They pile in
one on one on one
until we are all
stepping on
each others toes
as we walk
shoulder to shoulder
on crowded streets
with conveyances
bumper to bumper
beside us
day in
and day out
with no room
left
to breathe

Taking a Moment
The shed roof
is soft with moss
and damp
with winter rain
so that when
you sit upon it
you are soon
cold and
soaked thru
to the skin
yet who can resist
a moment or two
settled in peace
with a view
like this
to help you breathe

Like down feathers
little crystals
build to fluff
soft and light
the delicate weight
settles
and turns
the world
pristine
for a short breath
until life
moves on
once again
with the dawn
of a new day

Dark creeps in
to create
hiding spaces
as gilded clouds
slide by
and the city
shifts from
wakeful bustle
to a whisper
of quiet
on the wind
as lazy hours
of dusk
make nap time
seem inescapable

in the snow
with you by my side
and we’ll romp
and roll
in tangled limbs
as the time flies by
please kiss me then
for a while
until the world
falls away
and you heat
my blood from within
and I feel
I can thaw the world
with just
one more touch

Moisture collects
bit by bit
as it builds
to larger drops
that drip
one by one
to earth
and grow
as they
join together
into puddles
and streams
until in time
the ocean
is made of
teardrops
from above
