Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Everyday Witch Tarot - Seven of Pentacles and a card from the Pass Around the Smile Guided Affirmation Cards

Today’s draw is the Seven of Pentacles, which is traditionally a representation of slow growth, sustainability, domestic harmony, hard work, and practicing patience while the fruits of your labors develop and take form.

The Seven of Pentacles has then been combined with the Release card from the Pass Around the Smile Guided Affirmation Cards, which says, “ I am able to release the feelings and situations that are holding me back. I am not attached to them.”

This is part of the reason that growth often takes more time than we are expecting it to take. That release of the things in the past that hold us back is a form of healing that takes time. Thus, growth is slow as a result.

That is why it’s often better to see growth as “it’ll happen in its own time” rather than pushing it. When you push it, you often ignore the healing that needs to take place in order for the growth to be healthy and productive.

The messaging in today’s Seven of Pentacles and affirmation card is a reminder that patience is a quality worth developing. It helps us in our growth, as well as in our healing of past experiences and the wounds that are left behind by them. Being impatient with these wounds only makes them linger and sometimes even fester into something worse.

The Unlived Life Tarot Reading with the Epoche Tarot

A version of myself I never became

Four of Swords Rx – The lazy person I was predicted to become by my father. Alone and lackadaisical. Cut off from others by my choices and preferences. A waste of space.

The story I tell myself about that version

Six of Wands – The story (lie) I tell myself is that I could impress him and gain his favor by not becoming that person. That his acceptance of me and my choices was based upon my performance.

What I grieve about that unlived life

Ace of Swords – It isn’t that unlived life I grieve, but rather that I never got the chance to communicate honestly and openly with my father. I grieve the chances I wasn’t given to connect with him, learn from him, and see eye to eye with him.

What aspects of that unlived life can still be lived now

Page of Pentacles – I am learning how to let go of those judgements thrust upon me and find my own path. One suited to me and stable beneath my feet. One created in the bedrock of who I am rather than who he wanted me to be or expected me to become.

Bird Figurine for Encouraging Hope, Positivity, and Renewal

: What long-term goal feels expansive but also sustainable?

Tarot Reading with the Everyday Witch Tarot

Reading Summary: Rebuilding your concept of stability (Queen of Pentacles) to a place where when struggles arise (Five of Pentacles) they are seen as opportunities for something new and exciting (Two of Wands) instead of end-of-the-road obstacles (Five of Pentacles).

Take Away: You’ve fallen into a habit of catastrophizing things when something goes awry or an obstacle lands in your path. As a result, you seek to return to a better mindset where you can see these obstacles and struggles in a way that benefits you rather than something that destroys your efforts and decimates your goals.

This goal is about not just finding the boon in negative experiences, something you’ve always done but have struggled with lately, but also about reconnecting with a greater sense of flexibility and adaptability. That, in turn, can allow you to capture a greater sense of potential in each step along your journey instead of getting discouraged and letting that discouragement slow you down or hold you back from making the progress you otherwise could have made.

Other elements included in this reading:
Foraged Red Oak Leaf for Fostering Unconditional Love
Calcite for Gently Calming the Mind and Stimulating Insights
Honey Calcite for Optimism and Motivational Boost
Rose Quartz for Gentle Kindness to Self and Others

The Pivot of Anxiety’s Voice

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Questeros Tarot's Five of Pentacles and a card from the Pass Around the Smile Guided Affirmation Cards

Today’s draw is the Five of Pentacles (Orbs), which is traditionally a representation of tests, trials, struggles, and setbacks in the area of one’s finances, resources, health, home, work, or manifestations. This often translates into themes that have to do with scarcity and times in life when one needs to seek out help from others instead of suffering through alone

The Five of Orbs has then been combined with the Sensitivity card from the Pass Around the Smile Guided Affirmation Cards, which says, “ I embrace my feelings of sensitivity and know that I can protect myself from negative energy.”

Reminder! It’s okay to freak out now and then when things aren’t going the way that you think that they should be going. The key here is to make sure that you don’t fall into the negative thought patterns that turn a small or medium sized problem or hiccup into an end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it event.

Being sensitive gives our lives of depth and exposes us to an array of emotions that we avoid otherwise not have the opportunity to explore. In opening yourself up to being sensitive, though, there is also a trap waiting where anxiety can turn things from normal sensitivity into catastrophizing.

It’s such an easy slope to slide down too; suddenly some problem that may be peripheral, or maybe right in the center of things but isn’t particularly catastrophic, becomes the end-all of everything.

The message in today’s Five of Orbs and the Sensitivity card is a reminder to keep an eye on when agitation and anxiety begin to turn the tables for you, and that pivot begins to blow something out of proportion. By being aware of when anxiety begins to introduce negative influences into your emotions, you can help to circumvent these more extreme and chaotic reactions.

Chapter 5 | Entry 2 – Health and Body
Affirmation : “I honor my mental well-being.”
Prompt : Under times of stress we all have certain coping mechanisms. Can you identify what yours are? What can the tarot show you about how helpful those strategies may or may not be to your mental health?”

Coping Mechanism : One of my biggest coping mechanisms during stress is to withdraw into myself and deaden my more vulnerable emotions.

Tarot Activity from The One Card a Day Journal by Maria Sofia Marmanides - Legend of Zelda Tarot - The Hanged Man card

What feelings came up when I pulled this card?

This card came out of the deck reversed, and while I don’t usually use reversal when working with the activities from this book, there are significance in the reversal in this instance.

Amusingly, I felt a sense of betrayal at the appearance of this card. I don’t usually get my favorite card in such a negative context as provided here in this reading. It’s a silly reaction, but then emotions are very rarely logical.

What elements of the card’s meaning resonate with me and this prompt?

The Hanged Man card is about stepping back. It’s about distancing yourself from a situation in order to observe things from a different perspective.

While the defense mechanism mentioned above can absolutely be seen in this light, the fact that it was turned upside down indicates that while I am, in fact, distancing myself from the situation by stepping back emotionally… what’s missing is seeing the extra perspectives that should be picked up with this action.

Instead, with the card reversed, we see that in stepping back I am closing myself off instead of opening up. This means that I end up stuck with only my own perspective to circle around and around in my head and get mixed up with the negativity and anxieties that linger there, instead of seeking out more positive perspectives and outlooks that could be more helpful.

What in the artwork spoke to me?

The Hanged Man’s eyes are closed, at the same time the little furry gremlin on the ground at his head has its eyes wide open in an anxiety-like stare. Neither the Hanged Man’s close eyes nor the gremlins’ open ones seek any outside perspectives. Combined with the appearance of anxiety in the yellow eyes of the gremlin, this speaks of getting lost in one’s own perspectives and opinions, and allowing anxiety to hold sway rather than the seeking of alternate perspectives this card usually represents.

My prompt response and reflections.

The withdrawal and closing off defense mechanism may protect me from outside sources that could hurt my feelings or touch on my vulnerability, but it also closes me off with the most vicious monster of all which is my own mind and the negativity and pessimism that lie there. This negativity and pessimism is always ready to speak up and put a negative cast to anything and everything at the smallest provocation on a good day, let alone on a bad one where my anxiety then swing the door open wide for it to step in and make a mess.

Tarot Reading with the Questeros Tarot - King of Cups, Six of Pentacles, Knight of Swords

Seeds Sown: What seeds for my spiritual health & growth planted in the Spring have flourished and grown strong?

King of Cups – You are connecting with and sharing more with Gideon. He is your “emotion guru”, often helping you to work through and sort out your feelings when they become overwhelming or confusing. Since the spring you have been working to open up more and withdraw less when things get emotional. In doing so, this helps you be less chaotic in your spiritual practices, for there is less stagnancy to work through.

The Chaff: What seeds have not flourished and need to be let go to encourage healthy growth in other areas?

Six of Pentacles Rx – All for one and one for all has not served you well. Remember that it is okay to lend your experience and formidable knowledge to others where able. Help them to grow and thrive through sharing what you have in abundance, instead of keeping your own council.

The Harvest: How can I best prepare now to reap the benefits of a positive and healthy harvest in the Fall?

Knight of Swords – Stay sharp and be ready to swoop in at a moments notice. Take care to think strategically, and not act on impulse.

Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Sigil Arcanum Tarot Spectrum Edition's King of Swords and Pass Around the Smile Guidance Affirmation Cards

Today’s draw is the King of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of a projective “alpha” energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s thoughts, intellect, education, ambitions, and communication. This often translates into themes that have to do with someone that has a way with words and is able to use those skills to lead others to their way of thinking, as well as those that are in authority on intellectual topics such as professors, doctors, etc.

The King of Swords has then been combined with the Perfect Timing card from the Pass Around the Smile Guided Affirmation Cards, which says, “Everything is working out how it’s supposed to. Divine timing is on my side and I am able to relax and have fun while my manifestations materialize.

Manifestation and success are not all about pushing every moment of the journey towards the end result you want. Nor is it about sitting back with a wish and a dream, and expecting that wish to be given to you.

Instead, it comes from strategic planning, and from setting things in motion and then allowing them to move on their own with occasional nudges from you along the way.

The process of manifesting the things you want in your life comes from a series of steps. There is the discovery and dreaming aspect, the want and desire aspect, the strategy aspect of thinking through how to make it happen, and then the physical push to get things started.

Although some goals in manifestation may need more hands-on effort than others, it’s going through this process of steps that you get to a point where you don’t have to meddle with it as much as you otherwise would.

The message in today’s King of Swords and affirmation card is a reminder that the things you want to happen in life don’t happen on their own just because you want them, but neither do you need to sacrifice your happiness and joy to their altar in order to make them come about.

Chapter 4 | Entry 10 – Career and Finance
Affirmation : “I am proud of my accomplishments.”
Prompt : What do you consider to be your greatest career achievement? What insight can the card you draw show you about this moment?

Achievement : For over a decade I built from the ground up and ran a (at times overwhelmingly) thriving creative business where I made and sold my jewelry designs online.

Tarot Activity from The One Card a Day Journal by Maria Sofia Marmanides - Wonderland Tarot - Temperance

What feelings came up when I pulled this card?

The Temperance card and I have a bit of a contemptuous relationship. While temperance and moderation is one of the things I strive to instill more of in my life, at the same time it is also something that I am often very frustrated with and would very much like to throw out a window.

In light of my current situation with my online business, though, this card definitely fits.

What elements of the card’s meaning resonate with me and this prompt?

Even during the years when I was fully invested up to my eyebrows in building this business, it didn’t happen all at once. This is proof that even if you put your everything into something, instant gratification is not always going to be the result. You have to wait and work and build and work and wait some more and work some more. It takes time to create success in something; it takes patience.

What in the artwork spoke to me?

The White Rabbit’s expression and posture make it clear that he’s not particularly thrilled with the viewer as he proffers the watch. Combined with the meaning of the card, it makes it clear that he is telling the viewer off for being impatient while at the same time holding their heart’s desire between the fingers of his other hand.

That heart is chained to the clock, making it clear that to obtain one’s heart’s desire they’re going to have to acknowledge and deal with the patience involved in getting there.

My prompt response and reflections.

Over the past year, my business has been struggling. Between the political atmosphere, trade hurdles, tariff issues, economic strangulation, etc.… my business is taking a extremely hard blow.

Although it hasn’t sent me back to square one, it has definitely knocked down my business’ success more than a few pegs.

The Temperance card is a reminder that it didn’t become a success all at once, and it won’t recover from this blow all at once either. Patience is needed; diligence too. Recovery is possible as long as I’m willing to put in the work (although not so much work that it becomes an obsession) and be patient with how long it takes to get there.

Tarot Reading with the Sigil Arcanum Tarot Spectrum Edition

Seeds Sown: What seeds for my emotional health & growth planted in the Spring have flourished and grown strong?

Page of Swords atop Three of Wands – In the spring you recommitted yourself to delving into and learning more about your emotions and advancing your emotional intelligence.

This has been a long journey for you, filled with uncertainty and distractions along the way. This re-commitment provided you with direction when you were feeling like you were stuck spinning your wheels.

The Chaff: What seeds have not flourished and need to be let go to encourage healthy growth in other areas?

Four of Swords Rx – Efforts towards separating yourself and your emotions from your battles of the previous year have not panned out well.

Instead of sitting with and giving the emotions your time and attention, you tried to run from them. It’s time to let go of that avoidance and allow yourself to feel and thus process your feelings.

The Harvest: How can I best prepare now to reap the benefits of a positive and healthy harvest in the Fall?

Seven of Swords Rx – Dig in your heels. Be stubborn. This story is not about loss or giving up, but about determination and persistence.
