❤️ Self Care Saturday (On a Sunday)

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Self Care Saturday Tarot Reading with the Fairy Lights Tarot and Time Lenormand Arcanums

EarthTen of Wands Rx – Overwhelm is trying to sneak up on you. You may be feeling like you can’t put your burdens down in order to take time to reassess, but you’re wrong.

AirThree of Cups – Communication with your friends and loved ones is key this week. Focus on being open and engaging, and on enjoying your time spent with others instead of taking it for granted.

WaterJustice – As you move through this week, instead of reacting without thought, take a moment to look at what is triggering your emotions, and consider the healthiest and most effective way to deal with those triggers.

FireTwo of Swords – Before making decisions (or taking action), pause to look over all your options. It’s easy, when triggered or otherwise sparked by an internal flame, to just bound forward without thought. Remember to pause and take a good look around first, instead of jumping in head first.

WaningBear and Mountain – Sometimes one’s protective instincts and defense mechanisms create more problems than they do protection. Take care that you’re not allowing your defense mechanisms run the show.

WaxingFish and Anchor – Being a bit miserly this week will serve you well.

Take Away – Water and Fire in this reading, along with the Waning position, are echoing off of each other this week, creating a reminder that it can be extremely difficult to not immediately react when we’re triggered.  These two positions play off of each other, speaking of the potential for some seriously triggering emotions to rise to the surface, and cause you to want to react without thought of repercussions or what better reactions might be an option for you.

Aside from this, be aware of the overwhelm that’s coming and start setting down what you can in order to head it off, rather than holding on as hard as you can to try and “ride it out”.   This especially includes any financial obligations that are not absolutely necessary.

Lean into those you enjoy spending time with to help you through the hard parts.

Self Care Saturday Tarot Reading with the Fool's Mountain Tarot and The Cat Oracle

EarthNine of Cups – Be happy that you’re feeling better and take some time to really enjoy that fact instead of just passing it by too prioritize the busy work that’s waiting for you. Savor the ability to feel the contrast between sickness and health for the short amount of time before the memory of just how sick you were starts to fade.

AirThe Hermit Rx – Watch out for tendencies towards unhealthy alone time as you begin to slip back into your routines. Indulging in these unhealthy alone times will allow negative narratives a chance to rise up and get a stronger foot hold than they otherwise would.

WaterThe Moon – When uncertainty tries to take over, make sure that you are going with the flow. Don’t try to take charge.

FireThree of Cups – Instead of allowing yourself to wallow in unhealthy alone time (as mentioned above), seek out others you enjoy spending time with when those urges begin to rise up.

WaningDream and End – It’s time to start moving instead of daydreaming about closing down your business. You know you’re not gonna do it, and although it was a nice daydream for a while, it’s time to return to reality.

WaxingQuest and Struggle – Take time this week to look at where there are obstacles and hurdles in your way, and begin the process of plotting a course that will get you through to the other side as advantageously as possible.

Take Away –  Lean into movement this week, but not just in the movement of returning to work. Take joy and pleasure in feeling better and allow yourself some time to celebrate that with activities that bring home that you’re feeling well once more.   Alone time is not your friend this week, as it could easily slide into unhealthy alone time if you let it.  Reach for friends and loved ones to help keep you from indulging in those unhealthy

📆 Transitioning from December to January

Month End Check In Tarot Reading with The Herbal Tarot

Here and Now I Exist – Who you are now, in your entirety.

The Star / Skullcap – Hopeful. In so many aspects of your life at this time, you harbor hope for better things to come. Better health. Better balance. Better stability. A greater sense of calm and connection. These are all things you are hoping for in the months ahead, and those hopes are currently riding at the surface due to the transition into not just a new month but also a new year.

The Slough – What is to be left in the past as you move forward.

Three of Swords / Pleurisy Root – Expel disappointments instead of holding onto them. It isn’t enough to wait them out and hope that things will change on their own. Be proactive in rejecting the rot of depression that disappointment can cause if left untended by giving yourself the attention and care you need during these times.

What Lies Ahead – An ideal state or ideal self you are seeking at this time.

Four of Swords / Mullein – You’re sick and need time to rest and recover. This requires recuperative rest that will allow you to grow strong again. Breathe deep (do your breathing exercises to ensure that fluid doesn’t build up in your lungs) and get the rest you need. Don’t rush it.

Limitations – Negative influences, opposition, or ill will.

The Fool / Ginseng – Make sure as you feel better that you follow the upswing in energy. Don’t linger to wallow in the stillness of leisure because it’s comfortable. This isn’t about rushing, but it is about returning back to hale and healthy on the right foot.

The Boon – Positive influences, higher guidance, or divine intervention.

Strength / Cayenne atop Six of Wands / Hawthorn – Movement is important. It sparks circulation, and when the blood is pumping the body is more open to motivation and movement. Small steps are fine. Don’t let the expectations of others push you to hurry. Just keep moving at your own pace.

The Wound – An unpleasant past experience or event that is ripe for some support and healing.

Temperance / Echinacea – The words people say in anger or while inebriated are not lies. They are unvarnished moments of truth. Those things wouldn’t be said in these uninhibited moments if they didn’t live somewhere in their mind during inhibited ones. Neither alcohol nor anger creates what isn’t already there, it just makes it easier to say those hidden thoughts aloud.

Trust in the truth being shown to you.

Nostalgia – A positive past experience or event to acknowledge, reflect upon, and enjoy.

Queen of Swords / Lady’s Slipper – The truth will set you free. All you have to do is listen and accept.

A Warning – Something coming that can be prevented or overcome.

Two of Cups / Uva Ursi – Watch out for what (or who) might become a disruption otherwise harmonious relationships. Outside influences causing problems need to be gently dealt with. Take care to move on these things with caution and care, instead of your normal “off with their heads” aggression.

Empowerment – A future opportunity to work toward.

King of Pentacles / Alfalfa – Stability requires balance, just like your digestive system. That means stability isn’t about stagnancy, but about building strength through movement. Don’t hunker down and brace for the storm, instead build your agility by facing storms head on and adjusting your stance to stay strong.

Message from the Spirit World – Work with us (spirits and ancestors) and let us lead a bit more in your life, and you will reap the benefits of a greater sense of stability. Not all stability is the result of tight-fisted control.

Message from the Mind’s World – You’ll recover more quickly from moments of disappointment if you continue to focus on your practices in positivity and optimism, and allow yourself time to process your disappointments instead of expecting yourself to be impervious.

Message from the Physical World – Start activity again after your illness with a lean towards enjoyment and a shrewd eye on making sure you’re not going too far or doing too much.

Take Away – There’s lots of stress here on ensuring that you keep moving, even in small ways, both in those things you want to thrive as well as your body as a whole.  It’s time for rest and recovery followed by a slow start back to healthy and hale.  Don’t push, just don’t linger in one place either.

Watch for the revelation of hidden truths.  Don’t disregard them, as people are going to be showing their true colors  around you and you need to pay attention. This doesn’t mean acting rashly on anything learned, just pay attention and gather information. This knowledge could help you out later in putting things in perspective and making priorities.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Self Care Saturday Tarot Reading with the Hush Tarot and Roots & Wings Pocket Oracle

EarthFive of Cups – Negative mindsets have the potential to bleed into your hard won stability this week if you let it. You’re sick, and that can make it hard to be upbeat, but remember, it could always be worse.  Instead of wallowing in misery, work at breaking free to count some blessings along the way.

AirThe Wheel – Be aware of the thoughts that are cycling around in your head, and if they aren’t healthy? Disrupt the cycle instead of letting them continue to go round and round. It can be just a momentary thing.  A glimpse out the window to enjoy the view, a momentary nuzzle with your partner.  Anything to provide a lift, even a small lift, will do.

WaterThe Hierophant – Lean back into tried and true ways to support yourself emotionally this week. No need to reinvent the wheel or think outside the box. Take it easy and fall back on what you know works. The key her isn’t inventive change, but actually using the tools and methods you know will help keep you afloat.

FireThree of Cups – You’re not alone. Others are sick right alongside you, so let yourself enjoy the lack of pressure to perform. No one is expecting anything from you right now other than to rest and feel better, just as they are trying to do as well.

WaningStorm and The Voice – Any impulsive words spoken right now are only going to make things worse. Make sure to keep that negativity you’re feeling from spilling out onto others.  They’re miserable too, after all.

WaxingIntuition and The Void – Trust your intuition when dealing the uncertainty and the unknown. Your intuition never leads you wrong, so don’t doubt when it speaks, just allow it to lead.

Take Away – Take care of yourself this week and let others deal with taking care of themselves.  This week is about taking a break, and you getting sick?  It’s just forcing your hand in this area so that you can’t overburden yourself even if your self-destructive tendencies are feeling the urge to try. Do what you need to do to get the rest and recuperation you need, and take care not to take your misery out on others.

EarthThe Emperor Rx – Release control. Remember that over this Christmas week you are just along for the ride. Don’t try and control anything, don’t try and be in charge, don’t try and step in. Just sit back and enjoy.

AirStrength – Be the strong silent type. Keep your opinions to yourself, and instead use this time to observe others. You may discover something useful for later on down the line if you do.

WaterSeven of Bells – Remember that nagging is not considered taking charge. Sometimes it’s just reiterating the same thing again and again to make sure that it gets through the thick skull of whoever it is that you’re nagging at. Nagging with your emotions attached will work even better.

FireAce of Bells Rx – Again, this is a time to sit back and relax. This week is not the time to jump on new opportunities. If they are meant to be, they’ll keep until after the new year.

WaningMountain and Bear – Don’t worry about taking on obstacles or protecting yourself from setbacks this week. The week of Christmas is a lull, not just for you but for everyone. Set your worries aside for the time being.

WaxingScythe and Man – You reap what you sow.  Make sure that you are paying attention to the words and energy that you put out there over the week ahead, because it will directly influence the type of energy and treatment you receive back in turn.

Take Away – Pay attention to the words you say and what spurs your actions. Sit back and relax instead of diving into the fray, and listen far more than you speak.  There’s a lot of reminders here that you’re not supposed to be taking control right now, no matter how tempting it might be.  Let it go. You can deal with whatever it is later on.

Self Care Saturday Tarot Reading with the Yuletide Tarot and Vintage Yuletide Lenormand

EarthKing of Candles (Wands) Rx – It’s time to take stock of what you are putting your energy into and if it’s really what you want to be putting your energy into. Consider where would it be better to sit back and watch, rather than participating let alone taking the lead.

AirFive of Candles (Wands) Rx – Take care not to allow yourself to be drawn into conflict this week. It won’t end well for you if you do. This is one time when it’s better to walk away and deal with it later than to engage now just to “get it over with”.

WaterFive of Good Cheer (Cups) Rx – Really lean into your positivity and optimism exercises this week. You need the extra uplift to help keep your pessimism from dipping into dark places and dragging you along for the ride.

FireQueen of Candles (Wands) – Enthusiasm is an important part of making it through the holiday season with health and good cheer intact this year. Look for those things that you can enjoy, and encourage others to do the same.

WaningFish and Ship – The less amount of travel you do this week, the better. It could be costly for you if you’re not careful to keep excursions to the minimum.

WaxingWhip and Paths – Practice a little more discipline this week to keep you from being distracted by flights of fancy and overfilling your plate with the opportunities on offer.

Take Away – Make sure that the enthusiasms you decide to participate in this week in order to keep your spirits high are things that still move you in the direction that you want to head as you get closer to the new year and what lies beyond. Choosing to travel during the flooding that’s going on could be more costly than you realize. If and when staying home as an option, do that instead of taking the risk.
