Uncertainty

split second
moments
of normalcy
are slipped
between heartbeats
like illusive
grains of sand
sliding
between fingers
lost
no matter
how desperately
grasped
until nothing is left
except empty hands
and the erratic beats
of an
unpredictable rhythm
