The Veleda Woods Tarot - The Empress

Today’s draw is The Empress card, which is traditionally a representation of a nurturing energy of strength and empowerment without losing that “softer side” in the process, abundance, fertility, the divine feminine, and Mother Earth.

There’s more to protect in life than what you’ve earned. Sometimes it’s about the potential yet to be discovered.

When we look at the future, we often see it through the lens of whatever goals we have set forth for ourselves. In truth, the future is an infinite miasma of opportunities; an abundance of potential and opportunity yet to be discovered. It’s only our narrowed focus that limits us.

With this in mind, priorities are important. The question is whether the goals we’ve set really deserve the priority we give them, or should we be open to something new and completely different than what we’re aiming for?

The message in today’s Empress card and “protection” prompt is a reminder that it’s more important to protect our potential than it is to protect limiting goals and aspirations. Don’t allow yourself to be held back by goals that do not fit anymore or may not fit in the future. Keep an eye open to the potential for something new and different that may fit you even better than the stuff you’re already focused on.

Oracle Reading with the Räucherungen für die Seele

What do I want clarity on, and how do I find it outdoors?

Urvertrauen Entwickeln – It can be hard to trust that things are going to develop on their own in a way you want them to. This trust becomes especially difficult when you abstain from meddling, for without your fingers in the process you worry things will go awry.

What you seek clarity on is in that you seek to develop this trust and release the controlling grip that you often find to be too overwhelming, but often can’t seem to loosen.

Erfolg Zulassen – It can be easier to let go of control when you’re not in control in the first place.

When you’re outdoors and enjoying nature, any of a vast myriad of things can change, happen, or go wrong. Instead of controlling every aspect, you depend on adaptation. This is the key to letting go in other parts of your life and trusting things will still come out okay.

Which boundary may I guard during this season?

Geborgen Sein – Reflect upon those things that help you to feel safe, and ensure that they are “tamper proof” from meddling and manipulations. These things are what help you to feel steady when the world around you feels uncertain.

Tarot Reading with The Veleda Woods Tarot

Reading Summary: Balance (Two of Pentacles) your dread for endings that you feel you’re not ready for (The World Rx) with the opportunities for success that change is offering (The Sun).

Take Away: Its in the new opportunities that change is offering you where you can find excitement in change and embrace it more fully.

Instead of focusing on your feelings of uncertainty and unpreparedness, turn your attention to the opportunities that are opening up for you as changes take place. Transitions are wobbly and unsteady for a reason. All the bricks are a a bit loose and cattywampus so that they can be settled into a new configuration and create a new structure in the process.

This unsteady moment in time gives you the opportunity to use those bricks to build whatever you want.

Zillich Tarot - Five of Cups

Today’s draw is the Five of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of pessimism, regrets, doomsday thinking, disappointments, and occasionally, failure (or at the very least, the perception of failure).

If you’re not happy with how things are going, perhaps it’s time to change your approach.

We have the unique ability to change our lives in a myriad of different ways. Often, just by adapting our perspective or outlook.

I am extremely guilty of lingering in the disappointment depicted in the Five of Cups. My natural tendencies lean toward pessimism and a negative viewpoint that allows me to “look for and find the problem”.

This makes me spectacular at predicting pitfalls in plans and proposing “what if” scenarios during brainstorm activities. It also makes it extremely difficult for me to turn my perspective around into a more positive outlook or optimistic one.

What I have found, though, is that when I take these efforts towards turning my perspective around into these positive and optimistic themes, I enjoy life more and experience less depression. The message in today’s Five of Cups and the “adaptation” prompt is a reminder that the “flavor” of our perceptions and perspectives is up to us.

If we want to have a better life, we need to work at fostering a better outlook within ourselves. In doing so, we allow those more positive perspectives to permeate our experiences. Does this solve all our problems? No. Absolutely not. What it does, though, is allows us to see them through a lens that is far more hopeful and positive, which in turn helps lift us up a bit higher out of the darker corners we sometimes can slip into.

: Which outdoor activity brings me closer to my goals?

Tarot Reading with The Lucky Cat Wisdom Tarot and Studio Ghibli 100 Collectible Postcards Set

Reading Summary: There is a connection between the marigolds in the Anchor Card and the cups in the Four of Cups which speaks directly to the garden that I have growing outside on my balcony and the quiet in peace that I find there. The cups look very much like some of the pots in my balcony, and the marigolds are dead ringer for the ones I have growing among my basil.

The look on the boy’s face as he looks at the fairy in the Anchor Card reflects the same angle of the head and positive emotion as that of the cat in the Four of Cups card, bringing into focus that there is more to the garden than just the plants and soil and pots, but also the creatures that have been invited to live there.

There is a color connection in the gold coin on the Ace of Pentacles and the marigolds in the Anchor Card, along with the cherry blossoms in the Ace of Pentacles and the Iceland poppies in the Anchor Card. These color connections call into focus the new project that I have decided to pursue for next year’s garden and is a reminder that I will want to intersperse flowers and tea herbs as companion plants for the foods that I decide to grow. There it’s no need to entertain thoughts of flowers lost, in other words, for the new idea I am working toward will still include floral and herbal accompaniments.

In the Hanged Man card, we again see the correlation between the cherry blossoms in the card and the Iceland poppies in the Anchor Card. There is also connection between the branch in the Hanged Man card stretching over to join with the branch in the Ace of Pentacles, bringing these two cards together. These connections and correlations are a reminder to pay attention to those companion plant relationships. Take time to do your research. There is a great deal of time between now and then in which two work things out a little at a time. No need to rush.

Take Away: Spend more time in the present nurturing the plants out on your balcony and making the Fae out there happy.

Also, don’t forget to continue to plan for the new garden project coming next spring. You’re being given a lot of time to do research and work on this and get things just how you want them. Don’t waste that time by putting everything off until the last minute. Instead, work at it a little at a time so that you have a plan in place for next spring when it arrives.

Reading Summary: The idea that not all the good things that you want do yourself (The Lovers) require you to do them alone (Four of Cups Rx). Sometimes it’s better together just because you’re together (Ten of Discs).

Take Away: Although your time in the forest hiking is one of those things that you miss doing completely on your own, there are plenty of other things you enjoy doing that would be better with others rather than alone.

Instead of giving people the cold shoulder when you decide to go on one of these excursions or do one of these activities, consider inviting others along to discover how they can contribute to the pleasure that the activity has to offer.

Learning to ask for help isn’t the only time that having others around is good for you. If you need that alone time in the woods? Get it. At the same time, though, make sure you are opening up other areas of your life to the presence of others.

Cryptids Crafting Tarot - Wheel of Fortune

Today’s draw is the Wheel of Fortune (The Winder), which is traditionally a representation of luck (both good and bad), changing circumstances, the ups and downs of life, and the cyclical nature of life and the world.

The Ahool (Ropen) is a giant bat-winged primate sighted on the islands of Java and New Guinea. Normally it lives off the abundant fruits and fauna of the jungle, but when it gets overconfident and territorial, it can be known to attack humans. Know your limits and be grateful for the opportunities that arise for you.”

Not everything can always go as planned, and neither toes everything always go awry. Some days are good, and some days aren’t.

The Wheel of Fortune often represents the balance between the two extremes that life can take on. It can be hard to trust that the good times will last, and sometimes it’s far too easy to believe that the bad times will go on forever. The Wheel of Fortune is our reassurance that everything is temporary, and that we should savor the good while we have it, and have faith when the bad comes calling that it actually won’t last forever.

The message of today’s Wheel of Fortune card and the “growth” prompt is an encouragement to seize the day. One of the biggest things we have to learn in life is that when opportunity is going our way, we need to grab hold and take advantage of it. (Unless it’s something that we’re not really interested in, of course.) Life presents us with these opportunities in order to allow us to jump ahead and grow in the areas that we want to instead of always feeling like we are trudging forward against the current.

Oracle Reading with Our World In Pictures Periodic Table Flash Cards

Which emotion wants to be seen in the sunlight?

Yttrium – Your masking. This isn’t so much about one specific emotion as it is the fact that you are hiding your emotions (plural being stressed here) behind a mask. You reflect back a more positive visage than the one that you truly feel on the inside, and in doing so hide from others your true emotions, when they need to be expressed instead.

Allowing others to see and know that you are masking will encourage those who truly care to dig a little deeper.

What am I learning from the nature around me at the moment?

Actinium – A little bit goes a long way.

Your time in nature may be limited, but just a little bit now and then can help.

You don’t always have to do a full day hike to get the benefits of a little bit of time in nature. Sometimes it can be as small a dose as pausing to appreciate a bit of moss or taking a picture of a leaf. Even the small doses can make a massive difference in your day and how you feel.

Botanica Tarot Full Bloom Edition - King of Swords

Today’s draw is the King of Swords (Camellia), which is traditionally a representation of a projective “alpha” energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s thoughts, intellect, education, ambitions, and communication. This often translates into themes that have to do with someone that has a way with words and is able to use those skills to lead others to their way of thinking, as well as those that are in authority on intellectual topics such as professors, doctors, etc.

Cut out what stands in the way of you fulfilling your ambitions.

Sometimes, when going after our ambitions, we have to view the world around us with a cold kind of clarity that allows us to cut out sentimentality and other obstacles that may get in the way to the end goal.

This kind of cold calculation and determination is often how we get the things done that are really important to us. At the same time, it is also important to remember not to reside within this type of headspace too long, for it can begin to sap away at your humanity and compassion.

The message in today’s King of Swords and the “vision” prompt is a reminder that cold determination has its place and is an excellent tool to get done something that you need or want to achieve. It is not, however, something that is healthy to adopt full-time. Doing so blocks out the “good stuff” that life has to offer, which may hinder you from discovering new goals and ambitions to pursue.

Tarot Activity from The One Card a Day Journal by Maria Sofia Marmanides - Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Tarot - The Lovers card

What feelings came up when I pulled this card?

My first reaction when The Lovers card came out was a sardonic “how apropos” type of dry humor. After all, what other card would be more fitting to this prompt?

I then turned more contemplative.

What elements of the card’s meaning resonate with me and this prompt?

The Lovers card has a couple of different meanings, and since I have a variety of different thoughts and feelings about love, this is pretty accurate in my case.

This card often represents connection, unity, and contractual obligation. It is commitment to another, and it’s sometimes considered the “marriage card” for this reason.

The Lovers card also often has to do with making the choices that are right for you, rather than the ones that are expected of you. This is more of a Marseille tarot interpretation, but I have a tendency to often blend that tradition with regular Rider Waite Smith.

That blend between both traditions is where I personally land in my own feelings concerning love.

What in the artwork spoke to me?

I like how in this card the two figures are back to back. It feels like each is giving the other space to really connect with their heart, represented by the woman holding her flowers to her heart, and hear what their heart has to say prior to making a commitment to be together.

Above, the cupid has his bow drawn, but he has yet to loose his arrow, giving the two figures the space that they need to sort out what their heart desires as well, and if the step they are about to take is going to be a good fit for them.

My prompt response and reflections.

When you blend the Marseille and RWS traditions of tarot, as mentioned above, what you come up with is that the obligations, contracts, unions, and commitments that you decide to commit to in life should be those that fit you personally rather than something you are doing just to fulfill expectation.

We love who we love, regardless of what others expect from us, and sometimes regardless of what we expect from ourselves. Our hearts have a mind of their own. They can’t be reasoned with by our brain, and like all emotions, logic plays no role here. Our hearts encourage us to gravitate towards those things that are a right fit for us, regardless of expectations to the contrary.

Venus conjunct Jupiter: How is abundance, joy, or love expanding in my life?

Page of Pentacles / Daisies – You are learning how to take things slower and appreciate the present more, rather than always rushing towards the next thing that needs to be done. In doing so, you enjoy more of the world around you, and this opens you up to experiencing more joy and abundance in your life.

Mercury square Saturn: What mental pattern is limiting me, and how can I shift it?

King of Pentacles Rx / Oak – Remember that stability is not created through stagnation. Too often, bracing in stillness feels like the stability that you’re looking for. In truth, though, all it’s doing is causing stagnation and knocking things further out of balance. True stability comes from being able to bend and flex with the winds in a storm like a tree and its branches.

Soften: How can I soften my inner critic?

High Priestess / Elderflower – You know the sound of the difference between truth and deception, including when it resides within your own inner voice. You also have a tendency to lean in to self abuse.

When your inner critic comes roaring to the surface, it’s important to pause and remember to seek out truth rather than what is convenient or self-depreciating.

Your familiarity with self-destructive narratives mean that you find it easy to accept negative inner talk without thought or consideration. The High Priestess and elderflower combo reminds you to connect with your inner nurturer and intuition to help you soften those narratives into something that rings true… instead of familiar but damaging.

Balance: What would emotional balance look like today?

King of Swords / Camilla atop Four of Cups / Pitcher Plant – Take care not to get sucked into emotional upheaval. It’s okay if you seem a little cold on the outside today, as it will help you stay balanced on the inside.

: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Two of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of crossroads, difficult decisions, needing more information, seeking inward for answers, weighing one’s options, and sometimes avoidance.

I have an elderly friend in my life that is extremely stubborn. The moment someone looks at her (in her late 70s) and tells her that she can’t do something because of her age or physical condition, etc? She immediately goes into opposition mode and has to prove them wrong. To the point that I’ve personally had to train myself to say “I’d prefer you didn’t do that alone” rather than “you can’t”.

That’s the thing about getting old, yeah? It’s not that the elderly can’t do the things that younger people do, but rather that it costs them a lot more to do them and is far more dangerous due to the risk of brittle bones and easy injuries. Their endurance and resilience has taken a hit, but the determination is still there… especially when their pride or stubbornness is triggered.

The message in today’s Two of Swords and “endurance” prompt is a reminder that just because we can do something doesn’t necessarily mean that you should. It’s important to not let pride and stubbornness push us into doing things that might be better done by others… or at least better served by asking for help.

Today’s draw is the King of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of a projective alpha energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s passions, drive, determination, principles, values, and willpower. The King of Wands often indicates themes that have to do with leadership figures or authority figures with the ability to rally others to their causes and draw them in to their own values, principles, and passions.

Careful how you use the power you wield. Your enthusiasm can be a boon or a detriment, and the only way to make sure that the former (boon) doesn’t transform into the later (detriment) is through mindful awareness of the effects of you words and actions have upon the world around you and those in it.

The message in today’s King of Wands and the “transform” prompt is a reminder that our inspiration and passion can transform the world around us. For that reason, it’s important to make sure we are careful where we allow our passions and inspiration to lead us, as well as those that join us.

Passion isn’t enough. Anyone can be motivated by their passions, and can rally others to their cause with that passion and inspiration. The thing is, though, that passion just isn’t enough to lead well. Lead… yes; but to lead well also requires wisdom.

The message in today’s King of Swords and the “wisdom” prompt is a reminder that leadership is more than just being at the front of the line that everyone else follows behind. It means taking the time to consider how your leadership affects others, and how it can either lift them up or beat them down. Witches Wisdom Tarot - The Shaman - Death card

Today’s draw is the Death (Shaman) card, which is traditionally a representation of gradual organic changes, loss, slow moving transitions, and letting go.

It is up to the living to honor the dead, all that they went through, and all that they did that we will benefit from.

It’s true what they say about history repeating itself once we forget it. The efforts and trials and struggles that our ancestors went through are how we have come to be as evolved and “well off” as we are today, both as people and as a society.

Even if you don’t do ancestry work or have any interest in your personal ancestors, it’s important to honor and acknowledge our societal ancestors as a whole and what they have done for us, the trials they have gone through that brought us to this place, and the life in progress they have helped us to achieve. We are where we are, both the good and the bad, because of the ancestors that came before us, their accomplishments and their failures.

Someday our strength, resilience, good decisions, and bad ones, struggles, efforts, and values will be looked back upon by future generations. We can only hope that those future generations will learn from our struggles and trials and triumphs, just as our own ancestors hoped that we will do the same with theirs.

The message in today’s Death (Shaman) card, and the “resilience” prompt is a reminder that we are meant to learn from the past, and a part of that is in connecting with our ancestors (whether personal or societal) to learn from both their mistakes and their triumphs.

Oracle Reading with The Hidden Castle Oracle

What supports my life energy?

Celebrate – The “good stuff” is what supports your life’s energy. This is not just about the big moments like birthdays or great successes, but about the little things like pretty flowers and raindrops. It’s about waking up in the morning to a soft and snuggly pillow and taking a moment to appreciate just how good that feels. It’s about stepping outside, barefoot and enjoying the shift of temperature beneath your feet.

The “good stuff” is all the tiny good things that you notice and enjoy, just because you like them in that moment. These are the things that help support your life’s energy.

What action am I allowed to take?

Messenger – Don’t forget that you’re allowed to take your time before answering or responding. You are allowed to gather your thoughts and consider what needs to be said rather than just reacting with what comes to your tongue first.

Even when you are being pushed for an answer, that doesn’t mean it has to be given immediately. Take your time and formulate an answer rather than risking misunderstanding by popping off in the moment.

Which ritual can I perform at sunrise?

Grain Store – Eat and hydrate. Take care of your physical body and build up your reserves for the day ahead. Your body needs to fuel and hydration in order to perform at its best, and a couple protein bars with some water is not enough. If you want your energy to sustain you throughout the day ahead, you need to start with a higher quality of fuel first thing in the morning.

What calls for more playfulness in my life?

Vigilance – Consider that when you identify someone who does not have your best interest at heart that they could be fun to play with as long as you don’t fall under their spell.

Think of telemarketers and scammers, for example, and how Miss B enjoys toying with them rather than simply hanging up on them. She gets a great deal of joy from doing this. It’s possible that you could discover a great deal of playful joy from doing something similar with those that don’t have your best interest at heart.
