Let’s Wing It

#DailyTrip with the Calm app - Sayadaw U Tejaniya quoteToday’s meditation was ten minutes long, and was a #DailyTrip session from the Calm app.  The session itself was only eight minutes, but I lingered for another two because it felt a little too short.

The session was about doing nothing, and essentially walked you through eight minutes of doing just that… nothing.  It guided you back to that “nothing” again and again whenever the mind starts to stray or the attention begins to be pulled in one direction or another, bringing you back to that “nothing” again and again throughout the session.

You would think a meditation like this would be easy, but it’s not until you actually try it that you realize just how much stuff goes through your head from minute to minute throughout the day.

“Winging it” really is a thing.  A very useful and extremely helpful thing. It can terrify others (or even yourself) when the question of “what are we going to do” comes up and your answer is “I dunno.  Let’s see what happens!”  And yet?  Some of the absolute greatest successes (and most massive failures) come out of that sense of adventure that allows you to “just wing it” now and then.

Don’t forget about the magic in this. Enthusiasm and winging it can set the world on fire.

Daily Self Kindness

I packed up and took a set of work stuff to Ms B’s today.  It really bothers me that a lot of times when I’m at her house, I’m wasting hours of my day just sitting around so that she has some company for a bit.  By bringing a set of supplies/tools there, I can at least get something productive done during that time, even if I’m working on it a little at a time instead of finishing projects in one fell swoop.
