Blue skies
of a different sort
layered
upon gray
and tufts of white
over blue mountains
and the awakening
green
of a new spring
rain is coming
and the trees reach
straining tall
in search of
refreshing drops
Bright green leaves
unfurl
as blades of grass
reach skyward
towards shining sun
and brightening sky
as what was once
gold and brown
begins to fill
with color
once more.
Flying pigs
and running rabbits
fish chasing fish
and little trumpets
on the grass
we make up stories
as we stare
at blue expanse
dotted
with the characters
of the stories
we tell
Bright yellow greetings spot the green with open invitations to lie down among the blades and listen to the whispers of gossiping flowers before winds of change lift delicate eager tufts to float away
