washes over
my senses
hot and searing
your gaze
filled with intensity
that digs deep
to touch the soul
and even though
you’ve yet
to touch me with
calloused hands
your heat radiates
and melts me
pacific rain forest

Sitting in eager
anticipation
I seek a moment’s rest
as chaos calms
from the storm
time off is almost here
just one more day
just a drive away
and there’ll be
no more chaos to fear
and I can wallow
in sweet relief
for a fortnight of
warmth and loving care

I want to be
tangled
up in you
with limbs entwined
and hair
a mixture of
dark curls
and lighter ones
on the pillow case
as we try to climb
under
each other’s skin
again

A slow spin
a tumble and turn
a spiral slow
on which to float
and in this sated place
your arms tight
while I’m held close
You cradle me
as senses sing
and I swear that I feel
everything sensitive
beyond belief
and all this
belongs to you

Tangled knots
begin to unfurl
as relief slips in
a little at a time
and as much caution
is given in the moment
hope blooms hot
and bright
in the deep inhales
between breaths
Anger should linger
after mistreatment
and yet
I’m just so happy
it’s over

a handful of tears
drip down my face
