The Radiance of Wonder

Today’s meditation was just over twelve minutes long, and was another quiet meditations where I just use breathing exercises and the chime for the piriformis stretching.

White Fly Tarot - Page of CupsToday’s draw is the Page of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s emotions, relationships, creativity, and intuition.

In the imagery of the Page of Cups in this deck, even as the sun sets and darkness creeps in, the figure looks at the cup that they hold with a sense of wonder that lights up the encroaching darkness.  This speaks of how creativity and wonder can make the world and life seem much brighter and far less scary.

Today’s message is an encouragement to instill creativity and imagination into your day today, because when you look at the world with wonder, nothing seems quite so dark.

The #ConnectWithYourDeckChallenge Prompt by E Roebuck-Jones
Questions for July 4th thru 6th

Dixit Card Games Odyssey Expansion PackWhat inspires my creativity?

Top Row – Color, imagination, and a touch of guidance from beyond the veil to help balance everything out. A lion’s share of the inspiration for your creativity lies in these avenues, sparking not just your creativity but also your motivation to explore those ideas that rise to the surface.

What are my creative dreams?

Middle Row – That skills learned in secret will earn you admiration and money is one of the most significant creative dreams you have.  For it is in earning this admiration and money that you then find a way to support yourself through those creative endeavors that you enjoy.

What am I passionate about?

Bottom Row Left – Friendship and the connection, guidance, understanding, and open-mindedness that I feel need to be a part of friendship are all things that I am passionate about. People’s differences, and finding people that you can connect with in spite of those differences is important to me

Bottom Row Center – Fairness  and balance.  My moral compass requires fairness. I am aware that life is not fair, and yet I cannot help that I feel a need for it and expect it regardless of how many times I might be disappointed by not finding it.  I crave the balance that fairness creates and reach for it again and again.

Bottom Row Right – Knowledge.  Knowing yourself and knowing others. Gathering useful knowledge and applying it in one’s life. When we continue to learn and explore, we continue to grow.  I feel that this is an important part of life and, at least for me, something needed to be happy with myself and the world around me.

White Fly TarotWhat needs more exposure in your life?

Four of Cups – Do your meditation. Do your meditation.  Do your meditation.

The Emperor – Buckle down to get the things done that need doing. You’ll need help, but you have the help you need.  They’re more than happy to step in.  So start getting these things done and delegating as needed.

What needs less?

Ten of Cups – Don’t focus so hard on where you are going. You need to enjoy the present.

Ace of Swords – New ideas need to be set on the back burner for a while. You have enough on your plate and don’t need to add more at the moment. Deal with what already needs worked on for now.

Daily Self Kindness

I didn’t really want to because I really wanted more time with Gid today, but I took a nap.  I needed it, I just didn’t really -want- to do it.   And look!  I did meditation two days in a row!

Look On the Bright Side

Today’s meditation was skipped today.

Retro B(arbie) Tarot - Five of CupsToday’s draw is the Five of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of apathy, boredom, a pessimistic mentality, and discontent.

Poor Barbie reading her heartbreak book with tears in her eyes instead of looking at the freedom she has gained in her break-up.  Here we see the epitome of looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Today is orders day and I’m so very not into getting my work done. At the same time?  There were so few orders that I’m chafing at the idea of just how little came in this week.  It’s bad.  Like… real bad.

Today’s card is to look on the bright side.  Stop grousing about the work, and then about the lack of orders.  You’re literally bitching about both sides of the coin here. Turn those complaints around and look at what you still have and what good you can get from the situation.

#DiscordTarotholicsJun2022 Challenge Prompt
Questions for June 2nd thru 4th

Dixit Game Cards v3 JourneyAbout feelings…

Top Row – Others are always watching. Some will be supportive and others won’t. Some will be looking for how they can exploit your vulnerability and growth, and others will be amazed and encouraged. Don’t allow the awareness that others are watching make you close down and cage your emotions out of fear of those with bad intentions.

About friendship…

Center Row – True friends are there with you not just when there are exciting adventures to go on, but also when there’s work to be done. The magic is in finding those that are there for both.

About loneliness…

Bottom Row – Sometimes when your emotions are out of sorts, and you are feeling alone and lonely, you just need to open your eyes and look around. The solution to these feelings is in reach and the others you seek are right there with you.

Because…

The Hierophant and Six of Swords – …you need to not just learn a better way and to try it out, but actually instill it into your life as something that is established and permanent. Not temporary or used only when needed.

Daily Self Kindness

I bought strawberry and white chocolate scones for breakfast today on the way home from the farm.

Self Care Saturday (on Sunday)

SCS

As I mentioned before, these readings are (not usually) bearing in on any one thing or event in my life, as the question used is asking for a more general outlook. This is a self care exercise, and are not meant as a predictive reading.

The question is… What do I need to focus on in the week ahead?

Earth Four of Candles & The Chariot – If I want to meet my physical and monetary goals, it will require seizing the reigns and a higher level of control in the week ahead.

Air The Magician – I have what I need, including the tools and knowledge necessary to succeed in this week’s goals if I make a point of applying these tools and knowledge with focus.

Water Four of Vials – Its time for some down time.  Don’t wait until you are feeling overwhelmed to take a break.

Fire Two of Bells – This card ties into the one previous.  If I’m not caring for my  needs and making good choices for my self care, I will end up feeling scattered and “flaky”.

Moving Away From – Creativity and manifestation of new ideas into reality. Projective nurturing.

Heading Toward – Demands to perform under unpleasant conditions.

Moral of the Story – I am being warned of potential burnout.  Take heed and begin preventative measures.

#7philosophicalreadings (non) VR to Benebell Wen

Recently, Benebell Wen did a video on YouTube that involved a challenge of doing 7 card readings for 7 classical philosophical questions.  I really liked this idea, and so I decided to give it a go.   Most of these questions I already have definitive opinions concerning, but the purpose of this exercise is to set the intention that the cards will know how you would respond deep down on a soul deep level, and thus communicate this in the readings.

I decided to do single card pulls for each question, but as you will see, I ended up with a few jumpers along the way.

The Seven Philosophical Questions:

1. The Trolley Dilemma: (I have linked the title to an outline of what this is if you are not familiar.)  Do you divert the course of nature and kill one to save five, or let nature take its course and let the five die.

IMG_9364The bell indicates I would try to warn all of them involved.  Although this is not something I could do verbally, I would definitely give my all to get the warning out there.  In the end, though, a difficult choice would have to be made.

This is where the spikes on the inside of the bell come in.  Either way, one or many will die.  I would choose the one, and my insides would be torn apart by this choice, probably forever after, just as those spikes are sure to scratch and score the inside of the bell.

I am that son-of-a-bitch that would kill five for someone I care about, though.  Just sayin’.

2. What difficult truth(s) about the human condition are you ignoring?

IMG_9365Sometimes I forget just how vulnerable people can feel.  Like so many, I go through life distracted by my own thoughts and issues and forget that others are dragging their own anchors behind them.  Some people’s anchors are heavier than others, but everyone thinks their own anchor is the heaviest.

In other words?  Everyone has burdens, and those burdens are entirely subjective.  That subjectivity makes it difficult to acknowledge other’s burdens, and impossible to see them in the same light as the one carrying them does.

3. What does it mean to live a good life?

IMG_9366Defeating your demons and protecting the security of your home, friends, and family (or your village of towers) from those demons hidden in the dark.

This boils down to valuing your personal “village”, and working on your shadows and demons so that they do not  crawl out of the dark and destroy everything you hold dear.  We all have deep dark shadows where monsters lie in wait, emotional demons and the creeping shadows of our darker selves linger there.

Unchecked and unacknowledged, these dark entities within ourselves surface and wreak havoc.  To protect what you hold dear, it is important to deal with these demons rather than trying to bury them into a hole they will then try to climb back out of again and again.

4. Where does your self-worth come from?

IMG_9367This card came with a twofold answer for me.   From within… and from the earth.  This is very fitting.

a) From within… I have never really been able to explain where my conviction of self comes from.  My father tried throughout my entire childhood to break me down and build me up into something different.  And yet it never worked.  No matter how hard he tried, I knew who I was and what I wanted, I knew what felt right and where my values resided.  From within, while not really speaking of “why”, does speak of where quite eloquently.

b) From the earth… I have always had a very strong reaction to the earth.  An instant communion with soil and sand, with trees and the green.  It is the balm of my soul in the way water is the balm of my emotions.  Being in nature among the trees and the soil, especially here in the rainforests where things are dark and moist and filled with green, has always been extremely restorative to me.  It lifts me up and centers me into myself. My self worth greatly ties into this, as it is a part of how I identify with my inner self (and the world at large, for that matter) on a very base level.

5. What had existed before our universe was created?

IMG_9368Okay, so this one totally made me laugh, and I think that was the entire point.

No, I don’t think that the card is saying that before the universe was created, angels resided on high.  But, I believe that before our universe was created there was still something greater at work.  An energy of creation, evolution, and balance that in the end gave birth to what we have today, much in the same way that melody is created by the creation, evolution, and balance of notes blending on the air.

6. Are you ethically obligated to improve yourself?

IMG_9369

OOph… man.  The short answer?  Yes.  Look at those cards tho.  Wow.   They are so self explanatory, at least to me.

What I see here is the unpacking of one’s inner self (as life tends to do whether we want it to or not) develops into the discovery of one’s inner demons, and those demons being set loose out into the world.  And, when they are set loose, the world feels dark, and all those carefully erected pieces of your life that you value so much start to topple.

So yes. We are.  Because without self improvement, you are not just at risk of screwing over your own life, but the lives of everyone and everything around you (alllll those dominoes).

7. What is Divinity?

IMG_9370

Divinity is the unlikely vessel that lifts you up and carries you when you are feeling vulnerable and small.  It is the light in the darkness that we must choose to accept or turn away from, and yet even when you turn away from it, it still glows to light the way.  It is the duality of right and wrong, good and bad, man and beast, feminine and masculine, yin and yang… always together, always in motion, always side by side.

Top 5 Decks I Cant Live Without (non)VR To Kelly Bear

I feel like I’ve answered this recently, but I can’t find it.  It’s a bit different than Simon’s “five favorites” as you can pick from any decks you have.  Still, I looked through and couldn’t find it so maybe it’s something I did in my head instead of actually writing down.

2019Top5

This post’s theme was originally created by Kelly Bear on YouTube a few years ago, and she recently did an update (because, well, favorites change over time).  From what I understand she usually does an update to this list yearly for her, we’ll see if I can remember to update it next year.

The way that I’m looking at this question is along the premise of if my house was on fire and I could only choose FIVE decks out of my collection to save, and none of my collection could be replaced for some reason, what five would I grab?

So here are my top five decks that I would  not want to live with out… at this moment.

Tarot of the Hidden Realm – This goes without saying. I’ve mentioned this many times on here that when I opened the box I had a very deep and immediate reaction to these cards the moment I touched them.  They speak to me on a level I’ve never had another deck speak to me before and I can’t see these cards falling off of this list any time soon.

Although… the artist is in the process of working on a second deck, and has already signed a contract with Llewellyn to produce it, so you never know, right?  I’ve seen some of the finished artwork for the deck and it is spectacular.

Blue Owl Lenormand or the 1889 Lenormand – I’m really kind of torn on this one.  The Blue Owl holds a lot of sentimental value for me, but the 1889 Lenormand’s aesthetic really speaks to me.   It would be a hard choice but if my ass was on fire and I had to choose just one, I would probably choose the 1889 primarily because I am currently using it more.

Dixit Decks – You can bet your ass if it came down to it I’d shuffle all ten of the decks I own into one monster deck and call it good.  I love these decks.  They’re actually a card game where you make up stories about the cards and other people have to guess what card you’re making up the story about.  It’s a fun game, but it’s not how I use these cards.    I personally use Dixit cards as an intuitive oracle, and they work really well for me in this way.

The Hanson Roberts Tarot – I find this deck easy on the eyes and exceedingly easy to read.  I also like the card size.  My own copy was purchased pre-owned and is one of the earlier printings of the deck.  This was good for me because it meant the cards were already broken in just a bit, as I find smaller decks are sometimes difficult for me to shuffle straight out of the box until they get broken in a bit.

The Universal Waite in a Tin – No surprise here that my favorite coloring of the deck is by Mary Hanson Roberts.  Although, if they would come out with a Radiant Wise Spirit in a tin?  I might have to change my mind. I chose this deck because of the traditional symbolism in the cards, the coloring, and because it’s IN A TIN.  Got to love a protective shell.  They’re also smaller than a regular tarot deck, which makes them easier to tote around.  Not that I tote around my tarot decks, but if I was reduced to five decks?  I might have to make myself a go-bag and this one would be in it.

I was actually a bit surprised that none of my out of print decks made it onto this list, although I did consider the Tyldwick Tarot. As much as I absolutely love that deck, though, it would fall in at sixth in line, though.  It would kill me to leave it behind because I really love it so much, but it isn’t on this list.   I also considered some of my plant or animal decks or a playing card deck, but they didn’t make it on the list for this time either.
