Celtic Tarot: Fate of the Norns (Oracle Deck) and the Mushroom Affirmations DeckDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Three of Swords (Air/Reed), which is traditionally a representation of depression, grief, and disappointments. This theme often seems strange to people, being that it is seated in the Swords suit (which is often all about intellect and the mind), but it is important to remember that how we react emotionally is often rooted in how we think and what expectations we create for ourselves before everything falls apart.

This card depicts the oppression of the Fir Bolg (Children of Builge) by the Druids.

The Three of Swords card has then been combined with the Purple Pinwheel affirmation card from the Mushroom Affirmations deck, which says, “Make yourself seen, no matter how small you think you are.”

Sometimes you have to make some noise, and even align with people that you may not normally align with, in order to be seen, acknowledged, and taken seriously. Sadly, it’s not always enough to try and stand alone, and you need the help of others with a louder voice than yours is.  In these times, the adage “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” rings true, and it can be beneficial to align with these others for a time to get done what needs done.  Just as the Fir Bolg teamed up with their enemies to force the Druids to acknowledge them.

The message in today’s cards is a reminder that sometimes you have to think outside the box… and connect outside the box, in order to be heard. There’s always going to be people out there that will tread all over your rights, boundaries, and needs if you let them.  These people will disappoint you again and again.  The key is to make sure you can enforce these boundaries and rights, and stand up for yourself.  Sometimes that means getting help from others that can help bolster your own voice.

The Star Oracle Reading with The Nereid Oracle

What hope guides you?

Drymo – The hope that guides you is that the struggles and strife, woes and pains we go through in life actually have meaning and lift us up, providing us with the opportunity to become better, stronger, more enlightened souls.

Where does your inner light shine?

Amatheia – Your inner light shines brightest in those times when you stand strong for your values and defend those things and people that you deem worthy of self-sacrifice to protect.

How are you being called back to your true self?

Euarne – You spend far too much time bending and contorting to avoid the discomfort of change. Let go of your reluctance, and allow yourself to float and flow instead of fighting against the tide.

What path are you ready to follow?

Galene – In an echo of the previous card’s advice, you are ready to experience less struggle and less strife, while leaning into going with the flow more often. You’ve come to understand that fighting against the currents ushering you along your path only creates more struggle and more strife than what you’re already going through.

Oracle Reading with Celtic Tarot: Fate of the Norns (Oracle Deck) and Spirit Animals Journey into the Wild OracleBlood (Lineage) – What flows in my veins that binds me to kin and story?

Cú Chulainn / Birch and Beaver – I read a book recently (How to Love a Forest: The Bittersweet Work of Tending a Changing World) that spoke about the life and death of forests. In this book, it mentioned the beaver and how, along with its creativity and unique industriousness, it is also a harbinger of destruction.

This is because the beaver blocks up waterways and sometimes starves certain areas of water while routing the water and other directions that feed the forest and other areas. This speaks to me of a foundation of give-and-take. There’s always good there’s always bad, and they play off of each other depending on the choices we make and the repercussions of those choices.

This theme carries into the story of Cú Chulainn and his choice as a child to take on the role of the blacksmith’s loyal guard dog after he killed the man’s dog.

Combined with these two factors is also the birch ogham, which is one of the tools that the beaver uses in his work, and joins the beaver in the first card to the story of Cú Chulainn in the second.

Take Away – What flows within your veins that binds you to your kin and their stories is ingenuity and industriousness combined with an innate need for fairness and balance. These things are a part of who you are that are inherited from those in your past that you may not have personally met, but whose blood still runs in your veins.

Cauldron (Alchemy) – What is being broken down, mixed, and transformed within me?

Ogma / Vine and Hedgehog – Ogma is the god of eloquence, poetry and speech. He is a warrior of great skill, but he has a tendency to use his words more than his sword.

When I see hedgehogs, they always appear so vulnerable to me. They have these tiny little fingers and toes, and the fact that they roll up in a ball to protect this soft little pink belly is adorable to me.

The vine ogham on the Celt card then connects the animal card to the Celt card, speaking of a need to cling to safety and protection.

Take Away – You are becoming more adept at expressing your vulnerabilities in ways that don’t leave you open for them to be used by others. This is allowing you to cling to your safety net a little less and be more open with others instead.

The Constellation Tarot's Three of Cups and Lobilat Rumi Quotes CardsDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Three of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of friendships, revelry, celebration, and collaboration between those that are linked or alike not just in mind but also in heart.

The Three of Cups has then been combined with the an affirmation from the Lobilat Rumi Quotes deck, which says, “Peaceful is the one who is not concerned with having more or less less. Unbound by name and fame, he is free from sorrow from the world and mostly from himself.”

It’s our friendships and the time we spend together that matters most. Pursuits towards popularity, fame, consumerism, and monetary wealth, distract us from those things that are truly important in our lives, like spending time with loved ones and enjoying celebrating life with those around you.

The message in today’s cards is a reminder that societal pressures sometimes have a way of skewing our perspectives and nudging us “off track” in our values when we’re not looking. These cards are an encouragement to pause a moment and check in with our values so that we can make sure we are prioritizing what’s truly important above what isn’t.

The Tower Tarot Reading with the Coronatarot

Where is a storm brewing?

The Sun – This is a message that has been repeated multiple times recently in the cards… too much of a good thing is not a good thing. It’s time to look into those places where you are overindulging and pay attention to the potential for cataclysm that these areas could go through unexpectedly. And for fucksake, don’t forget to put the cover back over your crystal ball!

What can no longer be ignored?

The Magus Rx – You have a tendency to ignore the things that are bothering you until they either go away or come to a head. In this case, it would be better to deal with the fact that you are feeling powerless, and seek ways to improve that situation rather than ignoring it and hoping it will go away.

What foundation is crumbling?

Prince of Cups – It’s time to pay attention to where your trust is feeling a bit wobbly and unsteady. Look at what’s gotten past your defenses and under your skin, and consider if this sneaky bit of erosion is deserved or simply overlooked and needs dealing with.

Where is release necessary?

King of Wands – You need a passion outlet that will allow you to involve others in the process. Something that allows your creative spark freedom to flare, and at the same time allows others to be with you along the way so that you don’t feel so alone in the journey.

What can you rebuild with a clean slate?

Trump – Communication. You work hard to avoid talking politics with others. Especially those close to you that you know have an extreme contrast of opinion to yours. This has managed to preserve those relationships, but for how long when you refuse to communicate with them?

Instead of shutting them out, consider hearing what they have to say. You may be surprised at the shifting tide that’s been going on beneath the surface while you weren’t listening and we checked out.

Tarot Reading with The Constellation TarotReading Summary: Decisions are needed (Two of Swords). The winds of change are requiring you to make a choice in what things you leave behind and which ones you take with you as you move forward (Seven of Swords). Make sure that you are making choices that are in line with the kinds of success that you truly value (Nine of Pentacles).

Take Away: What are you leaning onto so determinedly, that instead needs to be let go? That is the question being posed by these cards. Where does true satisfaction lie for you, and what is most important to take with you in reaching those goals?

Once you figure this out, you will be better equipped to leave behind the stuff that is not fostering the goals that you wish to achieve, no matter how attached you may have become to the “stuff” in question.

CaTTarot - The Emperor and the Mushroom AffirmationsDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Emperor card, which is traditionally a representation of taking charge, responsibility, authority, structure, and focusing on the greater good.

The Emperor has then been combined with the Octopus Stinkhorn affirmation card from the Mushroom Affirmations deck, which says, “We get what we need when we show who we are on the inside and reveal our purpose.”

Sadly? You can’t be pretty all the time. Sometimes you just have to do what needs done and not worry so much about the optics.  It’s like that saying “you can’t please everyone all the time”.

For me, this means sometimes I have to do what I know to be right (or right for me), even if others don’t like it.   That is true whether I’m making decisions for myself… or making decisions for the greater good.   Nobody is always going to like those decisions I make.  I have had numerous times in the past where my obsession with fairness has gotten in the way of others taking advantage of nepotism… only to find I won’t even give myself favoritism, let alone anyone else.

The message in today’s cards is a reminder that in order to make friends and influence people?  You  have to be yourself.  Otherwise you’re kissing ass, and in turn you attract ass kissers. Instead?  Be yourself and attract those that really are worthy of your time and attention, as well as appreciate those quirks that make you… you.

Tarot Reading with The Little Monsters Tarot and Twist's Gratitude Postcards Oracle

Reading Summary: The stoop of the figure in the Seven of Wands matches with the curvature of the moon in the anchor card, speaking of cycles that come and go when it comes to the need to hold your ground or make peace.

The shape of the hat worn in the Five of Arrows and the cats ears are a match, this combines with the exact match in the angle of the arrows in that card and the cat’s tail.  These connections are a reminder to keep your ears open and your thinking cap on, for you will need the information you glean in order to retain the upper hand.

There is a lack of correspondence in the moon phases between the anchor card and the Child of Wands. This figure looks like it’s looking up at the anchor card and its moon with longing while turning its back on the crescent behind it, indicating a need for greater inspiration than what is currently present, and encourages using the upswing from the new moon to the next full moon to foster this motivational energy.

Lastly, there is a correlation between the dancing fire in the anchor card, and the left and right Wands cards that were pulled. These two Wands cards (the Seven of Wands and Child of Wands) bracket this dancing figure of flame and fire, speaking of a need to find a balance between what you know and what you need to learn in order to create a greater creative spark within you.

Take Away:  Finding happiness requires balance.  Balance between what you want and what others want. Balance between what you know, and what others want you to believe.  Balance, as well, between your own personal drive and the time needed to truly foster your creative spark into a greater flame.

These different aspects of balance require you to be open to hearing what others have to say, and watching what actions they take.  Don’t ignore warning signs, but use your abilities of observation to bolster your own knowledge.  It never hurts to listen, even if you don’t adopt their thoughts and values as your own. The information will still be useful.

Where am I being called to show up with dedication and care?

Seven of Diamonds, Four of Wands, Queen of Hearts – Your home is a place of safety and nourishment where you also do the lions share of your work when it comes to your business. You need to show patience in this area in order to create a healthier balance for your emotions.

Eight of Cups

What do I need to walk away or move on from?

Nine of Hearts, Knight of Swords, Five of Hearts – Stop being so rash in your decisions and immediately assuming the worst. When you assume the worst you give the worst permission to manifest. It then takes a lot more effort to get to a place of positivity and/or happiness… even in those times when the worst doesn’t actually happen.

When am I resistant to change?

Jack of Diamonds, Page of Wands, Two of Clubs – You don’t like it when your hard earned plans get disrupted by change. This is part of the reason that you’re so resistant to moving at a slower pace, as you feel that you must hurry to accomplish what you have planned before change can step in and screw everything up.

The Brady Tarot 2nd Edition - Two of Pentacles, Two of Roots and Lobilat Rumi Quotes CardsDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Two of Pentacles (Roots), which is traditionally a representation of juggling responsibilities, work/life balance, and prioritization.

The Two of Pentacles has then been combined with the an affirmation from the Lobilat Rumi Quotes deck, which says, “ If all you can do is crawl, start crawling.”

Balance in life is important, as it keeps the things we want and need in our lives running smoothly (including ourselves). This means that not all growth can be done with speed.  Sometimes, in order to keep things in balance in one’s life, we have to take growth slowly.  That way, even as we make progress, we don’t set other things off kilter.

The message in today’s cards is a reminder that slow growth is still growth, and when the growth we’re working for takes more time than expected?  That’s okay.  It just means that we’re managing to keep things in balance while we move forward.

The Lovers and Synchronicity – As long as they have their needs fulfilled and everything is going their way, then there is no need for hope in order to live a full and happy life.

Do we live to eat, or eat to live?

Five of Swords and Gnosis – These cards indicate that humanity lives to eat. We do not eat what we need, but rather we eat what gives us a lift of pleasure. This means that we’re never really happy with the stuff that’s good for us and we should be eating… only the stuff that really doesn’t do us any good at all but instead simply taste good or gives us a chemical boost of pleasure.

The Devil Tarot Reading with The Brady Tarot 2nd Edition

What is pulling you off your path?

Nine of Horns Rx – A lack of appreciation for the small things in life that make life worth living. You don’t spend enough time enjoying life and seeking out those things that bring you joy.

What is skewing your vision?

The Magician – The idea that you have to have all of the answers, and be able to fix anything that goes wrong. You need to give yourself permission to loaf off and/or step back instead of diving immediately into the “I can do it” mentality that has you volunteering for far too much.

Where have you lost your power?

Ten of Horns – As mentioned in the first question in this reading, you spent so much time looking ahead and working towards the future that you have forgotten to pause and see the value of the present and how good things are right now in this moment.

What lured you into the dark?

King of Arrows Rx – An overactive drive to do more and go farther that has become unhealthy. You are using your drive for success to abuse yourself.

What chains can you choose to break?

Wheel of Fortune – Stop looking at the unpredictability of life as your enemy or some kind of predator out to destroy all that you’ve built. Instead, consider the opportunities that life’s ups and downs create for you.

How can you stay in the light?

The Lovers – Make healthy choices. Although you can enlist those closest to you to help you and making those choices, remember that they have their own agendas at heart. Only you know what’s going to be right for you, so listen to their council, but be sure to touch in with yourself and what you need to be healthy and happy before you make any decisions.

Reading Break Down for SquirrelyStitches

On Instagram, I had a follower ask if I could break down how I came to the messages I did in this reading I did on November 16th.

squirrelystitches says:
If you ever have time and energy, I’d love to hear how you include the art in the interpretation for this deck 🙂 for example, I see nothing of Six of Cups in that card, but I’d be curious to see what you see.

Tarot Reading with The Oracle of Many Paths Tarot

What have I been taking for granted?

Six of Cups – The past is a powerful thing. Even the unpleasant memories helped in building you into the person you are today. Remember that the past is the building blocks of the present, as well as who you are and who you will become. Seek out the value that these memories and past experiences hold.

The Six of Cups asked me to think back… nostalgia is a key component of the traditional meaning for the Six of Cups, yeah? (granted, with the illustration alone, I probably still would have gone there)

I had my very first kiss in a canoe. I can’t really say it was good -or- bad, but I can say that I was a little too young… and that I swam back to shore.

When I saw the figure in the boat and the messy golden jumble of cups and liquid above them, it brought back a memory of those feelings in that moment, and how the incident shaped how I did things differently (where both sex and trust was concerned) moving forward.

What’s been holding me back from seeing my blessings clearly?

Justice – Your need for things to be fair and just causes you to find flaws in both the boons and banes of life. Your perceptions are polluted by this need for fairness and balance, causing you to dirty the good with guilt or shame, and place greater value on misfortune than necessary.

The illustration in the Justice card speaks to me of how forest fires burn, and the life that sprouts up from them after. Forest fires are both deadly and beneficial to a forest. It’s a give and take type situation. The smoke pollutes the air, the fire scorches the earth and everything in its way… and from that comes new life in the form of pyrogenic flowering (which the flowers in the field made me think of as they look like fireweed).

This cycle feels like how fairness doesn’t always -feel- fair, and balance doesn’t always -feel- like balance.

How can I better express my gratitude in the future?

Temperance – Remember; it’s not about quantity, but about quality.

This Temperance card is overrun with paths. Have you ever been to one of those subdivisions where there’s road after road after road of identical houses? All the houses look the same, all the yards look the same, all the roads look the same. There’s no individuality.

If you eat the same thing every day, it doesn’t matter how much you like it or how good it is for you, you’re going to end up hating it in the end and it’s probably -not- going to be good for you anymore.

What do I need to acknowledge gratitude for in my relationships?

Three of Wands – We travel together instead of solo. The direction set out before us is one that includes not just yourself, but those closest to you as well. Motivate not just yourself into moving forward, but others to come along with you, for they belong at your side.  When you “do it alone” you hem yourself in with extra unnecessary obstacles.

In this Three of Wands card, we have two ships heading out to open sea, and one corralled in a closed pond. This speaks to me a message about how you can go far with others at your side, and are often caged and limited when you try to do things alone.

What do I need to acknowledge gratitude for in my finances?

The Empress – Your relationship  with your partner works no matter what financial issues are involved. You can speak to each other about these issues without any expectations placed on each other to offer assistance, and without there being an offer made that might change the nurturing dynamics of the relationship.

This Empress card carries back to the card before it in the reading (Three of Wands) and the message it had for me. This is because if you look at the cards side by side? They run into each other and connect seamlessly together.

In this card the tree and the birds connect to Lenormand for me. Not because they’re birds but because they feel like fish? I’m not sure why I have this connection, but although I can clearly see they are birds, in my head they are jumping fish… speaking of financial matters.

Between the Fish and the Tree, we have a message of support that is not necessarily financial in nature… which connects to the message at the Three of Wands. This speaks of the connection between myself and Gideon and how there is tons of support in all kinds of ways… but nothing monetary involved.

What do I need to acknowledge gratitude for in my work life?

The High Priestess – Growth may be small and slow, but led by your intuition, it is happening. Life still resides within your business, regardless of the fact that it took a beating recently. You may feel adrift, but with the guidance of your intuition at the fore, the business will continue to thrive.

Little boats filled with mushrooms float in the sea. It’s not like they can steer their little boats, nor paddle their way to shore. This means that their growth is very limited. It’s at the whims of the water beneath the boat, yeah? This speaks to me of intuition, because it’s an “emotion” feeling type element that you have no control over.

This speaks of trust. Trust you will reach shore, carried by currents rather than paddling. Riding said currents with trust, is something I greatly associate with intuition (which is an element of the High Priestess card as well). Thus… ride the currents. Stay afloat. Stay alive. You’ll reach the shore eventually.

I hope that helped! Lemme know if you have any questions.

The Star String Tarot - The Hierophant and the Mushroom Affirmations CardsDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Hierophant card, which is traditionally a representation of traditions, spiritual guidance, long standing institutions, teachers and guides, and themes that deal with conformity and social norms.

The Hierophant card has then been combined with the Rosy Bonnet affirmation card from the Mushroom Affirmations deck, which says, “Look closer at the finer details. What are you not seeing?”

Sometimes, traditions are traditions for a reason. Before you discard something that has been done for years, decades, or centuries, take time to really get a closer look at what it is you’re discarding and why it’s persevered for as long as it has.  What value are you missing in your previous observations?  Look again, and see if that value isn’t worth more than you possibly thought the first time around.

The message in today’s cards is a reminder that traditions and “old ways” of doing things hold value. We’re always so eager to move on to the “new and better” that sometimes we lose sight of the value that resides in the old.
