Indian sumer
stretches on
and trees
refuse to turn
as smoke rolls
with the east wind
and we’re left
unable to see
our nose
while summer heat
drags
on and on
as if
it will never end
Your heart beats
heavy and hard
as you drag on
and fight
the good fight
showing others
you are strong
while inside
your heart bleeds
and I reach out
to cover your soul
and help keep
everything in
that is trying
to spill out
Skin slides
over smooth surface
feeling like silk
but softer
and like satin
but gentler
and within its
delicate brush
of fibers
against
sensitive skin
a sweet fragrance
lifts
to tease senses
I want to curl up
in your arms
on the balcony
and settle
into you
as the sun
slowly sinks
below horizon
until only
a golden glow
remains
and your lips
brush my nape
as you whisper
“Mine”
White hot poker
flames red
savage and bright
angry… enraged
the fire sears
beneath the skin
with sharp
savage prongs
that rake
through the pain
to make it
that much worse
until there is
no air
to breathe
Dark clouds
try to cling on
even when
the sun shines
bright
and like life
days slip by
and dark shadows
try to touch
upon
the brightness
as we continue on
and do our best
to be happy
