic Circle Tarot.  The most recent to enter my collection (as of writing this post, anyway) is the Oriens Tarot, which arrived on Friday.
U – Upset (what upsets you most):  Injustice. Closed-mindedness. Senseless disrespect. Willful stupidity.
V – Vlog (which are you most proud of. And which is your most popular): I don’t have a vlog.  On my blog I am oddly most proud of the kaleidoscope posts that helped us heal from that dark time in our past.  My most popular post is apparently the 75 Questions post that I did last July.
W -Weakness: Self destructive impulses.
X – X Rated (tell us something naughty you’ve done):  *clears his throat* I once stuck my dick into tub of soft serve ice cream on a dare.
Y – Yesteryear (your favorite year so far and why):  I don’t have one.  I have difficulty with my memory due to a head injury when I was younger.  What memories I have are fragmented and I depend on those around me to assist me in keeping them (as well as keeping them in chronological order).  Without having a written record of it, there’s very little I can actually state happened in any specific year.
Z -Zen (what you do to relax and stay calm):  meditate, sleep, play games on my phone, talk to Gideon, lie in the bottom of the tub with the shower running

#50QuickQuestions2019 Just for Fun (non) VR to The Hermit’s Cave

Simon over at The Hermit’s Cave created a new hashtag today, and it’s my favorite type of quizzes to do, which is random question posts.   So, I grabbed it to answer and here we go….

PineBox

The Questions

1. Have you ever changed your clothes while in a vehicle?

Yes.  I lived in my car for a while in my teens and I have done just about everything you CAN do in a car in the whole day-to-day life aspect, including eating, bathing, sex, changing clothes, sleeping, etc.

2. What do you want to do before you die?

I had trouble with this one.   One more visit to the rainforests.  It doesn’t matter how many times I go… one more.

3. Are you single?

Nope.  I belong to Gideon.  We’re going on over 11.5 years now.

4. What’s one thing you will not eat?

Live insects.  Live anything that moves, really.  I have an issue with the wiggle-in-the-mouth thing.

5. What color is your underwear?

Dark gray for today.

6. When is the last time you went out of England?

Never been to England, but out of my own country?  Last Tuesday, because I cross into Canada twice a week for work.

UW Medical Center.   Most of my communication with others is through texts.  I don’t get many phone calls from people I know other than my mother.

8. Have you ever drank milk straight out of the carton?

Yes.  I don’t these days, but back when I was living alone or living in the car?  Yep.  Although… I never realized it was an actual skill until watching Becca’s responses.

9. What was your last holiday?

I’m guessing this is the UK meaning of “holiday”, which means vacation.  That would be a visit to my mother’s in the spring.  I left all of my work except my phone at home and deliberately focused on rest and restoration while I was there.

10. Can you hula hoop?

Yes, I can.

11. Have you ever crawled through a window?

Yep.  I have.  And I’m going to plead the 5th under the risk of incriminating myself.  LOL

A bit busier today than yesterday, so not really?  But it’s not bad either.

16. Do you talk to yourself?

Yes.  Not that I can physically talk anymore, but my mouth still works even if my voice doesn’t.

That would be Gideon, and that’s a HELL yes.   If we’re talking about just a peck-on-the-cheek?  That would be my sister, and of course I would.

18. How many languages can you speak?

None of them anymore.  I’m fluent in English.  I’m semi-fluent in Korean and French.  I can mostly understand spoken Vietnamese.   I can semi-understand spoken Japanese, and spoken or written Italian and Spanish.

23. Ever cried listening to music?

Yes.  Absolutely.  Some music just touches me that way.

Prepping orders to ship out tomorrow and spending time with Gideon.

26. What time is it?

The #gettoknowyourwitches Questions

hand-1598626_1920

On June 2nd, I stumbled across a new quiz on Ethony’s YouTube channel. I don’t think that this one originated with her, but she was kind enough to post the questions in the video information, and I decided to play along.

To be fair, I do not necessarily consider myself a “witch”, per se. I consider myself a Buddhist Pagan. Buddhist first like an adjective, Pagan second like a noun.

But the terminology is really semantics at its best, because I do spellcraft, which is pretty much the defining characteristic of being a “witch”. So… a witch is a witch is a witch, I suppose. Regardless of the terminology used. Right?

  1. Does your Sun Sign (Zodiac Sign) portray you correctly? If not, do your other planetary signs?
It does! I mentioned this in a previous post…. well, two posts really. Here and Here
  2. What songs bring you the most magickal vibes?
Songs with magical vibes… I really had to think about this one. I’d probably have to say Gayatri Mantra by Deva Premal. There’s another that one of my yoga instructors used to play in her studio, but it was a compilation disk that she’d lost the info on, and neither of us could figure out what it was.
  3. Which one of your deities/guides/ancestors is most sarcastic with you? If this doesn’t apply to you, which of your tarot/oracle decks is?
The first part of this question doesn’t really apply to me. The second part… just recently the answer to this has become the Eight Coins Tattoo Tarot. Very tongue-in-cheek in the way it answers questions and communicates with me as a whole.
  4. Biggest witchy mess up or misinterpretation?
I once set the front yard on fire during a ritual with my sister when we were young. I think we were probably about… twelve? It’s surprisingly difficult to put out a grass fire in daylight.
  5. Would you write a book on your craft/spirituality? Why? If you already have, what were your challenges in doing so?
No. I think I would find the approach to feel too impersonal. I don’t mind writing about it here on the blog, or answering questions when they’re asked. But a book feels different than all of that. It’s a very detached sort of energy, I guess, would be the best way to put it. I wouldn’t want to bring that energy into my practice, even on the periphery.
  6. If someone wanted to summon you to their circle, what 5 items would they need?
Living, growing plants. A deck of playing cards. Labradorite. Capt’n Crunch cereal. Pluto (as in the stuffed dog in my bed, not the planet).
  7. If you were a ghost, what place would you haunt?
I’d much rather haunt a person. But, if I had to haunt a place, I’d love to haunt either an area of rainforest where hikers occasionally pass through, or a library. A library would be awesome.
  8. What is the funniest way someone has reacted to finding out you are a witch?
I once had these “Welcome Wagon” people come to my house to welcome me into the neighborhood, then go from very relaxed to hastily evacuating the premises when they saw my pentagram.
  9. Do you have any superstitions?
In my opinion, the line between magic and superstition is a very thin one. Because of this, I would have to say that I have many, although the only two I can think of off-hand are the salt over the shoulder thing, and the shiny baubles and mirror trap near (but not in sight of) the front door.
  10. If you could possess any fantasy magic, what would your power be?
Teleportation. I need teleportation in my life so f’ing bad.
  11. What is something random on your altar(s)?
I have a painted rock on my altar that I found in the parking lot at the post office. It’s aqua colored with a spiral of little white dots.
  12. If one of the youtubers you watched was a genie and they could grant you 3 wishes within their power, who would it be and what wishes? (Can’t be for more wishes)
LOL… I’m going to pick Simon over at The Hermit’s Cave, because my wish would be to go cherry-picking through his deck collection and take home whatever I want. That’s my wish. Just one wish, that’s all I need.
  13. If you could instantly become an expert in any part of your craft/spirituality, what would it be?
None… Nothing… My spirituality is about the journey, and that includes the learning part of things. Sure, there are things I would like to be better at, and will become better at with time, but there’s nothing I want to just suddenly become a master at.
  14. When you die, what do you think will happen to you/your soul?
I will either linger to haunt for a time, or move on to be reincarnated.
  15. Where do you see yourself spiritually in the next 5 years?
I don’t see my spirituality changing all that much. I suppose I’ll be a little older, a little wiser, and a little more experienced. I don’t foresee any major changes or leaps happening though.

And there we go. Done.
