Another day
ends
as we stretch
lazy and content
together
lounge chair
creaking
on old balcony
as our faces
turn toward
setting sun
and the chill
of autumn
kisses our skin
Bruised and battered
I stretch toward you
and seek out
your touch
not to heal
the black and blue
but to nourish
the soul
so that I may grow
and change
dazzle
and eventually
rest
in your arms
As cold creeps
across the land
and slips among
the trees
I wait
with bated breath
for the first
fall of flakes
to coat the world
in a moment
of pristine white
and allow us all
to see
winter’s beauty
on display
Remember
the other side
to winter
when
the blossoms
are bright
and the
sweet new buds
of green
dot along
nature’s edges
as the sun breathes
life and warmth
back into
the cold places
I wander
through the woods
and the towering
trees
peer down at me
with falling leaves
that litter my hair
and as I move
from tree to tree
upon the trail
there is a
not so silent
stalker
that follows along
from
branch to branch
The sun sets
red and angry
setting the world
ablaze as
land burns
in the east
to tinge fresh air
with the scents
of smoke
and
as the sun
sinks
we all
pray for rain
