Gideon’s Challenge

A little SnowThe Little Bit

No more will come
At least we got some
as little as it was
to play in
a little fun
is better than none
and there was more
up north
for playing
and lots of ice
to slip and slide
as kids play hockey
on frozen ice
as we sit and watched
warm and safe inside

The BearBear Energy

You are
my shelter
and the anchor
within the storm
a piece of peace
that is a balm
to the senses
and makes me
feel safe
with the fierce
possession
of your love
I am yours
always

Fennic FoxThings We Do

Even on the
little errands
you are on
my mind
and some of the
smallest things
will draw
my thoughts
to you
and us
and what we do
together
like pocket foxes
and love stories

Snow DayMore Snow

I want more
of the white stuff
that falls from
the sky
and takes children
out of school
to play
while owners
walk pups
in the park
and kick snow
in the air
for enthusiastic
snapping
and happy yips

Hollow StumpThe Sub-Drop

The ache lives
in the hollow
at the pit
of the stomach
raw and hollow
and filled
with weeping tears
and dripping blood
as the ache
slips to tension
and sadness
slips to despair
and all I need now
is your arms
hold me together
a little longer

Looking BackLooking Back

In autumn
when the corn’s
been harvested
the fields
turn green
while giant clouds
meander
like massive
floating continents
across the sky above
and cast shapes
in light and shadow
upon the distant hills
