Air pulls
in and out
without
hacking coughs
or persistent
tickles
The sweats
nor chills
come to call
and life
begins to return
to normal
on the horizon
just ahead
Let’s burrow
under the leaves
and hide
from the day
and the noise
Find a soft spot
to curl up
and warm
to comfortable
Sleep away
the hours
until the sun sets
and we can then
return to bed
once more
A shimmering
moment of hope
as the descent
seems to slow
much sooner
than the others
as food
stays down
and lungs
fill
without coughing
and I hope
tomorrow
is better
