I think of you
while lying here
back cooled
by concrete
skin shaded
by overhang
and clouds
meandering by
at a slow pace
that makes the world
feel lazy
and languid

Abundance Promised

Blossoms fade
for fruit to bare
as leaves flutter
in summer breezes
and as I lie
on grassy earth
and breathe in
the bounty
of summer’s yield
that tickles my nose
and whispers
in my ear
of the promise
of goodness
yet to come

Emotions
churn like
storm clouds
as lines
of demarcation
are drawn
in the sky
like sand
bisected
while tears fall
like raindrops
as darkness
and light
play tug-of-war
with the soul

Energy so stable
twitches
with disruption
as tattered petals
cling
then fall
and anxiety
shakes loose
all the little pieces
still barely
clinging on
leaving me bare
barren
and raw
exposed
and vulnerable

I want to lie
beneath new fronds
hanging heavy
From low branches
and look up
through the green
to the blue
far above
as I breathe in
scents
of rich earth
and lush green
while birdsong
serenades me to sleep

Grasses wave sweetly
in a breeze so soft
it licks sweat off skin
and sends
strands of hair
dancing
and all I want
all I need
is to slip feet
from within
the confinement
of shoes
and stretch out
in the grass
to watch clouds
