Melodic Moods Tarot's Three of Wands and Inner Joy OracleDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Three of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of the first active step in a journey, progress towards a goal, and the seizing of opportunities.

Resting is a time of dreaming.

Whether it’s when we sleep or just when we are relaxing, these are times when we unwind and allow our minds to wander… and in the wandering, we see our (sometimes otherwise hidden) wants, as well as the vast myriad of possibilities life has to offer us. In these moments we see that life can be different or more than the narrow path we walk up upon day in and day out.

Today’s message is a reminder that rest and restoration isn’t just good for the body; it’s also often the first step on a new journey into what’s possible.

: What do you need to focus on for self-care for this month’s new moon?

Ogham Grove Oracle ReadingReading Summary: Take some time to work on healing your emotional turmoil and those things that weigh heavily upon you heart (Hawthorn). Seek peace and tranquility by taking time to actually feel your emotions (Fearn), and rise above the chaos instead of allowing it to drag you down. (Holly).

Take Away: You are out of the drop and on the upswing. Don’t allow those things that might rock the boat have sway right now, even if they possibly should be given more weight than you give them.  You need to take this time to heal yourself, and you can’t do that if you’re walking on eggshells trying to appease everyone else in your life.  Instead of doing this, look within at what’s bothering you and put your energy and attention into acknowledging your feelings, then letting these things go.

SUNNY Orange Cat Tarot's Page of Swords and the Wildling Wisdom OracleDaily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Page of Swords, which is traditionally a representation of a receptive omega energy, personality, or person in the area of one’s thoughts, intellect, logic, ambitions, and communication. This often translates into themes that have to do with learning new ways to communicate with others, beginning new educational pursuits, exploring new ideas. and seeking to sate one’s curiosity.

When I spoke to my shrink the last time, while we were discussing the idea of scheduling daily languishing time, my first response was a harsh condemnation about being lazy. In reply, she asked, “Wow, whose voice was that?”

To be clear? It was my father’s voice, but her calling me on it brought into focus the fact that even after years of trying to break free of the negative narratives in my head (which are invariably not my voice at all, but those in my past), it’s still my brain’s initial response when my guard’s down.

All this time, and I’m still learning how to talk to myself with kindness and treat myself as I would treat others.

My shrink would say to this observation that the years I’ve spent trying to be kind to myself and redirect my negative inner narratives is a drop in the bucket compared to how long I’ve had absorbing and learning to allow these narratives to have free reign. And, she’s right. There is no quick fix. I’m still learning.

Today’s message is a reminder to treat yourself with the same kindness, compassion, and understanding that you would give to others. And, to remind yourself daily that this is the goal. It’s a long journey, learning to turn self abuse and self criticism around into something more positive and nurturing, and this is one of the first steps; an essential one that needs to be repeated again and again.

Ancient Animal Wisdom Oracle ReadingWhat do I need in order to feel seen?

Nile Crocodile – To feel seen, you need acceptance without them feeling the need to fix or change things. Especially an acceptance from others that your path is not open to being meddled with by outside opinions, and that just because your path is different than theirs, coexistence is not just still possible but desired.

What role do I often play in a group, and does that reflect who I really am?

Rabbit – You have a tendency to just go with the flow as long as whatever is happening doesn’t conflict with your personal values. If it does, as long as it’s not your own territory in danger, you’ll simple walk away rather than follow. If your territory is involved in some way , you’ll simple walk can be a fierce fighter when backed into a corner. This is all about who you are, and your unwillingness to sacrifice that despite pressures to do so in both large and small ways.

Where do I find it easiest to be myself?

Black Rhino – You find it easiest to be yourself when you’re alone and in your element (whether that’s in the forest, in the garden, or working on a creative project, etc). Being on your own without the push and pull of others on your attention or energy gives you the freedom to be yourself without it feeling like others are vying for  your time or attention, or interfering in some way with your self expression.

Star Maiden Tarot - Eight of PentaclesThe @GlitterbyInk #JulyJoy25 Challenge
Celebration of Joy Prompt for July 20 : Celebration
Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Eight of Pentacles, which is traditionally a representation of hard work, expertise through practice, honing a skill, quality craftsmanship, handicrafts, and manifestations through skill and hard work. The card is often the embodiment of the “practice makes perfect” adage.

How often do you actually celebrate when you finish a task or accomplish something you’ve set up to do, learn, or master? How often do you even acknowledge these things before you’re moving on to focus on the next goal post?

Becoming genuinely good at something takes time and practice. It takes determination to not just develop a skill, but then hone that skill into something special and uniquely yours.

Along the way on this journey, there are many wins and accomplishments. Today’s message ask us if we are celebrating these moments, or are we allowing them to pass us by and regarding them as inconsequential.

Here in today’s message we are encouraged to do the latter. Celebrate your accomplishments… even the small ones. Celebration doesn’t mean that the journey is over, only that you’re having fun along the way and appreciate the process.

Oracle Reading with the Seed to Plate Cards

What have I forgotten that needs to be brought with me upon my path?

Okra – You have been slack in your ancestor work of late, especially in the research side of things. You hold within you that which was carried forward from your ancestors. Don’t let their hidden knowledge from the past be lost.

How can I begin to incorporate that back into my life?

Cauliflower – Put in the work. This journey requires its own space, uncrowded by other encroaching responsibilities. It’s okay that it takes a long time, that’s how it’s meant to be.

Where am I on my path at this time?

Radish – Now is a time of sorting and purging. Take your time, and think things through rather than just winging it. Doing too much at once can end up leading to anxiety.

What should I prepare to harvest at the end of the month?

Ginger – Do the easy stuff first. Don’t lose sight of the fact that your down time is important. Abundance isn’t always the product of hard work; sometimes it’s just that time and the universe is being generous with her gifts.

How do I begin those preparations?

Tomato – Bask in these summer months and what they provide that you desperately need. Don’t allow worry or guilt eat at you, but instead percolate on why you feel guilty, then wash it away to continue enjoying those benefits the summer provides.

Lullaby Tarot's Five of CupsThe @GlitterbyInk #JulyJoy25 Challenge
Celebration of Joy Prompt for July 19 : Openness
Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Five of Cups, which is traditionally a representation of pessimism, regrets, doomsday thinking, disappointments, and occasionally, failure (or at the very least, the perception of failure).

There have been times in my life where I could see nothing but the negative. Even when not in the grip of a depressive episode, I just couldn’t (and very possibly wouldn’t) look beyond my negative perceptions of the world around me or of myself.

This perspective makes life lackluster, and creates a situation where addictive behavior can become a problem; primarily because we’re so starved for any little shred of “feel good” that even the slightest taste of dopamine is worth chasing after.

I’m in a healthier place now. It took a lot of effort to get here, not to mention a good deal of feeling uncomfortably awkward and foolish. It’s so easy to slip back into those old tendencies, too, and yet I continue to work towards something better.

Today’s message is a reminder to be open to the positive, even when it might feel unrealistic or stupid. Look for the positive in negative situations. Find the boon, and accept it alongside the crap. I’m not saying that it’ll make the bad stuff disappear, but if you only focus on the negative, then it’s no surprise that the negative is all you see. Instead, allow yourself to be open to more than that. It’ll take some work, but it’s worth it.

Philosophical Question for July 23
: Do acts of kindness always have a motive?

Tea Leaves and Dreams Oracle ReadingReading Summary: The first thing I note in these cards is the color correlation between the roses in the Heart card and the pink/red hues in the archway of the anchor card. Both surround a golden figure… the heart is golden, and so is the hair of the figure in the anchor card.

These correlations speak of warmth and love as a motivator. The hair of the woman in the anchor card also correlates with the hair of the woman in the Harp card and the large rose in the Wreath card. This connects the central figure to both melancholy and a sense of completeness.

Blue is also a central theme, as it is where the figure in the anchor card headed, and also in the background within the Harp card and in the middle ground of the Heart card. This connection and placement connects melancholy a bit deeper between these three, indicating that that is also a strong motivator.

Take Away: The answer presented in these cards is that even when there is no selfish motivation involved in acts of kindness,  there is still a motive involved. These kindnesses are spurred on by a sense of love and kindness that the people being kind need to spread to others.  Alternately a sense of sadness or pity at another’s situation can create a need to “solve” things for another in some cases. Thus, the motivation in these instances of kindness is either to share love, to help make things better, or a combination of both.

So, in this instance, the cards answer is no. There is no such thing as kindness without motive. It may be an altruistic motive spurred by love or pity, but there is always a motive involved.

PipSpeak Tarot's Le PapeThe @GlitterbyInk #JulyJoy25 Challenge
Celebration of Joy Prompt for July 18 : Confidence
Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is Le Pape (the Hierophant card), which is traditionally a representation of traditions, spiritual guidance, long standing institutions, teachers and guides, and themes that deal with conformity and social norms.

Don’t take for granted the stuff that you know through past experience, no matter if these past experiences are yours or, as is more often the case, someone else’s.

It’s through listening and valuing our experiences and those of our elders and ancestors that we learn what doesn’t work, as well as what does, and even what might be improved on by building upon these past experiences.

Today’s message encourages us to look at those things that we are good at, and to examine their roots. Where did this knowledge come from? Who (or what) deserves our gratitude and thanks, when we consider how we developed this knowledge? Whose footsteps are we following in?

These things, experiences, and people need acknowledgment and respect for having paved the way forward for your own knowledge and skills. The card and prompt combo for today remind us to not discount them out of hand, but to instead include them into our personal narrative of confidence and success.

Revere Prompts for July 16 – 18

Home & Garden Creatures Oracle ReadingWhat in my life deserves special attention and reverence?

Wandering Stones – Remember that mistakes happen for a reason and the bad things in life are something that you learn from. They have value. Each stumble and tumble that you go through is a building block upon how strong you are and the knowledge you hold. They are not random, nor are they the world picking on you. Instead, they are lessons in the development of who you are meant to be and who you want to become.

How can I include more ritual or intention in my day?

Krampus atop Instant Noodle Lung – Bake into your plan the consequences of those times when you take a break, instead of just allowing those consequences to roll up on you and take you by surprise or be something unexpected that needs rectifying.  Consider how your shrink encouraged you to specifically plan time for lazing and languishing rather than fitting it in where you can; you need to also specifically plan in time and leeway for shit to hit the fan when you choose to do something that you know is going have to repercussions.

What simple moments have hidden beauty?

Domestic Twigling atop Kitchen Brownie – Enjoy your food. Sometimes this can be difficult considering how much you eat and how much cooking you do… combined with the fact that you really don’t enjoy cooking all that much, even if it’s a good part of both your life and your spiritual practice. It’s no surprise that you sometimes become bored or burnt out in this area of your life. When things become boring? Start experimenting instead of slacking off. That’s where the fun lives.

The Craft Felt Tarot - Four of WandsThe @GlitterbyInk #JulyJoy25 Challenge
Celebration of Joy Prompt for July 14 : Sharing
Daily Mental Health Prompt: Seek a positive message to carry with you throughout the day and offer perspective.

Today’s draw is the Four of Wands, which is traditionally a representation of one’s passionate love for the security and welcoming energies of home. This often translates into themes that have to do with homecoming, celebrating home and stability, as well as relaxation in comfortable spaces.

Sometimes, I miss living alone. Not that I think it was particularly healthy for me, as I get away with a lot more self-neglect when living alone.

The thing is, though? I don’t live alone. I haven’t for the past 15 years. That’s when L moved in… or rather, more like transferred from our parents house to mine. It was supposed to be temporary; but let’s be honest… it’s totally not temporary. And honestly, even if she moved out there would still be J to contend with, and he spends far more time here than at his own place.

This means that as much as I don’t like sharing my space, I’m stuck with it; and that is a good thing for me.

Sharing space means you look out for each other, care in someway for each other, and learn from each other. There’s truth in the old adage that “sharing is caring” after all. Especially when it comes to sharing one’s space and resources.

The message for today is about the value of sharing your space and resources with others, even when it’s sometimes aggravating as well. This message encourages us to take the time to consider and acknowledge the benefits, especially in those times when you are chafing under the contact with others.

Reclaim Prompts for July 13 – 15

Wild Dreams Animal Oracle ReadingWhat power have I given away that I need to reclaim?

Buffalo atop Bull – You are yielding to the stubbornness of others instead of allowing your own hardheadedness to shine through and take the reins. You will make more progress with your goals and holding strong in your boundaries by reclaiming this power from those you have been handing it over to. Be the bull.

What label(s) have I outgrown?

Octopus – You were once considered a clever child, but you have grown into a wise adult. No one really considers you “clever” in that way you once were labeled. As you have matured, you have grown into being considered “smart” or “wise” instead. You would think that these terms are interchangeable, but they are not.

What would it look like to live more fully as my authentic self?

Monkey – It would be more carefree and fun. This is a side of yourself that you’ve ended up clamping down on as more responsibilities have crowded into your space.
