Secrets lie
buried
in dark petals
and hidden
niches
and as we
turn our faces
up to the sun
only the pieces
still
in shadow
show the truth
of who we
really are
I long for time
with you
where bristled jaw
grazes
smooth flesh
and creates
burns of pink
on creamed coffee
with each nuzzle
and scrape
until I am left
breathless
and aching
for more
I love the cold
and wet and gray
and when the fog
rolls in
to swallow the world
I ache
to sit on the shore
and watch
all that I cannot see
and feel
the kiss of autumn
brush against
my face
and say
Hello
One day away
and my soul aches
as within my heart
petals wither
with longing
for more time
in your presence
more grins
more stares
more touches
just more
more of you
is needed
The day slides
slow and quiet
into the past
as vibrant shades
stretch
across the horizon
to claim
the last
of the light
in a display
meant to take
one’s breath
and leave wonder
in its wake
