Neither sky
nor sea
is endless
no matter
how far it feels
and like
all experiences
and life itself
there is an end
to each
moment
and every thing
so cherish the
breathtaking
moments
as they come
Will you please
hug me closer
and keep me warm
as the winter
grows cold
and the air nips
at bare skin
until the
backs of hands
are roughened
and lips
are cracked
I need your arms
around me
close and tight
The soul withers
and pain
sucks the vibrancy
and life
from every vein
until skin
is paper thin
and teardrops fall
one at a time
until
bits and pieces
begin
to fall away
and flutter
to the ground
to be trampled
Eastern winds
slip between
mountain crevaces
to skim ice
and cold
over rocks
and branches
and as snowflakes
fall
the waterfall
freezes
and we are left
huddled together
to seek warmth
with hands in
each other’s pockets
Dream with me
of soft green fields
we will roll in
together
with leaves
in our hair
among
the morning dew
until skin is slick
and clothes so wet
they must be
peeled away
bit by bit
for us to get
just a little
closer
Tangled together
emotions shift
and churn
in untidy lanes
Pathways
that are never
as straight
and easy
as they seem
that they should be
and I am left
floundering and lost
in the forest
unable to find
my way home
