The Light Shifts

I see it now
the light is shining
on dark walls
and slick bottom
and now I know
I’m not alone
it’s just
the angle
of the light
that makes it all
seem so very
desolate
and empty

The Dark Moments

From this height
all is seen
and as chill breeze
nips
it makes me sneeze
but all I can see
is what lies below
as jagged rocks
whisper “hello”
they invite me down
to join them there
and I close my eyes
to take in air
I turn away
from their siren’s call
and then walk home
still hearing
their invitation
to fall

Eagerly
I wait for you
to come to me
and bring to me
that sweet
nurturing light
that brightens
each and every
day
allowing
my heart
to lighten
and my soul
to sing

Delicate sparkles
shimmer
upon the ground
with each shift
of sunlight
that filters down
and it looks
like magic
as the air tastes
crisp
and you watch
as powder
shimmers and shifts

It’s not a name

but a moniker
to wear with pride
for it is only
in being unique
that we are able
to show people
who we really are
rather than
wearing the mask
all the
carbon copies
hide behind
