The Guardian of the Night Pocket Tarot - TemperanceThe @GlitterbyInk #NovemberWhispers25 Liminal Dreamland Challenge
Truth-Teller Prompt for November 11
: Midwife
Daily Mental Health Prompt
: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Temperance card, which is traditionally a representation of moderation, balance, slowing down, practicing patience, and can at times represent a connection between the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

When a woman is expecting, sometimes they choose to involve a midwife. This midwife is a person who provides guidance for the health and safety of both mother and child. They become a force in the pregnancy that promotes moderation and temperance.

Their guidance is there to help instill not just enthusiasm, but also patience, for a pregnancy is a long journey of nine months and there’s very little immediacy involved.

The message in today’s card combined with the “midwife” prompt is a reminder that even during times when you are very excited and your enthusiasm is high, make sure that you are adding a little bit of moderation and temperance into your approach. That’s not saying to rain on your own parade or ruin the experience, merely make sure that your health and safety are taken into account on the journeys that you choose to go on.

The Alchemist and The Persona – As you move forward in your journey there will be both hard times and easy ones. Tarot Reading with The Guardian of the Night Pocket Tarot and Whispers From the Animal Heart OracleAshes (Release) – What must burn away so only the essence remains?

Eight of Pentacles and Bear – It’s time to consider cutting down on all those superfluous things you add to your work and business. Look at what’s not doing well and what’s not selling, and release these things so that those that really do shine can thrive. Bone (Essence) – What is indestructible in me, what remains when all else is gone?

Ace of Wands and Elephant – Your passion to help others and to give of yourself is an integral part of who you are. Even when your creative spark is at its lowest, your desire to help and support others continues on.

The Somnia Tarot Revised Edition - The Death CardThe @GlitterbyInk #NovemberWhispers25 Liminal Dreamland Challenge
Deam-Weaver Prompt for November 6
: Nightmare
Daily Mental Health Prompt
: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Death card, which is traditionally a representation of gradual organic changes, loss, slow moving transitions, and letting go.

As a tarot reader, the Death card is the number one card (even above the Devil card) in getting negative reactions from clients. It’s an undeserved reputation, but a visceral reaction.

People uneducated in tarot often see the card and their first reaction is “oh shit, it’s going to predict my death” or “oh shit, it’s predicting the death of someone close to me.”

The thing is, though, that the Death card is far more nuanced than that. Although it can be about death in a literal sense, it’s more often a representation of changes taking place in someone’s life. Often, it’s the things that we know are coming, but that we ignore until we can’t ignore them anymore.

The messages in today’s card and the “nightmare” prompt is a reminder to not just take things at face value and assume that’s how things are. Go deeper. Look at what lies beneath and for the nuances. Like the Death card, many things in life are not what they appear at surface level, and you need to delve in to really understand what’s going on or what’s being said.

The Empress Spread

The Empress Tarot Reading with the Mercury Tarot and The Wild Soul Oracle

What is ready to grow in your life?

Five of Pentacles and The Butterfly – You are learning to process your feelings of scarcity differently, and are beginning to see asking for help in a different light. Remember that you are at the very beginning of this journey, and give yourself the space and grace to grow without pressure or harsh judgements.

How do you nurture yourself and others?

The Star and The Worm – Your efforts of leaning into hope and positivity provide a sense of renewal not just for yourself, but also for others. These messages of hope and positivity provide a sense of empowerment and nurturing energy that encourages growth.

Where can you invite more beauty and pleasure?

Queen of Pentacles and The Guinea Pig – Allow yourself to experiment and explore those things that you are passionate about, and it will inspire others to join you in doing the same. Some people need to see first, in order to do it themselves. Your pioneering efforts give them inspiration to explore their own passions… which is something you notice, appreciate, and find a great deal of beauty in.

Tarot Reading with The Somnia Tarot Revised EditionMy Greatest Strength

Three of Coins – Your willingness to learn from others. You are always eager to learn and expand your knowledge and skill set, and open to others showing you new ways to do things in pursuit of that expansion.

My Greatest Weakness

Death – Your resistance to change. It’s not really that unusual a trait, the tendency to balk at change. That resistance is ingrained in many people. It holds you back and makes life far more difficult than it needs to be, though. It’s the one thing in your life that creates the greatest (and most plentiful) obstacles on your path.

Finding Balance

Two of Swords atop Six of Cups – Learn from your younger self how to choose to take on change as an adventure, rather than something to fight against or fear.

Other elements included in this reading:
Staghorn Sumac for Connecting Deeper with Nature and the Wild
Conch Shell Knot for Concentration and Clarity

Gneiss Stone for Patience in Moments of Discomfort
Carnelian Agate for Inner Drive and Focusing On Aspirations
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

Gid and I started new characters to give me a “soft top” character that I was feeling the need for.

❤️ Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Self Care Saturday Reading with The Somnia Tarot 1st Edition and Materia Medica Oracle 1st Edition

EarthTwo of Cups – Finances, good health, and stability in life is not something that is yours alone to deal with. It’s a team effort between those who share the same values and resources as you, and have committed to making things work with you. Don’t take all of it on your shoulders alone.

AirThe Chariot – Be proactive in your mental health, as well as in areas that need a bit of strategizing to go how you want them to. Now is the time to show your intent and steer things in the right direction. Make plans, strategize, and take hold of the reigns. Take note, though… this is not a solo job.   In the Chariot, one person holds the reigns to steer while others pull.  Take the Earth’s advice above to heart.

WaterPage of Swords Rx – Not all emotions can be reasoned with. It sucks, but it’s true. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner, or advanced in your emotional intelligence, sometimes you just have to let it go, and let it flow. Face in the direction you want to move in, then try letting things write themselves this week instead of trying to find a way to force it.

FireStrength atop Ten of Swords Rx – Hiding from your problems will only allow them to linger even longer. This week is a good time to play to your strengths, and convince yourself to get up and do the things that need to be done.

WaningBloodroot and Elderberry – “Be the bigger man,” and resist the urge to respond to toxicity and unpleasantness with childish impulses.

WaxingMarshmallow and Oak – Your integrity and strength is bolstered by those moments when you are able to detach and to be objective. Make sure that you are allowing room for moments of non-biased perspective this week.

Take Away – The subdrop is easing up but you’re still going to experience a few moments of irrationality.  Take care to give yourself a step back and time to think things through before you react. If you keep your focus on where you -want- to go, you’ll get there.  The movements may not be at the speed you’d like, but you’ll still be moving in the right direction.

Other elements included in this reading:
Dried Rhododendron Leaf for Fostering Confidence
Conch Shell Knot for Concentration and Clarity
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

📆 Transitioning from February to March

End of Month Check-In Tarot Reading with The Somnia Tarot

Here and Now I Exist – Who you are now, in your entirety.

Queen of Swords – It’s time to rise. Leave behind what is needed to rise to your potential, and accept help from those in the know rather than doing all the work yourself. You can put on an unaffected front even if you are more deeply involved in the equation than it seems. The Queen is the power behind the crown (as opposed to beneath it), guiding the way, as each powerful and wise King has one whispering in their ear.

The Slough – What is to be left in the past as you move forward.

Knight of Pentacles – Practicality and slow movement can only get you so far. The time for movement and action is now upon you. Leave the drag of sluggishness behind and get moving.

What Lies Ahead – An ideal state or ideal self you are seeking at this time.

Two of Wands – To move forward you have to have a plan. Don’t waist the time of stillness in inaction that you’re unable to get past or control, but instead use it wisely to plot your course forward.

Limitations – Negative influences, opposition, or ill will.

Seven of Cups Rx – Take care that you don’t become stymied by too many options. If you don’t stay laser focused on what you want and the opportunities that can get you there, you will become mired in indecision.  Lots of options isn’t always a good thing, so don’t let them become a distraction.

The Boon – Positive influences, higher guidance, or divine intervention.

King of Swords – Decisiveness is the key to getting where you want to go. Listen to good sense, and don’t let those previously mentioned opportunities that have nothing to do with your end goals distract you and bog you down. Now’s not the time to become scattered, but rather to strategize and make strong, focused decisions.

The Wound – An unpleasant past experience or event that is ripe for some support and healing.

The Chariot – Remember that even in times when you are forced into a corner, you still have choices and autonomy. In those moments, you may feel powerless, but just because your options are limited doesn’t mean there are none. It just may take some creative thinking to continue moving things forward in the direction you want to go.

Nostalgia – A positive past experience or event to acknowledge, reflect upon, and enjoy.

The Tower – Remember with every “shit happens” that you have survived, you have become stronger. It may feel like the world around you is crumbling, but it’s only adding to the ground beneath your feet, lifting you up so that you will sit higher, and thus have higher ground for the next round.

A Warning – Something coming that can be prevented or overcome.

The Hanged Man – Delay in stagnancy is all well and good when you have something to contemplate, but sometimes it’s just a delay for the sake of a delay. You have the opportunity to mitigate the effects of that if you stay focused on your goals.

Empowerment – A future opportunity to work toward.

The World – Finding the finish line isn’t always easy, and sometimes even when you reach it you think you have a long way yet to go. Make sure you are paying attention so that you don’t miss your moment to finish things.

Message from the Spirit World – Use your times of stillness to strategize towards finishing things.

Message from the Mind’s World – Times of slowness can allow you to seek council in plotting your course.

Message from the Physical World – Seize control of your moments of indecision in order to avoid chaos and possible tragedy.

Take Away – After a very long time that felt like stagnant inactivity where life and the cards both seemed to be saying to “wait” and let things move at their own pace, here is a call to action. It’s time to begin moving again, and the first step to that is planning and strategy. Time to get your ducks in a row.

Snuffing Out Candles

Today’s meditation was skipped. (Not a surprise, right?)

The Somnia Tarot and How to Be a Wildflower DeckToday’s draw is the Nine of Wands, which is traditionally about boundaries, protection, resilience, and the testing of one’s strength and faith.

I get an intuitive hit off of the imagery in both of these cards and how they connect to each other.  This speaks to me in a voice of encouragement, and says that it’s okay to compartmentalize a bit, but not to turn my emotions off.

My business has grown exponentially over the past ten years. And… so have I.   But I forget sometimes that growth isn’t just about effort and work.  In fact, I often try to close off everything but the work and emotion, especially during this time of year when the holiday rush is upon me.

These cards are a reminder that I don’t have to protect myself from my emotions, nor protect my business from them. A bit of compartmentalizing while still allowing them some attention and freedom to breathe will serve me much better than snuffing them out by trying to close them away.
