Gideon’s Challenge – Cornfields are Creepy

Cornfields are CreepyCornfields are Creepy

Whether
too many
horror flicks
or just some
internal instinct
there’s something
about cornfields
that is creepy
and weird
disorienting
and terrifying
all at the same time
once the corn
has reached
great heights

Gideon’s Challenge – Scorch Marks

Apricot RosesScorch Marks

Anger
turns everything
ugly
from moments
to murmured words
from days
to faces
the emotion
singes the edges
of everything
creating
scorch marks
like blemishes
that turn
into scars

Gideon’s Challenge – Summer Skies

Summer SkiesSummer Skies

Blue skies
are boring
but proof exists
that summer skies
aren’t always blue
and as clouds
wander by
they seem
to stretch out
beyond our ken
and go on
forever
as they conspire
to take
your breath away

Gideon’s Challenge – Anxiety Attack

Deception Pass BridgeAnxiety Attack

Tangled up
in need
and overwhelm
as too many
things
come together
at once
and leave me
unable
to catch
my breath
as tears fall
like rain

Gideon’s Challenge – Shallow Moments

Chinese HibiscusShallow Moments

Back and forth
and back again
we go
and go
and go
from one task
to another
without a moment
to spare
until all I want
is to pause
just
for a second
to close my eyes
and breathe

Gideon’s Challenge – Margit

Happy RockMargit

Again and again
scenes are
murmured
in my ear
of cruelty
via selfishness
in one
given so many
opportunities
to learn
to change
and I have never
been so happy
to listen
as she dies
in the end…

Although I really think she should’ve been eaten by the zombies.
Slowly.
