The Stinky Mystery
Who is it that decided
that cats putting their
butt in your face
is a sign of
love and trust?
For every night
her butt is snuggled
into the hollow
of shoulder and cheek
as she nuzzles in
to the blanket with me
and when she farts
in the direction
of my nose?
I need to know who to blame.

veins
of leaves that fall
and lighting
the world

of warmth
during cooling climes

without the soft
froth of green
that covers
log and stone
and sways in
the trees
lush and bright
all year long
and a welcome bed
for sleep
when the day
drags on too long
and you need
to catch some Z’s

Strange colors
eye-catching
but weird
as sky shines bright
and usually gray waters
turn to jewel shades
of turquoise
and aquamarine
In a world
that is usually
muted blues and grays
suddenly
color bursts bright
impossible to look away

Tangled feathers
of lush green
soft and squishy
perfectly… clean?
Nice and soft
lets lie down a bit
and enjoy the scent
of damp earth
and the wet
listen to rustles
in the trees
and let forest
serenade
and put you
at ease

with dewy wet
clinging to our hair
as breath tufts
small clouds

spreads out

from high peak
