Gideon’s Challenge

IMG_1916A Bit More

How is it
that the thaw
happened
while my eyes
were closed
in a slow blink
and now
dried husks
begin to green
as spring
whispers
on the breeze
and every day
brings just
a bit more
rain

IMG_2292Taking Time

Dreamy moments
slip by
on lazy days
like the
delicate fluff
of clouds
and as time
stands still
it is all I can do
to not let
my eyes close
and just
feel
the breeze
as it sifts
through my hair

IMG_1988King Tides

The tides came
higher and higher
slipping
wave by wave
further
upon the land
and salt water
washed away
the nutrients
in the soil
to leave
the land salted
in its wake
when the ocean
called its water
back home

IMG_2218Inner Glow

You make me feel
radiant
as if the sun
has burst within
my chest
and I glow
with a dazzling
light
that catches
the eye
and enchants you
so completely
that you are
unable
to look at anyone
other than me

IMG_2271My Favorite

Itty bitty rain drops
coat the skin
like morning mist
kissing the senses
with cold lips
and a chill
that lingers
as everything
is saturated
in moments
and the drip drip drip
of moisture
is not the sound
of clouds crying
but of the world
being rinsed clean

IMG_1897Spring’s Awakening

Renewed life
shows
signs of
slipping free
of protective shells
as buds
and tender bits
peak out
at the world
eager to greet
the sun
and stretch tall
in the wake
of winter’s
bitter chill
