Color By Numbers

No poem today, just a confession that I have become addicted to a color by numbers program on my phone.  It helps me to check out for a little while, and assists me in falling asleep at night.

This picture with all the little intricate details at the center of the sunflower, along with it’s vibrant colors, reminds me of that program.

Sometimes I feel guilty that I spend time with that program, but… maybe it’s true that everyone needs a way to just “check out” every once in a while, even if it’s for just a short bit of time now and then.

More Rain Please

The clouds refuse
to wring themselves out
and raindrops
do not fall
and all around
the land turns brown
as the sun
scorches us all
and all I want
is a rainy day
or two or three
or four
to get me through
the months ahead
when that’s all well have
and more

Moments when
we’re at our best
are so few and
far between
that we forget
within the seat of
each breast
lies a soul
shiny and clean
housed within
a temple of flesh
we abuse
and take for granted
while pretending it’s unseen

to the rising sun
for it’s with you
that I belong
and my soul
feels alive
with love

The Sweetest Things

Lazy moments
on a comfortable bed
as big as a playground
Long hours
creating worlds
and stories
of love entertwined
Afternoon naps
and alone time
with Luna
Dappled light
thru northern windows
and the rhythmic purrs
of Luna’s love
and you… us…
you
