Slowing Down Time

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long, and was one of the #DailyCalm sessions from the @Calm app.

The Hedgewitch Tarot's The Chariot Card and Forest Meditations Card Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is The Chariot card, which is traditionally a representation of control, willpower, determination, and the strength of purpose to “take the reins” and steer yourself in the path you wish to follow.

Just because you’re holding the reins doesn’t mean you have to move at a lightning pace. Use those reins to pull up, and take some time to enjoy and appreciate the world around you.

When I’m in the forest, I spend a lot of time on the ground. I mean, yeah, I spend a lot of time trekking my way up path and trail as well, but a good portion of the time is also spent laying on the ground, looking at the small things like the moss and the mushroom, the fungi, the lichen, and the little creatures among fallen leaves and forest detritus.

These moments are bonding moments with the earth and the trees, where the world slows down and the heartbeat follows suit.

The message in today’s cards is a reminder that we all need a bit of time in nature. It’s an encouragement to get out and do that. This message is also a reminder that we all need times when the world slows down and we follow along with it to find a moment or two of peace in the chaos… and encouragement to seek that as well. Even better if you can find them both combined into one.

Tarot Reading with the Hedgewitch Tarot and Inner Compass Oracle ReadingWhere can I let go of more force?

Death and Growth – There are times in life where you don’t get to control the changes wrought or the lessons and growth gained. These times are thrust upon you and you must learn to deal. This is one of those times for you.

What new opportunities are already within my reach?

Ten of Wands and Hidden Treasure – The hidden treasure in your current situation is that you are being given the opportunity to restructure how you do things so that you are not so overwhelmed all the time. Don’t push to return things to status quo, or go back to doing things the way you were… take this opportunity to find a better way.

What is an ideal moment of silence for me today?

Six of Cups and Listen – Take small moments out of your day, throughout your day, to listen to the noises of the world outside of the cacophony going on in your head. Discover wonder in the noises in your life that you normally don’t hear or otherwise take for granted, like the sound of kids at recess a few blocks from here and the gratifyingly rhythmic thwack of a hammer sinking nails from workers nearby.

Who Are You Listening To?

Today’s meditation was a ten minute long self-directed session based upon @thelatestkate’s affirmation that says “You’re not obligated to make every day productive or purposeful.”

Strange Forms Tarot Reading with The Latest Kate's AffirmationDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Four of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of one’s passionate love for the security and welcoming energies of home. This often translates into themes that have to do with homecoming, celebrating home and stability, as well as relaxation in comfortable spaces.

It’s okay to take time to just enjoy being home. As a kid, I used to eagerly await my parents heading out to the grocery store or the post office.

It was as if as soon as they were gone, something inside of me immediately released and began to relax. Even if all I did while they were gone was sit on the couch and watch a TV show. It felt like some invisible pressure was lifted for just a little while.

These days? My parents voices live in my head, and there’s no longer those moments of relief when they’re not around or moments of celebrated freedom from the pressure.

The message in today’s cards encourages us to bring these moments back. Remind yourself that it’s okay to ease up on the constant pressure and enjoy just being. Sometimes? That’s enough.

Philosophical Questions for September 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th

Philosophical Questions Tarot Reading with the Little Pigeon Tarot, Earth Woman Tarot, and Bird Vibes Meditation CardsWhat are the 3 major strengths of humanity?

Two of Swords – Free will combined with the intelligence to think through their decisions before acting.

Six of Cups Rx – The ability to forgive and forget. Forgiveness is difficult, and forgetting may not always happen, but it is definitely one of our greatest strengths that we can.

Wheel of Fortune – Adaptability.  The ability to adapt and adjust on the fly, shifting our minds and intentions as needed and learning from those moments.

What is humanity’s biggest accomplishment?

House Finch – Self Awareness. We are not just aware of ourselves, but also aware of how our actions influence others and the world around us. Learning how to be self aware and reflect on ourselves and our actions allows for not just personal growth, but a community minded approach to helping each other as well.

What are the 3 major weaknesses of humanity?

Four of Wands Rx – A lack of appreciation and care for our “home”… as in, the Earth.

Ten of Pentacles Rx – Self-centered greed. This greed isn’t greed for the greater good, but all about the self and the ego.

Wheel of Fortune Rx – Humanity’s wilful lack of adaptability. Although we have the capability to adjust and adapt as needed to situations and changes, we are often resistant to do there, fighting against changes and digging our heels in instead of going with the flow.

What is humanity’s biggest mistake?

Baltimore Oriole – Our focus on creature comforts. This, of course, falls into both that self-centered greed aspect above, as well as the lack of willingness to accept change.

Facing One’s Fears

Today’s meditation was a self directed ten minute session that focused on the affirmation on the back of the Witch Magick card drawn for today.

The affirmation: “Facing and embracing something you fear will supercharge your magickal powers.”

•    •    •    ◈    •    🌾    •    ◈    •    •    •

Complete Armemensen Tarot Reading with the Witch Magick CardsDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is The World card, which is traditionally a representation of the end of a journey, the completion of a time of growth, accomplishment, and transitioning from one path in life to another.

I don’t know about supercharging your magical power, but I do know that facing your fears is empowering. The experience helps to reduce and/or eradicate one’s fear response to whatever it is, and that creates a sense of greater freedom.

This reward is always waiting for us, but is especially important when our fear is an obstacle to completing a journey. Not only are you one step closer to the finish line when you face your fears in these instances, you are also given an energetic lift from the experience that can revitalize you and your motivation.

Today’s messages is a reminder that there is an unseen, but very much felt boon to confronting our fears instead of hiding from them, and encourages us to seek out those fears that have become obstacles to our goals, and face them rather than trying to avoid them. For when we avoid them, we are also avoiding the success they are blocking us from achieving and the goals we seek to accomplish.

Complete Armemensen Tarot Reading with the My Daddy OracleWhat still needs harvesting this season?

You’ve been thinking about returning to be a personal trainer for a while (Trainer). Maybe now is the time to take a closer look at this option. It pays well, and gives you the benefit of having long-term clients (Seven of Pentacles) to work with and interact (Ace of Swords) with instead of a swath of strangers.

GoalDestiny – To find ways to adjust to the unpredictable and unexpected manipulations of the universe. You don’t don’t handle unpredictability well, and there’s been a lot of that of late. It messes with your sense of stability. You need to learn to ease up on your control a bit, so that there’s more wiggle room when things go awry unexpectedly.

Pros Slave – The pros of working toward this goal is that you are no longer tied to the expectation that things are going to go a specific way, and thus thrown off when they don’t. This gives you more adaptability, allowing you to yield more easily when necessary.

Cons Relaxing – The cons involved with this goal is that you struggle with the worry that in releasing that grip of control, you are going to end up falling into habits that are lazy and lackadaisical.

Obstacles Strength and Knight of Cups – you have a tendency to act on what you feel to keep the status quo in your favor, rather than allowing things to go at their own pace and in their own directions. This natural inclination makes it hard for you to just relax, let go, and let things happen.

Solutions Two of Cups and The Sun – Allow those close to you that you trust to help lift you up and keep you positive as you strive to accomplish this goal. They can help distract you from your uncertainty and your discomfort, making it easier to let go of that control without panicking about it.

Crow Affirmations and The Housing Tarot's Page of WandsDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Page of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s willpower, drive, passions, motivation, priorities, values, and principles. This often translates into those that are beginning on a passion project and learning what is needed to start such a journey.

I hate house cleaning. Truly despise it. The thing is though? This attitude creates an issue. The less you clean, the more the dust and disarray buildup. This then results in discontent within those spaces. And, the cycle repeats… and repeats… and so on, building upon itself with each repetition.

I have a housekeeper, yes. But she’s shit on the dusting. I’ve tried to teach her, but she remains shit on the dusting. Now, don’t get me wrong. She’s still worth every penny, because she’s brilliant on the kitchen and bathrooms.

And yet still… the dust is relentless.

Today’s cards are a reminder that the sacred spaces in my home, as well as the sacred space that is my home, are in need of some attention. Perhaps yours is as well? My discontent with these spaces is directly related to their neglect, and the message for today is an encouragement to solve the problem by doing a little cleaning.

Oracle Reading with the Fairytale Oracle and Venelestis Botanical Oracle CollectionHow will your courage be tested this Autumn season?

Forbidden Chamber and Monarch Butterfly (Danaus plexippus) – Call upon yourself to challenge authority. Look at those places where you are toeing the line and blindly obeying instead of thinking things through and stepping outside the box. Like the monarch butterfly, no one can (or should) be dictating your path forward but you.

How will your strength be tested this Autumn season?

True Name and Red Pine Mushroom (Lactarius deliciosus) – It’s only through looking within that you can truly understand your own motivations and hone in on what goals should be taking priority. Looking within is hard, especially when confronting parts of yourself you don’t want to acknowledge or deal with. It’s necessary, though. Stand strong and foster a healthy heart, mind, and soul by taking time this Autumn to suss out those things needing healed or purged.

How will your faith be tested this Autumn season?

Magic Mirror and Trametes versicolor (Turkey Tail Fungus) – All human cells have a limit to how many times they can divide (aka the Hayflick Limit) with the exception of cancer cells, which have no limit to their division and thus no limit to their reproduction.

The negative voice in your head is like cancer cells, and can spread just like a cancer if left unchecked. You have been flirting around the edges of your depression for some time now. Instead of flirting with the edge of that deep dark pit, it’s time to pick up your tools that provide a counterbalance of optimism and positivity and can help you put distance between yourself and that edge.

Three of Pentacles and Ruby Bolete (Hortiboletus rubellus) – Be selective. You’re in a vulnerable moment right now. Make sure that, although it’s necessary to invite others in to lend their help and support, you stick to those that are trustworthy and not going to spring unpleasant surprises on you.

How can I find more joy in the little things?

The Sun atop King of Wands; Beefsteak Fungus (Fistulina hepatica) – Put your formidable willpower into the task of seeking out that joy. This endeavor is not just limited to the positivity and optimism activities that you’re already doing, but needs to reach beyond that into other activities (such as your photography, for example) that give you the same type of positive lift and influence.

The Soul’s Exhale

Today’s meditation was a self directed ten minute session that was focused on a Forest Meditation card, which states, “The Home of Senses” and, in the guidebook, encourages seeking comfort in your surroundings by expanding your senses and letting them guide you, then focusing in on what drew you in the first place.

Forest Meditations and Casanova Tarot's Eight of WandsDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Eight of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of action, speed, alacrity, fast paced events or change, or having a target goal in your sights that you are charging towards.

Where in your life do you feel most at ease? Where is that place where your inner tension eases up and the knot in your solar plexus unfolds? Is it your own home where you find that deep breath for the soul? Is it another house? In the woods? In your car? At the beach?

We all need these moments where we breathe easier and tension falls away. We all have places where we don’t have to work at these moments of peace, but instead it feels almost as if they’re gifted to us.

Today’s message asks us where these places are for you, and encourages visiting them and appreciating them posthaste.

There will always be times when you need that breath of air for the soul and ease of tension. The message for today is an encouragement to identify where these places are, acknowledge what those places gift us, and not to hold back on giving yourself that when you need it.

Second Harvest Oracle Reading with the 100 Dragons Oracle

Amber – Where do I need to work on my emotions to create more balance in my life?

Taco Drake – Your issues with scarcity mean that you’re always grasping for more and never feel like you have enough. This mentality translates to your emotions that you are never enough and can never do good enough. To create more balance in your life, you need to work on easing up on this cycle that your issues with scarcity create.

Cedar – How can I use my present day fortitude to strengthen my future protection?

Pansy Plucker – Even during times when you are struggling and at the end of your rope, make sure that you are continuing to seek out the small pleasures and little joys in life. Being able to bring this positive practice forward with you into the future will help to protect you from the negative self talk in your head.

Marigold – Where should I focus on my health in order to develop a happier outlook?

Metal Nibbler – Pause before you put stuff in your mouth. Work on eating healthier, instead of just grabbing whatever is available and easy. Quick snacks are all well and good until it turns out that that’s all you’re eating all day long. When your diet is balanced, you feel happier and healthier.

Walnut – How can I be more discerning in picking positive friendships?

Teacup Lung – Make sure that those you choose to associate with aren’t adding more drama to your life. Look for those that are there to support you when you need it and care about your well-being, instead of having their own ulterior motives that leave them unconcerned with your struggles.

Sapphire – How can I best discern between logical thought and true wisdom?

Tinker Imp – Play with these thoughts and look at how to apply them to different scenarios in life. Wisdom doesn’t need tinkering, but logic often does.

Yarrow – How can I move from a place of trauma into a place of healing?

Oracle Wyvern – Stay open to working with your ancestors and guides. They are there to help you if you’re open to it, and will come to you when you’re ready if you trust them to step in when needed; but no sooner.

Daily Mental Health Prompt
: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Five of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of pessimism, regrets, doomsday thinking, disappointments, and occasionally, failure (or at the very least, the perception of failure).

I have a tendency to push too hard and expect too much. And, as true as this is in regards to other people and things around me, it’s significantly more so in how I treat myself.

I was raised to understand that “doing your best” requires self sacrifice… and that you should never do less than your best. That means that to do your best is to neglect your own needs for the cause. You put everything you have into the perfection that you are seeking to achieve. And, at the end of the task, you don’t look at what you’ve accomplished with pride, but with modesty and humility. Because secretly you know you could have sacrificed more, and in doing so done better.

This is the mentality I was raised with, and one I still struggle with even now. I know it’s unhealthy, but it’s deeply ingrained and difficult to root out.

The message for today is to take a look at your expectations, especially towards yourself. Where are you pushing so hard that no matter how good you do, it’s never going to be enough? Take time today to examine why you are treating yourself this way, and look at ways to ease up on yourself.

After all, no harvest is perfect. So, consider how you can be happy with your achievements and celebrate them, instead of tearing them down.

: What do you need to focus on for self-care for this month’s New Moon?

Reading Summary: Rest remains your number one focus for this new moon (Four of Swords), as well as making sure that you’re staying connected with those that are important to you and enjoying your time with them (Three of Cups). You have a lot to be thankful for, and you should be enjoying these things instead of torturing yourself with uncompromising expectations (Four of Wands atop King of Swords).

Take Away: Although as time goes on this month, you’re trying to create a little wiggle room, don’t get so wrapped up in it that you forget that you’re supposed to be resting and waiting, not taking action. Don’t become so obsessed with your little experiments that you lose sight of that. Spend time with others that you like and care about, and enjoy their company. Judgment and Maternal – All of them. You carry those lessons forward with you through your life and into death and what comes beyond.

The one that you seem to be most resistant against thus far is your “mother issues”. You may want to get that sorted out before something happens that makes it impossible to do so.

How can I accept myself more as I am?

The Lovers and Natural – Open yourself up to vulnerability in healthy, low risk ways. Instead of discounting those things about yourself that are positive and good (as you have a tendency to do), take time to appreciate them instead. Foster self acceptance by making choices that validate yourself and those areas of vulnerability.

How can I improve my mind-body balance?

The High Priestess and Pacific – Go with the flow of what you know through your intuition, rather than through logic. Sometimes it’s that inner knowing that has the real answers you need, even for the mind and body. When you connect to your intuition and listen to what’s going on on within you, it allows you to gather knowledge that you wouldn’t otherwise have about yourself and your needs.
