Daydreaming
When summer slips
into autumn’s grasp
and flower’s colors
begin to fade
will you lie with me
in the green grass
and watch the clouds
march by
on parade
and hold my hand
as we pick out shapes
making up stories
as we go
before getting lost
in laughter and kisses
until the sunset glow

Time spent
on porch steps
shoulder to shoulder
and hip to hip
as we watch
clouds
swirl in the sky
and speak
quiet words
of love
in each others ear
and nuzzle
away the hours
together

The Morning Plow
Frosted bits
and frozen lips
as fingers
turn white then blue
even under
winter mittens
where warmth
they should imbue
as plow truck
rumbles
and feet are shoved
into the warmest
boots
to go make piles
of fluffy stuff
with shovel scrapes
and oomphs
Cloud Spotting
Little bunny
in the sky
looking down
on green fields
as clouds pass
on by
what do you think
of what you see
would you
come down to frolic
in the green sea?
or is the view better
from above
where you can see
all your bretheren
hop along?

Sparks of pain
flicker along senses
and speak
of infammation
out of control
as eyes open
to a new day
and breath
is caught
then let out slow
as senses flare
red hot
and determination
alone
spurs movement
in a search
for relief
Frazzled
No comb
can untangle
the frantic mess
of the mind
when time presses
in close
and steals
the breath
as deadlines near
while hair
that would do
a mad scientist
proud
is an echo
of the thoughts
flitting about
beneath
