Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Fanuna's Tarot - The Hanged Man and The Healing Mantra Deck

Today’s draw is The Hanged Man, which is traditionally a representation of taking a pause, considering alternate perspectives, relaxing into difficult situations, surrender, or letting go.

The Hanged Man card has then been combined with the Honoring Adversity card from The Healing Mantra Deck, which says, “A fire reveals a path of renewed direction once the burning is complete.”

If all you do during unexpected events is try to mitigate their effects and respond to what’s emergent, you are missing out on the opportunity to find how the situation could benefit you.

Even disastrous chaos comes with an aftermath, and within that aftermath new things grow. Instead of trying to turn back time or mitigate damages, sometimes it’s beneficial to look at what’s happening and find the boon.

The message in today’s Hanged Man card and affirmation is a reminder for us not to get so caught up in the moment when things are going awry or adversity arises that we lose track of the potential that that moment holds for us.

Tarot Reading with the Femme la Florale Tarot and Riley Sheehey Playing Cards

Where do I need to foster more joy and happiness in life?

Three of Pentacles and Ace of Spades

Cooperation between you and others works best when you are open in your communication with them. This makes for a happier work environment, as well as a more cohesive team relationship between you and the others. Keep in mind that closing yourself off stunts the team as a whole and lowers morale, making life and interactions far more difficult than they need to be.

How can I encourage that joy to flourish in my future?

Death Rx atop Six of Cups; Eight of Hearts

Focus on fostering balance in areas of joy and happiness through building new things together, as opposed to trying to sustain what’s already been done.

Don’t allow your team to rest in stagnancy. Invite new ideas and innovation instead, and share your own with them as well.

Other elements included in this reading:
Foraged Oak Branch with Moss and Lichen for Perseverance
Calcite for Gently Calming the Mind and Stimulating Insights

Tarot Reading with the Fanuna's Tarot

Ten of Wands Rx – Stop taking everything upon your shoulders alone. Put down the burden and let it burn if you need to. You can always pick up the pieces that are left over later on and create something new from them.

Five of Wands – Turn moments of conflict with others into brainstorming opportunities. Let everyone be heard and discuss opinions and options instead of arguing or shutting others down.

Justice Rx – Don’t expect everything to be fair all the time. It’s a part of not being able to please everyone all the time that there’s going to be times someone gets the short end of the stick. Sometimes it will be you, and sometimes you need to let it be someone else.

Other elements included in this reading:

Carnelian Agate for Inner Drive and Focusing On Aspirations

Wheel of the Year Tarot - Nine of Swords and The Healing Mantra Deck

Today’s draw is the Ten of Swords, which is traditionally a representation long journeys coming to an end, painful endings, lessons learned the hard way, deep wounds, and sometimes can indicate loss or betrayal.

The Ten of Swords has then been combined with Sharing Shame card from The Healing Mantra Deck, which says, “When I share my deepest pain, I give myself permission to be.”

Sometimes, when we trip over one of our own triggers, or someone else trips them for us, it can feel like the end of the world.

Yesterday I had that experience for myself when my closest friend spoke words to me that echoed the insidious negative self talk that has whispered in my head for decades.

He did not use these words in the same context as that narrative in my head, and yet because I’ve heard that narrative all day every day for years on end, when the words came out his mouth, I immediately heard them in the same context as that narrative.

As a result, even though we talked things out after my panic subsided from this experience, I spent the rest of the day quietly bleeding on the inside while pretending I was fine.

It wasn’t until I got home and could be alone that I allowed myself to cry, but even then it wasn’t until I shared with someone (Gideon) what was going on in my head and what I was feeling that I started to feel as if I was becoming a bit more steady.

And here’s where the message in today’s Ten of Swords and affirmation card come into focus. Sometimes when you’re hurting, keeping that pain to yourself only prolongs the hurt and uncertainty. Am I magically all better now that I’ve talked out what was going on in my head with someone? No, I admit that I’m not; but it does help. It helps to share, even when we don’t want to and would prefer to just crawl up in a corner alone somewhere to lick our wounds.

Cartomancy Reading with Yoga The Spiritual Liberation Playing Cards and Vicious Garden Game Cards

Something I want to make more space for in my everyday life

Bloomeria, Nine of Spades (Rubber Plant), Clotted Murff

Strength training, hiking, and other activities that push at your current limits.

You want to participate in more of the activities that foster physical stability, aware that in doing so you give your body a chance to feel better and flourish, and also ease some of your gut health problems in the process.

Fear and uncertainty hold you back, as well as your unwillingness to work through the additional pain involved.

Something I want to spend less energy on

Two of Spades (Snake Plant) atop Two of Diamonds (Gerbera Plant), Wumplebud

You want to spend less of your energy waffling in indecision to the point that that indecisiveness begins to upset the balance of everything in your life.

Indecision spreads and overpowers one segment of life at a time. It starts off small, and grows so quickly and easily that it begins choking out the good stuff in your life in no time flat.

A boundary that supports my well-being

Three of Hearts (Poinsettia Plant), Scuttlebloom

Take care you are not bending over backward just to please others. Groveling for their attention and good favor is not healthy for you or them.

Remember that it’s possible to course correct with dignity, instead of by debasing yourself or your values.

Steadiness Prompt for August 20th
: What does steady progress look like for me?

Tarot Reading with the Wheel of the Year Tarot

Reading Summary: A little uncertainty and discomfort (The Moon) while still being in tune with what’s right for you (The Lovers). Focusing less on what feels good (Knight of Cups Rx), and more on what feels right (The Lovers).

Take Away: Steady progress means slowing down in order to become more in tune with what truly aligns with who I am and who I want to become, instead of allowing uncertainty and discomfort to cause me to halt, or the temptations of pleasure to tempt me into charging forward without a clear direction.

Sometimes it’s hard to accept that what -feels- good isn’t always what’s right for us. This is true with activities, with people and relationships, and with the choices we’re confronted with every day.

It’s only in slowing down that we are able to feel our way through what is right for us… and what isn’t.

Jamie Sawyer's Tarot 33.6 Red Pencil Sketches - The Sun

Today’s draw is The Sun card, which is traditionally a representation of success, optimism, positivity, fun and frivolity. In my practice, the Sun is also a symbol of masculine vitality, virility, and warmth.

The Sun card has then been combined with the Creating Cooperation card from The Healing Mantra Deck, which says, “More gets accomplished when everyone has a role to play.”

I’m not gonna say that you can’t have success by doing it all on your own, for that isn’t true. But, what I see these cards saying today is that success is more pleasurable and satisfying, greater and more enjoyable, when it is shared with others.

By delegating the workload, not only do you get to take pleasure and satisfaction from the success of your endeavor, but you get more enjoyment along the way throughout the process because you have more freedom and space to savor the journey.

The message in today’s Sun card and affirmation is that in most of the goals that you choose to pursue on your own, consider how inviting others to join in and help out might improve the experience. Not just the end result, but the experience in getting there as well. In most cases, you will find that by including others in your endeavors, those endeavors become more enjoyable as a whole.

How can I better connect with my inner adolescent?

Seven of Swords; Tension and Hunger

Acknowledge the trials you went through, and the fucked up things that you did back then to survive. These things stole away your innocence, but we’re a necessary part of survival at that time. It’s time to stop judging yourself so harshly for them.

How does my inner adolescent feel right now?

Knight of Pentacles; Omen, Lantern, Map

Hyper-vigilant. These experiences in your adolescence are how you developed the “Mr Fix It” tendencies you carry to this day.

Your inner adolescent started out as a child and developed into a problem solver out of necessity. They are still stuck in this hyper-vigilant problem solver mindset all these years later after you have already become an adult, always on alert for the next problem to arise so they can head it off at the pass.

Where might a gentle conversation resolve a conflict?

Tarot Reading with Jamie Sawyer's Tarot 33.6 Red Pencil Sketches

The Magician Rx – Powerlessness is not your strong suit, nor is expressing yourself and how you feel when you are stuck within a cycle that includes your hands being tied.

The Devil atop Nine of Pentacles – At these times, instead of giving into the temptation of sitting back on your laurels and appreciating what you have while you wait for things to pass, step forward and communicate with those around you. Share with them how you are feeling and what you are experiencing. Be kind to yourself in this communication.

Ten of Pentacles – In doing so you don’t just invite others in to support you when you need a little bolstering, but also to be there when things smooth out and help you put things to right in your life once again.

Take Away: When you are struggling, approach family and friends with how you are feeling. Not with accusations and demands, but with an open dialogue that is kind and forgiving to both yourself and others. Confiding in them and enlisting their support helps everything return to a more stable status quo far easier than it otherwise would.

How Brightly We Shine

Today’s meditation was a ten minute long #DailyCalm session from the @Calm app.

•    •    •    ◈    •    🌻    •    ◈    •    •    •

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

The Infinite Tarot of Hekate 100 - Prince of Pentacles

Today’s draw is the Knight of Pentacles (Prince), which is traditionally a representation of an active, projective beta energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s finances, resources, health, home, labors, and manifestations. This often translates into a slow moving but determinedly forward moving energy, personality, or person that has their eye on the prize regardless of the slow and steady speed they may be moving at.

The Prince of Pentacles has then been combined with the Expressing Free Will card from The Healing Mantra Deck, which says, “My choices determine how brightly I shine.”

Do you want to be a comet that shines bright in a sudden flash in the sky and is then gone forever? Or do you want to be a star in the heavens burning bright night after night for generations to come?

Both shine, but the former burns out far too fast for me personally, here and gone in an instant. The latter is steadfast, steady, and dependable… energy far more compatible to my own.

I feel that it’s become far more prevalent that people seek these days to fall into the mindset of the comet than the star, or perhaps it’s just that as I strive to embrace the mindset of the star, I am noticing the comets more and more?

Today’s Prince of Pentacles and affirmation encourages us to considering mindset we prefer, why we prefer it, and to be mindful in alighting ourselves to embrace both sides within ourselves even as we try to strengthen one over the other in our day to day lives.

What inner injury from my childhood needs healing?

Temperance atop The Empress; Courage

You crave nurturing mother energy because this was something you didn’t get your fill of as a child.

While the lack of this energy gave you a strength of courage and determination to be independent and fight your own battles, it has left your inner child feeling neglected and bereft.

How can I begin working on healing that injury?

Four of Air and The Return

Consider putting to rest the differences that have created a chasm between yourself and your mother.

Try connecting again with who brought you into this world. Even if the effort doesn’t work out, your inner child feels the need to try after so long separated from her.

Venus enters Libra, Venus trine Saturn – How might strengthening a boundary create relationship harmony?

Wheel of Fortune and Nine of Pentacles

There is truth in Rita Mae Brown’s adage that “insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”.

Success comes from changing things up and adapting your approach, not doing things by rote just because that’s always how they’ve been done.

Beating your head against stone will not break the stone. Don’t wait for that to change on its own. Be proactive. Get a hammer.

Equilibrium – Where can I practice more patience?

The Moon and High Priestess

Listen to your gut when it comes to determining when something doesn’t seem right tor feels dangerous. Don’t berate yourself as a coward or worrywart, instead seek out that gut feeling and trust what it’s trying to tell you. Pause and listen.

Harmony – How are beauty and harmony showing up in my life?

Four of Cups and Eight of Cups

Instead of ignoring the help others offer you, and as a consequence having to deal with anxieties that trigger your need to run, you are choosing to communicate these fears and anxieties with those closest you that you trust to listen and take you seriously.
