Integrity and Principles

Today’s meditation was skipped because today’s an order’s day.

Good Karma Tarot and Flower Fortune CardsToday’s draw is the Seven of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of standing up for your principles, beliefs, values, and those things that are important to you.  It is about not caving under pressure or opposition, but standing your ground and standing strong.

You see this theme portrayed in the imagery of the card in the rays of power that radiate around the girl as she stands strong with her staff against a row of others representing her opposition.

Combined with the Flower Fortune cards for today, which says “If you feel you are in the right, stand firmly by your convictions,” what we see in today’s cards is a need to check in with our values, our principles, and our personal truth… especially when we are confronted with opposition.

Just because something is right for someone else doesn’t mean it’s right for you.  Just because something is right for you doesn’t mean it’s right for them either.  Stand by what is right for you, because to yield in these moments is to devalue yourself, your truth, and it can damage your inner integrity.

Question
: How can I foster more clarity in my life at this time?

Rainbow Unicorn TarotReading Summary: Let go of the assumption that you are anywhere near reaching your peak (Queen of Wands). You still have more things to conquer (Five of Swords), and a good deal more to still learn and explore (Page of Wands).

Take Away:  I’m good at a lot of things, mostly because I’m enthusiastic about the stuff that catches my interest and it will continue to hold my interest as a grow and flourish in the learning process.  Sometimes, this means that I reach a plateau or a peak, and feel like there’s nothing more to learn.  This can make me feel stuck and uninspired, eating away at my enthusiasm.

The cards here are telling me that the clarity I need to grasp is in the fact that in my current pursuits I am far from that plateau or peak.  I might be feeling a bit uninspired at the moment, but there’s still plenty to dive in when I’m feeling inspiration return.

Parting’s Sweet Sorrow Is A Lesson

Today’s meditation was skipped because I dozed off.  I was so damned tired and when I settled in to meditate, as soon as I closed my eyes, that was it.  I was out like a light.

Cosmic Cycles Tarot and Flower Fortune CardsToday’s draw is the Eight of Cups, which is a representation of moving on, abandonment, looking for something new, escapism, and withdrawing from a situation especially due to disappointment or frustration.

Here in the imagery of today’s card we see a clear demonstration that when you move on to something new, you have to leave something else behind in the process.  And that sometimes? That’s not always a good thing for everyone involved.

The Flower Fortune card for today tells us that “There are no mistakes, there is only experience,” and that is especially true when there is a parting of ways.  We learn from the things that don’t work out.  We grow from the experiences, even if those experiences end in a parting that isn’t exactly amicable.

This echoes how I feel about negative experiences as a whole (and that includes the Ten of Swords). Bad experiences help us grow.  It’s unpleasant, and it hurts… but it is the fertilizer to our growth and becoming better human beings.  We make choices… sometimes those choices don’t work out.  And we then learn not just from the fact they didn’t work out, but also from the fallout that happens as a result.

Question
: Think of something you want {to manifest} right now or in the nearby future and draw a card.
Want: I want my damned mortgage paid off.

Good Karma TarotFour of Cups – Stop daydreaming about it and actually do something. If this is a goal you truly want to accomplish, you need to start paying closer attention to what’s going on instead of having your head in the clouds.

There are options available to you and things you can do right now just set you back on this path. Yes, there were setbacks, and still are. (Especially considering that you’re not working as many hours as you were in pre-pandemic times… not that you couldn’t but because you’re working on not sacrificing your health and well-being for your goals).

But, it’s time to be proactive, and with what your Self Care Saturday reading had to say today, maybe it’s time to sit down with your financial advisor and have a talk about structuring a new plan.

Question
: How can you improve upon the person you are now?

Cosmic Cycles TarotThe Fool –  Be on time and watch your step.  This is about making sure you are aware of what you’re doing, where you’re going, and making sure you’re paying attention to cautionary warnings and other dangers along the way. To improve upon the person you are, make sure to stay aware of what’s going on around you and how you fit into the rhythm of the world.

The High Priestess – Connect more strongly with your inner knowledge and your guides. Have faith when there’s no logical reason to do so, be open to guidance from signs and unusual sources, and allow your inner knowledge to rise up and speak.  More than that… listen and act on that knowledge instead of disregarding it for logic.

The Emperor – Allow the strong and benevolent leader that you are to shine. Sometimes it feels like your dominant nature overwhelmed or “outshone” by Gideon’s, but the truth is that you are simply a different type of dominant. A different type of strength.  A different type of leader. Instead of measuring yourself against those that are more blatant in their approach, allow your own strength to shine in its own unique way and don’t worry about the rest.

I worked on getting some of my orders done today from my week off in the hope of getting enough done that I’m not feeling so much pressure on Monday.

Generosity Is For All

Today’s meditation was skipped because it’s an orders day.  I think I’m going to fit this in as a regular thing, as I’m wondering if it will help me in finding a better balance and not avoiding my meditation if on the days when I am the absolute most busy (Mondays and Thursdays) I just skip the meditation entirely and don’t feel guilty about it.

We’ll give it a try this month and see how it goes.

Good Karma Tarot and Thera-Pets Emotional Support Animal CardsToday’s draw is the Six of Coins, which is traditionally a representation of generosity, sharing, equality, and finding balance through distribution of wealth and/or privilege.

It’s the last of those (distribution of wealth) that I see here in this card.  Between the two figures grows a money tree, and it’s not clear in the imagery who the tree belongs to  Nor is it clear in the imagery who the coin belongs to.  Is it being given from left to right?  Or was it handed over from right to left?

Combined with the Thera-Pets card for today, what I see here is a reminder that generosity isn’t just for others. It’s also for the self.

We, as humans, need a certain amount of self care. It’s a necessity.  This does not make us weak, nor should we be looking at others and being understanding of their needs… and yet harsh with ourselves for our own.  Your needs are just as valid as everyone else’s, so stop beating yourself up for that nap, or meditation, or break, or little extra bit of self care you do for yourself, or want to do but keep fighting against. Be as generous with yourself as you are with others. You deserve that self care and generosity just as much as others do.

Question
: How can I better cope with my times of deep depression?

Conference of the Birds Tarot

Reading Summary: Use that time to learn a new skill that you were passionate enough to write down in your ideas book (Knave of Wands), and lean on others for help (Three of Pentacles). Keep your eye on the prize (Knight of Swords).

Take Away:  Unlike sadness (which is what this question originally referenced), depression is a condition that you can’t just lift yourself out of. It’s something you have to ride out. I my case, it has a distinct pattern to it.  A descent, a brief pause at the bottom of the pit, and then a slow climb back up to normal. This pattern takes about 2-3 months to complete.

The advice here is that during this time, when I realize that the onset and descent is upon me, dip into my ideas book and pick out an idea that I was passionate enough to write down, and begin to explore that skill.   These 2-3 months become “lost time” later, where the entirety of the time is wiped from my memory, but the skills learned will remain like muscle memory.  So in a way, it would be like osmosis.  Like coming out of the depression is “waking up” and while I was “asleep” I learned a new skill.

Added to this is a reminder to ask for help.  Don’t just fall into the depressive pit and forget that others are there to help you in keeping everything going smoothly. All of the responsibility does not need to rest on your shoulders alone, and especially not during times when you’re struggling with depression.

The third piece of advice is about focus. It’s about making sure that I remember that the depression is only temporary, and that it won’t last forever.  Keep moving forward, keep looking for the light.  Keep climbing.  Don’t give up.

Question
: How would you benefit from adding more fun and play into your life?

Good Karma TarotReading Summary:  I would look at running my business in a new light (King of Wands atop Hanged Woman) and build stronger connections with those closest to me (Two of Cups) while still remaining in control of where I want things to go and leading the way for those others in my life to do the same (Queen of Swords).

Take Away: This sounds like such a good idea but I have such a hard block to the whole “Fun and Play” thing that it becomes really hard to view my business in this light, regardless of the fact that I enjoy making jewelry and most everything involved in that.

I understand that changing my perspective will relieve a good deal of stress I carry on my shoulders, though, and give me a deeper connection with those that I work with (my sister and Z).  I’m just not entirely sure how to instill that sense of fun and play into the process without losing track of the control needed to make sure everything gets done and runs smoothly.   Which is where the Queen of Swords comes in, as this card indicates that there is indeed a way to do it and make it work, but it will take some effort and “building of experience” to get there.
