Tarot of Tides - The Magician

Today’s draw is The Magician card, which is traditionally a representation of capability, potential, resourcefulness, action, and manifestation. This often translates into themes having to do with being in possession of all of the skills, abilities, and tools necessary to reach one’s goals and accomplish one’s ends. It’s about being capable and skilled, resourceful and gifted with what is needed to get the job done.

I don’t know about other people, but sometimes when I’m faced with conflict, I have the very obvious opportunity to make a conscious choice between engaging in a negative way, or keeping my calm and engaging in a way that will facilitate resolution. And sometimes it is remarkably difficult to choose the latter.

The fact is that when we are irritated or otherwise agitated by a situation, it can at times be hard to be the adult. You want to lash out and express your own emotions, even if they are not going to do a lick of good for the situation at hand.

The message in today’s Magician card and the “conflict” prompt is a reminder that chaos and disturbance does not get resolved by adding in more chaos and disturbance. You have the tools to resolve these situations of conflict if you’re willing to use them wisely instead of going with your first reaction.

#DiscordTarotholicsFeb2026 Challenge
Prompt for February 6th and 7th

Tarot Reading with the Chaos Blossom Tarot and Flower Folklore Oracle

A small piece of comfort you can gift yourself this season.

King Protea and King of Cups – Remember whenever you are craving new things or explore new themes, that your partner is your safe space in which to do this. Especially if you are feeling vulnerable.

Even if there’s no one else you feel safe enough to fully open up to and share all aspects of your true self with, in him you will always be able to do so. He’s not going to judge you, reject you, nor laugh at you… no matter what it is.

(Adding a note here for Gideon: No, I don’t currently have anything in mind. This is about the sense of security and safety I feel with you, with your love, and concerning our relationship.)

Something you can do to bring comfort to those close to you.

Page of Swords and Belladonna – Share more of what you know with those closest to you, a little at a time. They are eager to learn from you whatever you’re willing to share. You have a lot of knowledge and experience to share, but you often hold back out of fear of being seen as a know-it-all, braggart, or in some other negative context.

The fact is, though. Those close to you never see you in this light, and they love it when you share your knowledge and experience with them. It’s okay to not hold back with them and allow yourself to share more freely.

Other elements included in this reading:
Scotch Pine Cone for Purging Negative Influences
Holy Leaves for fostering Strength, Endurance, and Boundaries
Conch Shell Knot for Concentration, Clarity, and Determination
Selenite for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

Tarot Reading with the Tarot of Tides

Reading Summary – Allowing yourself slow progress and a level of nurturing understanding (The Empress) on your journey to learning about your emotions and how to process them (Page of Cups); especially when new emotions pop up that you don’t recognize or have an easy time identifying (Ace of Cups).

Take Away – Most people learn to process and understand their emotions beginning as children. You’re starting this journey late in life, and it’s often confusing and frustrating. It’s difficult to not beat yourself up over slow progress and moments when you have a setback or feel confusion.

Being able to apply the words “I don’t know what this emotion is” seems so obvious in these moments, and yet often alludes you until much later when rehashing an experience.

Remember that it’s okay not to know all the answers, nor be able to identify all the emotions, and that you can still acknowledge them even without putting a name to them.

Other elements included in this reading:
Dried Red Maple Leaf for Adaptability and Connection
Pressed Pansy Flower for Hearing the Heart More Clearly
Rose Quartz for Gentle Kindness to Self and Others
Desert Rose for Purification and drawing in Positive Energy

Daily Self Kindness

I chose to gift my newly trimmed Llewellyn tarot to Gid instead of keeping it for myself. I just wasn’t 100% happy with the trim job. I feel like the art needs -some- kind of border left on it, even if it’s just a thin one. So I’m sending the trimmed deck off to him, and ordering another copy of the deck for myself to try again.
