How is it
that the thaw
happened
while my eyes
were closed
in a slow blink
and now
dried husks
begin to green
as spring
whispers
on the breeze
and every day
brings just
a bit more
rain

Burn It All Down Tarot Reading
What would be helpful to burn down in my life?
Ace of Cups and Six of Swords – Your tendency to try and run away from your emotions. Especially the new ones that you don’t understand. It would be helpful to bring that tendency into check instead of letting it dictate your behavior out of habit or fear.
How can that destruction move me forward?
Eight of Wands Rx and Two of Wands – Allowing yourself to stay in the moment of those new emotions instead of running from them can create a less chaotic push and shove in your life over all, resulting in more steady footing for the journey yet to come.
In what area will I then need to rebuild?
Six of Coins and Queen of Wands – Fostering a new passion for generosity towards yourself and others can allow you the room you need to grow and understand without the pressure to always be on top of everything.

Watchfulness and Preparation
Today’s meditation was skipped.
Today’s draw is the Nine of Candles (Swords), which is traditionally a representation of (both founded and unfounded) anxiety, nightmares, insomnia, stress, and worry.
Look at that fluffy tail and all those candles lain out in a row. There’s definite danger here, and the owner might be sweating it a bit to see the cat so close. So much could potentially go wrong.
Today’s card is a reminder to keep an eye on potential dangers and issues. You don’t have to always step in and circumvent them, but it’s a good idea to be prepared… just in case something catastrophic is lurking around the corner preparing to pop out and light a fire under your ass.

Questions for April 10th and 11th
In what aspect of life do you need a new perspective?
Blue Moon and Float – You don’t always have to be on top of everything and always pushing for forward motion. Sometimes, just like growth spurts in children, the best growth happens while your sleeping.
What would this new perspective look like?
Falling and Winter Slumber – Okay so this is not an outcome I want, so while it might be nice to take a look at this new perspective, enacting it in my life is not happening right now. Slow winters and a crumbling foundations are not things I have any interest in facilitating.
That said? There’s advice here about making sure that you take the time for rest when you have the opportunity, because there are just as many times in life when that opportunity isn’t present and you’re needed to hold everything together or rebuild what’s been lost.

Question: How can I best channel my most courageous, most fearless self?
Reading Summary: Make sure you’re getting what you need for yourself (The Lovers) to feel stable and secure (Four of Pentacles) by communicating your needs clearly (Ace of Swords).
Take Away: You have a habit of not opening up when you are in need of help. If you want to be your most courageous and fearless self, you have to let go of your reluctance to let others in and allow them to see your vulnerabilities.
It’s okay to show them those things you’re not good at or confident about, and as for their help concerning these things. Communicate your needs more clearly and get the help you need.

This is a catch-up post, and I’m not entirely sure what today’s self-kindness might have been.

The Gift of Listening
Today’s meditation was skipped.
Today’s draw is the Queen of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive alpha energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, creativity, and intuition. Among other things, this often translates into themes to do with emotional support and advice from a trusted party that is easy to talk to.
What stood out to me in the imagery of this particular deck’s card today is the fact that I own that candy dish. As in… the candy dish that this particular image was drawn off of. It’s made of red carnival glass and belonged to an elderly friend that passed away a handful of years ago.
This card brought to mind that friend, and how even as stuck in her ways as she was, she always somehow had time to be still and quiet and -listen- to others. She may not always agree, and sometimes the things that came out of her mouth were beyond rude… but that rudeness was based off of her limited experiences in the world… not insensitivity.
Today’s card is a reminder that sometimes the ability to listen is the absolute best gift you can give to others, and often far superior to any advice you might be able to offer.

Question: What commitments can I make to support my journey towards self-love?
Blackthorn – The power to endure instead of buckling under the weight involved with times of struggle and uncertainty.
This is both a strength you possess as well as something you need to commit to and have confidence in as you move forward in your journey. Knowing you possess this strength provides a steady foundation for you to stand your ground on.
Primrose – Your ability to accept your vulnerabilities and not allow them to hold you back from self exploration is another important commitment towards your self-love journey. Don’t shirk away from that vulnerability but allow it to be a strength and something worth exploring instead.
Honeysuckle – Staying in touch with that ever present spark of creativity that influences all parts of your life. It helps keep things fun and fresh, and allows you to feel a sense of pride that you don’t feel the least bit ashamed about.

Philosophical Question: Is personal growth required to live a good life?
Reading Summary: Burnout (Ten of Wands), pessimism (Five of Cups), and constant forward motion (Eight of Wands) are all present in these cards, but there is no joy present in within them at all. These cards are a reminder of what your life was like before you chose to begin a journey of growth and emotional exploration within yourself.
Take Away: How do you define “a good life”? I wouldn’t consider it a good life without joy… but perhaps there are those out there that do. I think this question is too subjective to be answered easily, but for me… yes. Personal growth is required, for it is only after I dealt with the qualities in myself outlined in these cards that I truly began enjoying life instead of just living it.

I had a really good, deep nap today on Ms B’s couch. It was glorious and needed.
