Seeds of Discontent

Today’s meditation was a ten minute long self-directed session based upon @crowtarotmjcullinane‘s Crow Affirmations card that says “Sacred Space: I am the creator of my sanctuary.

Crow Affirmations and The Housing Tarot's Page of WandsDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Page of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s willpower, drive, passions, motivation, priorities, values, and principles. This often translates into those that are beginning on a passion project and learning what is needed to start such a journey.

I hate house cleaning. Truly despise it. The thing is though? This attitude creates an issue. The less you clean, the more the dust and disarray buildup. This then results in discontent within those spaces. And, the cycle repeats… and repeats… and so on, building upon itself with each repetition.

I have a housekeeper, yes. But she’s shit on the dusting. I’ve tried to teach her, but she remains shit on the dusting. Now, don’t get me wrong. She’s still worth every penny, because she’s brilliant on the kitchen and bathrooms.

And yet still… the dust is relentless.

Today’s cards are a reminder that the sacred spaces in my home, as well as the sacred space that is my home, are in need of some attention. Perhaps yours is as well? My discontent with these spaces is directly related to their neglect, and the message for today is an encouragement to solve the problem by doing a little cleaning.

Oracle Reading with the Fairytale Oracle and Venelestis Botanical Oracle CollectionHow will your courage be tested this Autumn season?

Forbidden Chamber and Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus) – Call upon yourself to challenge authority. Look at those places where you are toeing the line and blindly obeying instead of thinking things through and stepping outside the box. Like the monarch butterfly, no one can (or should) be dictating your path forward but you.

How will your strength be tested this Autumn season?

True Name and Red Pine Mushroom (Lactarius deliciosus) – It’s only through looking within that you can truly understand your own motivations and hone in on what goals should be taking priority. Looking within is hard, especially when confronting parts of yourself you don’t want to acknowledge or deal with. It’s necessary, though. Stand strong and foster a healthy heart, mind, and soul by taking time this Autumn to suss out those things needing healed or purged.

How will your faith be tested this Autumn season?

Magic Mirror and Trametes versicolor (Turkey Tail Fungus) – All human cells have a limit to how many times they can divide (aka the Hayflick Limit) with the exception of cancer cells, which have no limit to their division and thus no limit to their reproduction.

The negative voice in your head is like cancer cells, and can spread just like a cancer if left unchecked. You have been flirting around the edges of your depression for some time now. Instead of flirting with the edge of that deep dark pit, it’s time to pick up your tools that provide a counterbalance of optimism and positivity and can help you put distance between yourself and that edge.

Other elements included in this reading:
Dried Rhododendron Leaves for Fostering Confidence
Gneiss Stone for Patience in Moments of Discomfort
Moss Agate for Attracting Opportunity and Abundance
Carnelian Agate for Inner Drive and Focusing On Aspirations
Selenite for Purification and Drawing in Positive Energy

Tarot Reading with The Housing Tarot and Mycelia: The Strategic Mushroom Game CardsWhich of my talents can I utilize more right now?

Three of Pentacles and Ruby Bolete (Hortiboletus rubellus) – Be selective. You’re in a vulnerable moment right now. Make sure that, although it’s necessary to invite others in to lend their help and support, you stick to those that are trustworthy and not going to spring unpleasant surprises on you.

How can I find more joy in the little things?

The Sun atop King of Wands; Beefsteak Fungus (Fistulina hepatica) – Put your formidable willpower into the task of seeking out that joy. This endeavor is not just limited to the positivity and optimism activities that you’re already doing, but needs to reach beyond that into other activities (such as your photography, for example) that give you the same type of positive lift and influence.

Other elements included in this reading:
Foraged Wood Fern for Exorcising Negative Influences
Aragonite for Truth and Understanding
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

Liminal Space Tarot's Five of SwordsThe @GlitterbyInk #MayTag25 Challenge
Celebrating Our Community Prompt for May 18 : Patient

Today’s draw is the Five of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of tests, trials, and conflict in the area of one’s thoughts, intellect, ambitions, and communication. This can often translate into themes that have to do with winning at any cost, disagreements, and occasionally defeat if you end up on the wrong side of the conflict.

If you want to win, then sometimes you  have to play the “long game”.

Not all achievements can be instant gratification, and sometimes it can look as if you’re losing right up until the end. I*t can be hard to stay motivated in these situations, as more and more in the present time we are being inundated with instant gratification and convenience.

The thing is, though? There really is merit to the saying that “the things worth having are worth working/fighting for”. And that means having the patience to wait and take things one step at a time, sometimes without any clear indication of success along the way, instead of rushing headlong or giving up.

How I Got There – I feel that my interpretation for this card may be less than obvious and need a little explanation.  When you look at the image in this card, this crooked hallway is dark and seems endless and uncertain as you can’t see what’s around the next bend.

You’re not here in this hallway to be here. You’re here to get somewhere else. Daylight. Food. Freedom. Your goal is somewhere ahead, but you have no idea how far. If you run, you could wear yourself out or get lost in the dark. So, you move forward… with patience. You’ll find your goal eventually, it just might take a while.

Oracle Reading with A Hare's Odyssey Oracle and Venelestis Botanical Oracle

What is the core stressor in my life at this time that is under my control to change?

See How Far You’ve Come and Magic Mushroom (Psilocybe cubensis) – Your perception of your accomplishments is warped by outside influences and negative inner narratives, making it hard to see the good you’ve done or how far you’ve come.

What has allowed this stress in my life to take root and grow?

Frolic and Vervain (Verbena officinalis) – You spend far too much time focusing upon and judging harshly what you consider to be your “lazy moments”. These judgements are a combination of an echo from the past and judgements of others that have sunk deep into the wounds opened at that time, and your inner narrative that now uses those echoes to lash out at you (and at times also motivate you in negative and unhealthy ways).

What can I do right now to help ease my stress and anxiety related to this issue?

Transformation and Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia) – Continue working on leaning into positivity and optimism. It often feels like a futile effort, but you are actually slowly training your brain to not always jump to the most negative narratives in self talk and world views.

Other elements included in this reading:
Pressed Pansy Flower for for Hearing the Heart More Clearly
Conch Shell Knot for Concentration, Clarity, and Determination
Wood Burned Bamboo marker for Luck and Foresight
Omarolluk for Protection and Bridging Liminal Divides
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy
