Today’s meditation was skipped.

Monsoon Tarot - The EmperorToday’s draw is the Emperor card, which which is traditionally a representation of leadership, authority, strength, responsibility, and a “for the greater good” mentality.

I have a hard time with the imagery in this card in connection with the Emperor, for what I see here is the Lovers card… and applying the dynamic of the Emperor to the imagery, I feel, casts an ugly light.

Maybe it shouldn’t.  Power, dominance, intensity.  These are all qualities within the Emperor, and absolutely could be expressed here without negative connotations. After all, Gideon also possesses all of these qualities, and they’re hot as hell on him.

I took a nice long nap today after my visit to the hospital to have routine bloodwork taken. I also decided to skip the rest of my cardwork for today.

These Saturday readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and is not meant as a predictive reading… although that, too, happens on occasion.

The question is… What do I need to focus for self-care through the week ahead?

Earth – The World – It’s time to emerge from the quiet cocoon that you’ve rested in recently after the journey through your holiday rush. Getting back into the swing of things and finding your new path forward awaits your attention.

Air – Nine of Fire – Make sure that you are keeping your boundaries in place where your inner narrative is concerned.  Don’t let the biting cold of those harsher judgements slip past your defenses and start to chip away at the progress you’ve made.

Water – Ace of Earth stop King of Water – More time with Gideon is a good thing.  Make sure that you are taking care to rearrange your time so that you are getting the nurturing energy and support you need from spending time with him.

Fire – Death atop Tower – Take little steps towards change so that it doesn’t all fall upon you at once. That shit doesn’t have to come up on you and slap you in the face all at once if you use a little forethought and move in the direction of the change that’s coming a little at a time.

Waning – Paths and House – Don’t sit in indecision and inaction just because the stagnancy feels safe.

Waxing – Cross and Bouquet – Getting unpleasant tasks done and out of the way will be a great boon for you this week.

Tarot of the Hidden Realm - The WorldTarot of the Hidden Realm – Resplendent and spent, she lies among the green  and exhales a sigh of relief as butterflies flutter around her and reminder her of hope and that after she has taken this moment of rest?  She will rise to dance with them, and a new journey will begin. The imagery in this card speaks of relief, hope, and continuation. Just because we come to the end of one journey doesn’t mean it’s the end of everything… it simply means that you need to take a moment to orient yourself, and then lean into hope as you rise again.

Magical Nature Tarot – She dances in joyous celebration, skirt flared as she twirls in a feeling of completion and pleasure. She is there to remind us that endings are not to be mourned, but celebrated.  They mean that we have completed something.  A phase… a journey… it’s not dying but completing, and in that completion we find a touch of sadness yes.  But we need to focus on all the good it offers, the feelings of success and the boon we are being given and will be able to then carry with us into the future with a light step, lighter shoulders, and an even lighter heart.

Jonasa Jaus Tarot 7th Edition – Growing life within the womb is a miracle of womanhood, and the journey is both a beautiful blessing and a heavy burden. There is so much that can go wrong, and so much to take on, so many changes and so much discomfort. And when it’s time… and the birth comes? Well that can hurt too, and yet it too is a blessing beyond compare.  This card speaks of the boon and the bane that comes with growth and rebirth. You can’t have one without the other, but the end is worth the struggle when it comes down to it.

Monsoon Tarot – A figure emerges from a bed of flowers like they are slipping free of a Faerie mound, a nest rests as a crown on their head, eggs nestled within it and others lying among the flowers. This card speaks strongly of rebirth.  The World circles around back to the Fool, and what I see here is the Fool at rest before they wake and begin to move. It is that moment of pause where you acknowledge all you have accomplished and take a breath.  When your eyes open, you will step into the shoes of the Fool once more and an exciting new journey will begin.

Fickle Fingers

Today’s meditation was skipped.

Monsoon TarotToday’s draw is the Wheel of Fortune, which is traditionally a representation of luck (both good and bad), unpredictability, and the fickle finger of fate.

In this card we see a depiction of the Mœræ (three sisters of fate)… with cat heads. And, just like the Mœræ, cats are also extremely fickle, so I find the imagery to be an absolutely perfect representation of that fickle, unpredictable nature that the Wheel of Fortune often represents.

Today’s message is to remember that life and luck are unpredictable.

Just like the Robert Burns quote “The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry” warns, you can’t depend on planning to solve everything. Always be prepared to adapt as needed instead of sticking rigidly to a plan that may no longer work due to aspects beyond your control.

Folktails OracleHope – Work on connecting with optimism, as it allows you to breathe positivity and hope into your life. Without these things, life becomes increasingly dark and it becomes far too easy to fall into the pit of depression.

Tides – There is an ebb and flow to life that you need to work on riding rather than fighting against. Work on going with the flow more. Flexibility and adaptation are your friends.

Spirit – Put some focus into reconnecting with your spirituality. Seek out that connection with your guides, with Amalthea, and with your spiritual path. These things had to take a step back during the holiday tush, and it’s time to bring them back into the fore.

Take Away: You have a habit of wrapping up so much of your creativity into sources of income that the planning for that further step of marketability often goes hand in hand with the growth of a new creative endeavor.
