Little Things and Pocket Change

Today’s meditation was a fifteen minute long self-guided visualization session while listening to JW LoFi’s Fog track.

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Ancestral Path Tarot's Sun card and a card from the Rethink 120 Learning Cards for Mindful Living

Today’s draw is The Sun card, which is traditionally a representation of success, optimism, positivity, fun and frivolity. In my practice, the Sun is also a symbol of masculine vitality, virility, and warmth.

The Sun card has then been combined with a Mindfulness Practices card from the Rethink 120 Learning Cards For Mindful Daily Life, which says, “Mindful Tea Ceremony: Mindfully brew, a cup of tea. Pay attention to the process of boiling the water, selecting the tea leaves, and steeping them. Sit down and savor each sip, noticing the aroma, flavors, and warmth. Engage your senses fully and embrace the moment of relaxation and nourishment. The goal is to create a ritual of presence and self-care, finding tranquility in the simple act of drinking tea.”

Not all goodness in life comes from career, success, or monetary rewards. Sometimes just spending time with another can create a sense of well-being, as can making a cup of tea.

The key in life’s celebrations and positive moments doesn’t lie in the accolades of others or the garnering of material goods. Instead, it lies in the mindfulness to acknowledge the good stuff… even the little stuff that’s good. In doing so you choose to brighten your day one nibble-sized piece at a time.

The message in today’s Sun card and Mindfulness Practice card is a reminder that like pocket change tossed in a jar, all the little good things begin to add up over time. As they do so, they change your perception of each day that passes into something a little brighter and lighter than before. These cards encourage us to take the time to be mindful of those small good things in our life instead of letting them pass us by unnoticed or ignored.

Oracle Reading with the Life Design Cards

A choice that feels aligned with the person I want to be

Seek your inner wisdom

I don’t want to be someone who looks to others for validation, but neither do I want to be unfeeling to their opinions and perspectives.

Instead, I wish to tap into my intuition, inner moral compass, and gut instincts and allow them to have priority. Yet, at the same time, still listen to what others have to say with an open mind so that I see and understand their perspectives on the situation.

I want to know who I am, and be unshakable in that authenticity to the point where considering others perspectives, opinions, and ideas doesn’t change that sense of comfortable security, but broadens my horizons and understanding of the world around me and the people therein.

A relationship I want to nurture more intentionally

Make a plan and take action

I want to tap into the inspiration and motivation that creates action with a flavor of curiosity and interest, rather than approaching creativity with a feeling of reluctance and dissent.

Often it feels like I’m stuck in the mire of slow movement and stagnancy to the point where it sometimes seems like I’m not getting anywhere or doing anything at all. It’s hard to be mindful of one’s accomplishment during this time when it feels like nothing is getting done.

Writing down the things that I am doing helps to shut down that inner voice telling me that I’m doing nothing, but it does not inspire me with motivation and get me off my ass to change things up and do more. As a result, I would like to find a way to more deeply nurture my relationship with motivation, inspiration, and curiosity.

How can I bring intention to my daily routines?

Tarot Reading with the Ancestral Path Tarot

Reading Summary: Don’t be tempted to run off with “a bunch of trinkets” you haven’t earned and that hold little meaning for you (The Devil atop Seven of Swords). That path only leads to more uncertainty (The Moon). Instead, seek out the things that make you truly happy (Nine of Cups), and share those things with others (Three of Cups).

Take Away: Hoarding things that hold very little sentimental value or meaning for you can easily take up a great deal of your time and attention if you let it. It’s important to remember that if something doesn’t bring you joy then there’s no point in having it. Nor is there much point in having it if all you’re going to do is stare at it and not share it with others or otherwise enjoy it.

The key to a greater sense of purpose and intention in your daily routines is to fill these routines with substance and meaning. If you’re just collecting stuff to do just for the sake of having stuff to do, but that stuff has no meaning to it, then of course there will be less intention within these routines. It is better to have less to do and more meaning, than it is to have more to do but less meaning.

It Takes a Village

Londa Tarot - The Empress

Today’s draw is The Empress card, which is traditionally a representation of a nurturing energy of strength and empowerment without losing that “softer side” in the process, abundance, fertility, the divine feminine, and Mother Earth.

The Empress card has then been combined with a Breathing Techniques card from the Rethink 120 Learning Cards For Mindful Daily Life deck, which says, “Synchronized breathing. Find a partner. Inhale as your partner, exhale, and exhale as your partner inhales. Maintain a smooth rhythm.”

You know that saying about how it takes a village to raise a child? I feel like the same can also be said for taking care of oneself.

It’s not that you can’t raise a child on your own, just like you’re more than capable of taking care of yourself on your own. But, the experience is more enriching and holds a great deal more value when you involve other people in it.

In child rearing, this has to do with the diversity of beliefs, thoughts, emotions, and values that the child gets to experience. In self-care, it has to do with the perspectives and emotions others bring to the table, for they can often see the self-care you are neglecting to provide yourself more easily than you can. Not only that, but sometimes when we neglect ourselves as a form of punishment, it is the caring of others that can pull us out of that unhealthy cycle.

The message in today’s Empress card and accompanying Breathing Techniques card encourages us to invite others into our self-care practices so that we can reap the rewards of having others involved in the process.

Tarot Reading with the Honey Knight Tarot and Wisdom of Elves and Fairies Oracle

A hobby or interest I want to make more time for

Seven of Pentacles and The Infinite

Stargazing. Cloud gazing. Forest canopy gazing.

These are the types of activities where you are given the opportunity to allow time to stretch out. In these solitary moments you feel a deeper connection to the earth and the universe, while at the same time are able to bathe in moments of timelessness.

Something that sparks my creativity or imagination

Two of Wands and Mystery

You enjoy the process of planning. The planning stage is often that stage in things where you know very little and there’s much to imagine and be curious about. This curiosity in particular has the power spark to life your creativity and imagination, and is a massive part of why planning is so much fun for you.

: What can I do to help my inner child feel seen and heard?

Tarot Reading with the Londa Tarot

Reading Summary: Don’t allow the opinions of others to hold you back or caused you to feel defeated (Ten of Swords atop Six of Wands). Instead, focus on what genuinely catches your interest (Page of Pentacles) and sparks your inner fire (Ace of Wands).

Take Away: It’s the opinions and expectations of others that put your inner child in a space of neglect in the first place. Your childhood was structured to close your inner child off, as you were taught that whimsy and fun weren’t an acceptable use of your time and energy.

For your inner child to feel seen and heard, therefore, you need to be able to prioritize your inner child’s voice above the voices and opinions of those around you. This means allowing yourself to do the things that spark your curiosity and imagination, stir up your curiosity, and that you find fun… instead of always prioritizing other’s values and judgements above these things.

Celebrating Qualities Shared

Today’s meditation was a ten minute #DailyTrip session from the @Calm app.

Tarot of Her - King of Swords, Sage of Leaves

Today’s draw is the King of Swords (Sage of Leaves), which is traditionally a representation of a projective “alpha” energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s thoughts, intellect, education, ambitions, and communication. This often translates into themes that have to do with someone that has a way with words and is able to use those skills to lead others to their way of thinking, as well as those that are in authority on intellectual topics such as professors, doctors, etc.

The Sage of Leaves has then been combined with a Gratitude and Appreciation card from the Rethink 120 Learning Cards For Mindful Daily Life deck, which says, “Reflect on the blessings in your life and name three things that bring you joy and gratitude in this moment.”

I am Organized – it may not always look like it when I am in the middle of a creative endeavor, or even sometimes when you walk into my house, but I am highly organized; and, in being this way, it makes life easier for me in the day-to-day. I find a pure sense of joy and satisfaction when things are organized and put away as they should be.

I have Agency – I have the ability to walk away from what isn’t right for me. I can choose what I decide to participate in and what I don’t. In having the ability to make these decisions, I’m given the opportunity to mold and curate my life and experiences as I see fit.

I take Ownership – When I make a mistake or I am wrong about something, I have no problem admitting to this. I see these moments as an opportunity to learn something new, rather than an embarrassment or something to be ashamed of. After all, no one knows everything. Our entire lives are a learning journey.

The message in today’s Sage of Leaves and affirmation card ask us to look at the qualities of the King of Swords, and acknowledge what qualities we share with this card that we are grateful to have as a part of who we are.

Consider… which qualities do you share with the King of Swords that bring you joy and happiness?

Tarot Reading with the Tarot of Her and Seelengarten Orakel

Something I want to enjoy before summer comes to an end

The Lovers and Holla – You want to find a rhythm and routine that actually works for you.

Too often you feel overwhelmed and like you’re running around never quite catching up. You would like to find a rhythm that allows you to feel in sync instead of always feeling as if you’re falling behind.

A summer moment I want to remember for a long time

Monarch of Stems and Violette Flamme – You have been connecting more easily with your emotions this summer.

This includes during the drop and the activities that lead up to it, which (most recently) felt a bit like burning away cobwebs of disuse to reinvigorate a part of yourself that you didn’t even realize was feeling lost and neglected.
