Sweet like honey
just a little taste
as tiny flowers
are pulled
from flower heads
for one bit
of sweetness
at a time
as we lie
in the grass
daydreaming
together
Moving
through the fog
the world
feels gray
and you ask
“how are you feeling?”
but there’s
no answer
only empty gray
until above
the slightest
glimpse of blue
reminds me
that everything
will be okay
Fragrant moments
spent alone
wandering
among silken petals
and sharp points
that promise
to make you bleed
if you get
too close
so scent
the sweetness
but do not touch
for these beauties
will bite
A little guardian
just for me
a bit of green
that lives
in a tree
brought to live
inside my home
to cling on tight
to what I own
and keep my music
safe and sound
for when I’m home
not wearing it ’round.
What the hell
is that smell
pungent
and repugnant
musty
and sharp
that sticks
to the back
of the tongue
and clogs
the airways
making the jaw
ache
in a grimace
of distaste
Little paws
reach out
to invite a pet
and nuzzle
so that little arms
can wrap around
to hug
you in close
as black and pink
toe beans
press warm
into cheeks
and a rough tongue
swipes
at your forehead
