Not always big.
Not always deep.
Sometimes
the drown comes
soft and sweet.
A tendril
that licks
against the skin,
brushing beneath
against the soul.

Weekly Creativity Prompt – My Summer
Pull (at least) three cards use them as the foundation to convey your ‘summer experience’ thus far for this year.
The Devil – I’ve played it a bit fast and loose as I expanded my deck collection this spring and summer, especially in the area of my playing card decks. It’s not as if I didn’t have the money to do so, though, and although it’s time to reign myself in now, it was a nice bit of escapism for a while.
Wheel of Fortune – Despite my spending, things haven’t been all -that- bad so far this summer. There’s been a good bit of ups and downs, and I’ve spent a lot of time working on finding my center and keeping my balance as chaos reins in the world around me, but most of the upheavals (other than the major global one anyway) have been somewhat minor and only created ripples instead of waves on the smooth surface of my life.
The Hierophant – Over the spring and summer, I’ve rediscovered my great joy for teaching others, as well as providing them with guidance and help even beyond the tarot. I’ve very much enjoyed the opportunity to teach others and learn from them in turn, and I’m looking forward to continuing to do so, even if I’ve taken a little break from teaching formal classes over June and July.

Lack of access
and a touch of laziness
has lead to
lack of availability.
Sad to say
now it’s too late
and I’m missing
the harvest
I desire.
Due to the huge lockdown from the pandemic this spring, I didn’t get to plant the Lobelia that I usually plant alongside my pansies each year. Sadly, that means now in the peak of summer I find myself without the abundance of Lobelia that I’d usually have. I had a tinge of disappointment about that today… and maybe just a little bit of a pout on it as well.

Protected
and secure
you watch over me
and let me grow
you give me strength
in the stillness
that lets me find
my own path
and yet always there
to brush me off
and heal my wounds
should I trip
and fall.

Cold raindrops
year ’round,
and rivers
that freeze your toes.
Rocky shores
of gray and blue
the dead of summer
still holds chilly dew.
This is home
it is not warm
to anything
except the heart.
I love where I live. I live in a land of blues and grays and verdant greens. The rain drops here are cold all year round, and the oceans and rivers are freezing cold no matter what season it is. Evergreens flourish, hardy and strong…. and I love it all. It’s home, and proof that “cozy” does not always equate warm, because there’s nowhere more cozy to me than here.
