Gideon’s Challenge

Photo-Oct-02-2023,-5-14-24-PMThe Peninsula

I want to go back
to the sea
where sand slips
between toes
and seagulls
scream
and when
you cross the road
the forest
swallows you whole
with moss dripping
from branches
and fern fronds
sway to and fro

BouquetThe Frustration

All I want
is to sleep some more
I wake up
and get moving
and then
my energy’s dead
it seems I’m better
until I get going
and then I can’t breathe
and my insides
are wobbling
and I’m frustrated now
so much to do
but another nap’s needed
yet again, nothing new.

This is the season
I love the most
with spooky decor
and lots of ghosts
and I get to
dress up
the house and yard
with spooky things
for kids to walk by
when they come
on by
on halloween night
when they
Trick or Treat

The Oval

So beautiful
blue like the sky
the little put put
goes driving by
with tiny taillights
and big round eyes
and sweet oval window
and a whole lot of shine
After years and years
I still can’t deny
I’m a bug lover
at heart
It’s just
so damned fly.

The Recovery

I can see the light
at the end of the tunnel
fuzzy
and indistinct
as energy returns
in fragmented pieces
a little
at a time
to be frittered away
too quickly
and sleep is needed
once more
to recharge
and try again

Green Dreams

I want to be
where the
wild things are
and trees stand tall
against the sky
and there are
no streets
only rivers that flow
and the wind whispers
through leaves
with a sigh
with forest floor
spongy with moss
under bare feet
and bare back
while the sweet scent
of cedar
fills the senses
while I take
a short little nap
