Cotton candy
clouds
float by
overhead
painted
in pink hues
and as they
drift by
the breeze
ripples over water
to smudge
reflections
like the blurring
of the energy
within me
Butterfly wings
spread wide
like petals
of dried flowers
as raindrops
play target practice
to try
and shoot
them down
but for every one
that flutters
to the ground
more spread wide
to catch the air
and fly
The stream
is the first
to thaw
after snow falls
off tree branches
and temperatures
start to rise
and while
the world
is still white
lets take
a walk
and enjoy
the crisp air
a little longer
Snow melts
to crystalline bits
of water and ice
and reveals
delicate traces
of what
came before
hardy remnants
that remind us
that spring
will come again
as the world warms
with its
colorful blossoms
and silky petals
The ground
is frozen
and as
snowflakes drift
tiny and light
you warm
my heart,
and as clouds
linger among
mountain tops
and your lips
brush mine
I find that it’s
no longer cold
and my soul
smiles
It falls
in large flakes
with wet plops
melting
even before
it lands
turning the world
into a slush
of mud puddles
and white patches
that everyone
walks around
and I
tromp through
with laughter
in my heart
