An Ache of Longing
I feel the need
to cling to you
like lichen
clings to the the bark
of branches
and morning dew
clings to blades of grass
the feeling
creating a sense
of vulnerability
as I seek out
your comfort
so long missed
and withheld from its
fullest expression
for a few days longer
Safe and WarmAlthough disappointed
because the weather
warmed so quick
and all the snow
melted away
lickety-split
in the end
you find yourself
grateful for the home
that kept you safe
and the warm bed
that fought off
winter’s chafe
There will be time
again
to play in the snow
another year
Cuddling Weather
Come snuggle with me
under a warm afghan
and let me
tuck my toes
beneath the warmth
of your thigh
as we curl together
on the couch
and watch a movie
about the end
of the world
and become inspired
to create a world
all our own
together

Peace and comfort
and nurturing warmth
slide into place
like a body
fitting in
against another
as arms wrap
to hold close
those most dear
and these moments
linger
in our memories
far into the future
to comfort us
in times of need

of the world
makes everything

Snow melts
and mist rises
to play
like clouds
kissing ground
like your lips
on my skin
tracing over
every inch
to leave the dew
of breath behind
while I stretch
beneath you
and soak in the beauty
of us
Wishes
I wished and wanted
longed for and hoped
and the snow
I desired
fell in droves
but the wind
was too biting
the temps too low
to rush outside
and play in the snow
I stayed inside
and watched it blow
then a sudden shift came
and temperatres rose
ice fell from the sky
to glaze all in sight
and as I looked
out the window
all I can think
is that I’m pretty
damn sure
I never asked
for a skating rink
