Vibrancy lives on
in small pops
of color
in the autumn cold
and morning frost
that blankets
the blades of grass
and falling leaves
while hardy flowers
burst open
in celebration
at the end
of summer heat
and approach of winter

Unexpected
warning
fairly given
but it makes
for thinking twice
about parking
at the trail head
and heading off
into the woods
while
leaving behind
the one thing
that can
safely
bring you home

Massive shapes
glide by
unnoticed
above our heads
bigger than fields
and mountains
and silent
as the quietest
whisper
slipping off
towards the horizon
like time
as sand slips
through the hourglass
The Unworthy
I am not deserving
of the pedestal
you put me upon
where I can do
no wrong
and your heart
beats faster
in my presence
your love
in every word
and every glance
as you wrap me up
tightly
in your arms
and yet here I sit
beloved
all the same
The Echo
Our lives shine bright
like stars in the sky
and echo onward
once snuffed out
stretching through time
in the hearts
and minds of those
who loved us
all along
it’s with those
we’ve left behind
is where we linger on
in memories cherished
and the ache
in loving hearts
remembered like an echo
for all of those left

as Ms B dresses
as a wicked witch
to answer the door
for kids that come
and hands out candy
like Snickers and gum
as pumpkins glow
and skeletons scream
and little kids
laugh
at the spooky house
like a dream
