In Defense of Imagination

Today’s meditation was seven minutes long, and was one of the #DailyTrip sessions from the Calm app. It spoke on the importance of being in the moment, and that when we are meditating, that involves taking each moment one at a time.

In life, it’s important to be present in the now.  Not always looking back or looking forward. By some this is called “stopping to smell the roses” and it allows us to appreciate life and our existence in it.

The meditation today took this a step further, encouraging not just a slow down that allows us to savor the present, but when we meditate, to slow things down even further.  Noting one sensation, then another, then another.  Giving each of them a moment of our undivided attention instead of pushing them away or ignoring them.  To, in this way, use meditation as a way to saturate ourselves in the moment and deepen our appreciate of it.

Card of the Day Tarot Reading with Tarot of the Guiding MuseToday’s draw is the Seven of Wands atop the Page of Cups.

Sometimes we forget that our imagination is important. It’s not just something for little kids to play games with, but an important part of our lives as adults as well. It’s the birthplace of creativity and ingenuity, after all.

Many less imaginative people snark at people with an active imagination, telling them that they need to “grow up” or looking down on them as silly in some manner. They try to quash the imagination in others.

The cards for today are a reminder to not let these people get to you. Don’t allow them to smother your imagination and creativity.  Just because they can’t do it?  Doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. Instead, it means you have a talent that they do not, and it’s something to protect and let shine, not hide away or smother out.

Be Here Now Tarot Reading with the Meraki Tarot

What is keeping me from fully witnessing the present?

Eight of Wands – You’re always in too much of a hurry to be moving forward and progressing. When you’re always in such a rush to keep moving forward, it’s impossible to pause and linger in the present moment.

How am I creating distance between myself and the stillness within?

Page of Wands – You are too busy, and two “scattered” in your interests and passions. With so much going on and so much eagerness to explore so many different faucets and avenues before you, that stillness has nowhere to truly shine, or even fully awaken.

What can help me fully embrace the present moment?

King of Swords atop Two of Swords – It can help you to fully embrace the present moment more by making practical choices and cutting out with brutal precision those things that are weighing you down and keeping you from being more present in the now.

Other elements included in this reading:
Dried Rhododendron Leaf for Fostering Confidence
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

I started working on orders today (a day early) in order to ensure that I’d be able to go north a day earlier than normal this week.

A Greater Depth of Understanding

Today’s meditation was skipped (again).

Meraki Tarot 2nd Edition - The Hanged ManToday’s draw is the Hanged Man, which is traditionally a representation of taking time to look at new perspectives and gather additional data. It’s about taking a pause in order to see things from a different angle, and allowing yourself time to wrap your mind around different viewpoints and opinions, ideas and angles… to see things from a different view in order to find more depth and understanding.

It’s that increased depth and understanding that I see in the imagery of today’s card, with the universe of night in the body of the hanged man, and the sun shining behind his head.

When we pause and open our eyes and mind, we are able to see more. So many people don’t realize that they see the world only through one lens… one perspective. They don’t realize that this view is limited and only seeing a small sliver of the whole picture.  Today’s card encourages us to open up to that reality and strive to see more.  Can we see everything?  No.  But, it can allow us to see beyond our own closed view, and understand in more depth what is going on around us.

Questions for February 21st and 22nd

True Heart Intuitive Tarot - Six of Swords, Ace of Cups, Ace of Swords, Three of CupsWhat opportunity lies ahead that I have yet to explore?

Three of Cups and Ace of Swords – Time hanging out and chatting with friends. Brainstorming made fun. When you share with them, they can offer perspective as well as new ideas that would never even occur to you.

What should be my next step towards personal growth?

Ace of Cups atop Six of Swords – Let go of the idea that you have to be good at everything on the first try.

You are learning and growing, and that process of personal growth comes with a great deal of trial and error, and very little perfection.

Meraki Tarot 2nd Edition - The Hanged Man, Seven of Cups, Queen of CupsHow is your self-love journey going lately?

Page of Cups – It is a work in progress. There’s a lot of ups and downs involved as you navigate, and learn how to deal with your resistance and emotions.

You still have a very long way to go, and need to stay focused on the emotional side of things as you work through those things that are a struggle to do and understand.

How can you improve upon your self-love journey?

Seven of Cups and The Hanged Man –  Stay open to new methods and opportunities to care for yourself.  It doesn’t have to be the same old thing every time, all the time.  Exploring new activities and self-care methods will allow you to have a larger array of tools at your disposal when you need a bit of extra care.

I took multiple naps today.  I can’t say I feel refreshed, but I definitely feel better than I did when first getting up this morning.

Keep Going Anyway

Today’s meditation was just over ten minutes long, and was unguided. Simply me, and some breathing exercises while I did my piriformis stretches.

Meraki Tarot and Thera-Pets Emotional Support Animal CardsToday’s draw is the Death card, which is traditionally a representation of slow, gradual, organic change. This is the kind of change that develops over time, and even when it has a “tipping point” that might take you by surprise, on reflection, you should have seen it coming as it developed.

Although not all change is difficult, for us humans, a lot of it is. We have a tendency to gravitate towards what is familiar and comfortable, latch on to those feelings, and not want to let go. When changes make us confront those tendencies, it can be extremely uncomfortable and even scary.

The Death card combined with the Thera-Pets card for today is a reminder that just because change can (and often is) uncomfortable, it’s also necessary and is often a very good thing.  And that those feelings of fear and discomfort when change comes calling are natural.  Feel them… accept them, just keep going anyway.

Mr Lionharts’ #TheSeptemberTarot Rise and Fall Prompt
Questions for September 28th thru 30th

Zombie Diaries Oracle and L'Œil de L'Âme TarotWhat has been a big lesson for me this month?
Meadow and Ace of Wands

There are things that are more important than the pursuit of every new inspiration and creative idea that catches your attention. Playing it safe and giving yourself some down time is not a sin, nor a punishable offense.

What have I established/realized for myself this month?
Petrified Tree and Ten of Pentacles

It’s okay to take your time. It’s okay to savor what you have right now instead of striving ever forward for more. Things that are meant to happen will develop at their own pace. Reaching your goals naturally takes time, and sometimes you discover even better goals along the way.

Where or in what way did I rise above myself this month?
Hibiscus, Ace of Swords Rx atop Guardian of Cups

Lack of communication can lead quickly to defensiveness and anxieties. You did well in ensuring that you reached out to others when you needed to this week instead of keeping everything locked inside… even during times when the act of reaching out stirred up its own uncertainties.

Questions for September 28th and 29th

Meraki TarotGoal – What needs a little more focus and energy to complete before winter?

The Hermit atop Two of Swords – You need to take this time before the harvest season draws to a close to get out in nature as much as possible. You need this time in the forests, bonding with the earth, to help shore up your strength and energy for the busy winter months to come.

ProsThe Star – By spending this time in nature you can benefit from a greater sense of hope and connectivity with the world around you. This is something that increases your stamina for the gauntlet of the holiday rush on the horizon.

ConsFive of Swords – More time outside means less time inside preparing for battle. Less time spent prepping. And, less stuff finished when the “battle” begins.

ObstaclesEight of Wands – Your impatience is the biggest obstacle you face when it comes to this goal. You need to accept that there’s only so much you’re going to get done, and that you’ll have to pick and choose your battles instead of trying to do everything.

SolutionsThe Empress atop The Hierophant – You’ve been working on learning how to put yourself first and nurture yourself. Don’t forsake those lessons now that it’s crunch time.

I had what I would consider a pretty much ‘did nothing’ day.  I don’t really feel like I accomplished much of anything really other than my cards for the day.

New Moon in Virgo – September 2021

Today is the new moon, and like all new moons and full moons, I did a spread aligned to the moon’s current themes as a part of my recognition of the moon’s cycle and influences upon us. Today’s spread is about  integrating the qualities within, and brought to you by Sharron Basanti of Seeds of Shakti.

Meraki Tarot

1. What do I need to de-clutter that no longer sparks joy?

The Hanged Man atop Seven of Swords – You need to do a culling of your tarot collection. It’s stealing away far too much of your time to find each month’s decks. Of course, with the holiday rush coming, this is going to have to wait a few months, but keep in mind that when you start getting into next year and reorganizing your home for those shelves you want, that you need to do some culling as you go.

2. What habits do I need to start building to be more organized?

Queen of Pentacles – Supporting others that place no value in your support.  There should, at the very least, be a sense of appreciation and respect from those you expend your time and energy to nurture and support.  If you aren’t getting even that much from them in return, you need to pull back.

3. What patterns do I need to break that don’t contribute to my well-being?

Seven of Pentacles – Remember that growth takes time.  Whether this is growth of your emotional self, improvement of your physical health, or the flourishing progress of your business.  Everything takes time.  Take a breath and allow things to move at their own pace instead of pushing for more.

4. How can I harness the energy of the Virgo New Moon to re-align with my purpose?

Seven of Cups – Choose your path wisely.  You have a lot of different options ahead of you, but to stay aligned with your purpose, you need to take some time to look at each option in depth.  Once you  have all the information, making the right choices for you will be much easier.

5. Message from the Ancestors and Guides.

Three of Cups – Lean on others near and dear to your heart for a lift of spirits and emotional support. You may have dodged a bullet with your MDE and temporarily shifting your meds, but you’re not quite out of the woods yet and they can help you stay away from that pit’s edge now that the chemical side of things is better in hand.
