Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Forest of Enchantment Tarot - The Hanged Man

Today’s draw is The Hanged Man (Suspension), which is traditionally a representation of taking a pause, considering alternate perspectives, relaxing into difficult situations, surrender, or letting go.

The Suspension card has then been combined with a card from the Messages From the Universe Oracle, which says, “If you are feeling stuck in any area of your life, ask yourself – What is stopping me from leaving? Yes, leaving is scary, but sometimes it is the right step to take. Be brave.”

Yes, it’s true. Sometimes leaving is the best option. Just take care to pause a moment first to make sure you aren’t missing some important factor.

Consider all the perspectives on the situation before you act. In doing so, you ensure that you aren’t overreacting or jumping the gun.

The message in today’s Hanged Man (Suspension) card and affirmation is that if a situation needs leaving behind… DO it. Just make sure it’s really what you want beforehand by examining all the options and angles first.

Oracle Reading with The Faerytale Oracle

Something I want to bring with me into fall

Snow White – A better attitude. Over the last couple of months, your inner negative self talk has gotten out of hand to the point that you’ve been more negative even in your interactions with others.

As fall comes into focus, you want to discard this cloying negativity and foster a better, friendlier, kinder, and more positive attitude. Less the “bitch” and more kindness and care.

A routine or rhythm I want to create for the next season

Puss in Boots – More fun and more humor in the day-to-day, which will hopefully bleed into more enthusiasm for taking on life’s every day challenges.

It’s hard to be enthusiastic for adventure when you’re feeling heavy and down. You want to create a rhythm for yourself that allows you more appreciation for the good stuff, more fun in the moment, and more enthusiasm for life as a result.

Something I’m looking forward to experiencing in the months ahead

The Snow Queen – You are looking forward to a strengthening of the connections between yourself and those around you, and the weeding out of those that don’t have your best interests at heart. As people begin to show their true colors in the next few months, you’ll find it easier to spot those that need to go, and identify those you want to keep close.

Other elements included in this reading:
Dried Cedar Bundle for Protection from Negative Influences
Foraged Red Oak Leaf for Fostering Unconditional Love
Bloodstone for Encouraging Fearlessness
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

Tarot Reading with the Forest of Enchantment Tarot

As an adult, where do I take myself too seriously?

Keeper of Challenges – Remember that feeling twinges of paranoia doesn’t necessarily mean someone is out to get you. Being able to see “three steps ahead” only works if your paranoia doesn’t get in the way and have you chasing shadows.

How can I ease up in this area where I take myself too seriously?

Child of Spells – Focus more on fun and that ever-curious inclination within you, and less on the drudgery of life and responsibilities. Try to see life as more of an adventure and less of a chore. With this more open attitude, even when you have plans in place, you’re more likely to be more congenially adaptable when needed.

Philosophical Question : Am I more of a dreamer or a believer?

Seven of Visions – Both. This is why you often pause to waffle on decisions. You can imagine the potential in each and every choice before you, and that can often create inner conflicts between your dreamer side and the more practical one.

Other elements included in this reading:
Wood burned Squirrel Medallion for Connecting with Curiosity
Honey Calcite for Optimism and Motivational Boost
Flower Agate for Opening the Mind to New Possibilities
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

I remembered to bring my headphones with me today so that I could listen to music instead of political talk and ignore other irritants.

Learning from New Experiences

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long and focused on making the best out of difficult situations.  It was a good theme for Christmas day, as it mentioned gatherings where you can’t always get along with everyone, and times when people are being difficult, and how it’s better to step beyond these experiences and focus on the positive, rather than allowing these negative influences to drag you down and make you miserable.

I don’t have to worry about that as much this year, as I am going to  a friend’s family home for Christmas dinner rather than spending time with my own family, who can be quite abusive even at the best of times.   But, it was still a very good reminder to focus on the good rather than letting the bad niggle in and have a destructive influence on your mood, attitude, or day.

The Hierophant - Tarot of the Little Prince Today’s draw is the Hierophant, which is traditionally a representation of wisdom, institutions, the status quo, and tradition.  It is also a card that represents the dynamics between teacher and student…. and is my birth card.

The appearance of the Hierophant in today’s draw is an indication of the experiences I shared with J’s family.  This is the second year (not in a row) that I’ve attended Christmas dinner at his house, and for me it really is a learning experience.   Their traditions are beautiful, and they are so warm and loving to each other… and to me.

It’s interesting and different and… wonderful.  It is an amazing experience to be a part of something so full of love, warmth, and acceptance.

Question:  Where should I focus my energy over the next year?

Forest of Enchantment Tarot

Reading Summary:  Gratitude and comfort (Ten of Visions), a new approach to business matters (Ace of Boons), and balancing instead of overburdening myself (Ten of Spells).

Take Away:  I need to continue to increase my self care and gratitude practice, allowing myself time to explore the emotional aspects of life rather than ignoring them.  I also need to commit to the new approach to working with the business that I’ve been considering, and focus on balancing the different aspects of my life rather than allowing myself to “overfill my plate” to the point where I’m overwhelmed.

You Have What You Need

Today’s meditation was just over eleven minutes long, and focused on… to be honest?  I don’t remember.  I do remember that when I started the practice that my anxiety was up, and by the time I finished with the meditation my anxiety was back under control, which was really nice.    I just don’t remember whatever the topic was.

Tarot of the Little Prince Today’s draw is a double without a jumper, which means both cards came out of the deck together.  The cards in today’s draw are The Magician and the Five of Swords.

The cards in today’s draw are a reminder that I have all of the skills and tools that I need in order to deal with struggle and conflict.  I just need to remember to utilize my resources in a way that is to my best advantage.

Sometimes when the shit hits the fan we forget that we have what we need to take control and come out on top.  Today’s draw is a reminder that these tools and skills are available to me any time I need them, especially when in the middle of conflict or crisis.

Question: How can I improve my relationship with my spirit in the coming year?

Forest of Enchantment Tarot

Reading Summary: This is an interesting repeat of a previous theme that speaks of taking what you need with you (Seven of Challenges) and removing yourself from difficult situations (Six of Challenges), in order to find a new path and method moving forward (Ace of Challenges).

Take Away:  I have a number of new methods and paths coming up in the coming year including shadow work that I plan to work on, and beginning to explore the mediumship ability that is no longer allowing itself to be ignored.  It will be important in keeping a healthy relationship with my spirit that I don’t forget the lessons and skills I have already learned, as well as keeping in mind that the purpose of these things changes is a positive one, when moving forward into this new beginning.
