Ideas and Innovation

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Tarot Skrytych Svetu - Shadowscapes Tarot - Ace of SwordsToday’s draw is the Ace of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of the seed of new beginnings in the area of one’s intellect, education, ambitions, thoughts, and communication.

This often translates into themes that have to do with new ideas and interests, new contacts or ways to communicate with others, or new interests or educational pursuits.

The key aspect of this card that directs what I see in its message is that those that surround the blade are all swans and butterflies.  It’s not a menagerie, but rather an inner circle of winged friends.

The message in today’s card is a reminder to take time today to share your ideas with those around you that are a part of your inner circle. There’s a lot of things you can do to help those you care about, so don’t let moments of innovation remain silent and personal.  Share them with others instead.

I spent time with Gideon on his birthday today, and it felt really good.

Don’t Forget the Dog

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Pastoral Tarot - Six of SwordsToday’s draw is the Six of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of moving on, leaving behind difficulty for something better, and letting go.

Unlike the Eight of Cups, which has a similar theme but with an emotional aspect involved, in the Swords suit this theme is about strategy and logic. It’s about finding a better path for who you are and what you want, and leaving behind struggle and hardship in the process.

Here in this card we see a full family on their way, and their boat is empty of luggage.  They may not have taken goods or physical items with them, but they remembered what’s truly important.  They remembered the full family, including the dog.

Today’s card is a reminder that when looking to leave behind something that’s not working for you… don’t forget to take the love and loyalty along.  Everything else is expendable when it comes right down to it.

I took a 3 hour nap today. I didn’t mean to, but it happened and I’m trying my best not to feel negatively toward myself about it.

Loving Guidance

Britt's Third Eye Tarot - King of CupsToday’s draw is the King of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of a projective alpha energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, creativity, and intuition. This often translates into themes that have to do with strong leaders with understanding and emotionally supportive qualities.

What stands out to me the most in this card is the fact that the King of Cups holds a scale.  This isn’t the norm for the King of Cups, and yet it is fitting.

Gideon is my personal King of Cups, and he certainly assists me in staying in balance.  Not only that, but he seems to do it so smoothly and easily that it seems to weigh pretty much nothing at all.

Today’s card is a reminder that it’s okay to lean into those that help you in finding balance. It’s okay to need others and to let them in and let them help.  Everyone has different strengths, and it’s okay to appreciate and lean on those that have strengths that you do not.

Due to all the drama and crazy shit that’s gone on this week, I’ve extended my time off a few days to try and catch some of the rest that I just don’t feel like I’m getting.

Savoring Small Joys

Tarot of the Celtic Fairies - Three of SwordsToday’s draw is the Three of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of heartache, hurt, grief, and emotional pain.

What draws my eye in this card’s imagery is (not surprisingly) the two swans in flight at the bottom of the card that are tethered to each other.

What I see here is a message about savoring the moment… each moment, instead of allowing setbacks to hold you back from experiencing any joy at all.

The freedom of flight is possible, even when tethered.  It might not be as great as when you are free of leash and without ties… but that doesn’t mean it has to be so disappointing that you don’t try at all and stop looking for little joys that make the experience still worthwhile.

Housekeeper day!  And I now have a clean kitchen and clean bathroom.

Don’t Waste It

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Enchanted Love Tarot - Princess of Roses - Page of WandsToday’s draw is the Prince of Roses (Knight of Wands), which is traditionally a representation of a projective beta energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s passions, drive, willpower, and determination. This often translates into themes that have to do with going after one’s passions with a “all systems go” mentality, and diving headlong into those things that kindle one’s “inner spark”.

The Knight of Wands is often considered a mover and a shaker. There is so much energy bounding forward, eager and ready to dive into any passion set before them.

Showing up today, this card is a reminder that you have this energy within you as well.  It’s short lived, though, just like the rose in the figure’s hand on the card.  Once set loose to fly, it will only last so long.  Make sure you don’t waste a single moment of it, so that when the time comes to recharge?  You’re happy with the progress you’ve made.

Question for February 23rd
: Where in life is curiosity seeking your attention?

Golden Age of Romance Comics TarotReading Summary: Explore themes stability (King of Pentacles) and new ways of obtaining that security that you desire (Knight of Cups), but remember that if you move too slow and wait too long (Page of Pentacles), it might end up less fun than you thought and more responsibility than you’re ready for (The Emperor).

Take Away: Strike while the iron is hot.  Those things you want most like stability and security are within your reach if you’re ready to actively explore the opportunities that are arising.

Just make sure if you move too slowly you might miss out on the fun parts and be stuck with just another responsibility that needs tending to. Don’t let that happen.

Questions for February 23rd and 24th

Enchanted Love Tarot and Anatomy of a Witch OracleWhat dreams should I follow that I have not taken action on?

The Hermit and Serpent – You crave alone time, and yet you know that at the time being it is not healthy for you and can be dangerous instead of healing. Especially if you’re not careful with how you spend it and where. This doesn’t mean that you need to set the idea of alone time aside, but that you need to take care in how you indulge in it.

What bigger goal should I still aim to achieve moving forward?

Align and Ace of Gems – It can be hard to take advantage of new opportunities that come your way when you constantly feel like your plate is already full. You need to continue working towards finding a balance between responsibility and allowing others to help, so that you can provide yourself space for those opportunities when they arise.

The Hard Way

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Victorian Romance Tarot - The HierophantToday’s draw is the Hierophant card, which is traditionally a representation of the teachers of tradition. This involves organizations like churches and those that work there like priests, ministers, etc as well as wise women and wise men, spiritual guides, grandparents teaching family traditions, deans or principles that teach school traditions, etc.

What catches my attention in the imagery of today’s card is that it almost looks like the monk is helping to hold up the man at his side.   I’m sure it’s unintentional, but that is what it looks like to me today.

This makes the card feel like it’s saying that sometimes you have to learn things the hard way… and that’s okay.

Philosophical Question for February 22nd
:What is love?

Eros et Psyche OracleLove gives us a whole roller coaster of emotions. Note that, even in the Doubt and Indecision card that the figures are still holding hands.

Sometimes we can’t all be on the same page all the time, and sometimes everything is wine and roses. Love is when we stick with others through it all (The Lady Who Waits)… the good and the bad (contrast between the Doubt and Indecision card and the Joy and Jubilation card).

They call the beginning of a relationship “the honeymoon phase” for a reason.  But in love?  Not everything can be good and happy all the time.  These cards indicate that love is about the good and the bad, and being together through it all instead of letting go and walking away.

Questions for February 22nd and 24th

Victorian Romance TarotHow can I more clearly convey my love to others?

Five of Cups and Page of Wands – Put away your pessimism and negativity so that they can better enjoy their time with you and get to know you better.

How do I receive love from others?

The Hanged Man Rx and Knight of Cups – Sometimes other peoples love languages don’t match up with yours and you find it confusing. Don’t expect others to always communicate in your love language. It doesn’t make their love any less for being communicated differently.

How can I more clearly receive love from others?

Eight of Wands and The Magician – Just accept what they have to offer and see it for what it is. Love.
