Seven of Wands – “Depression lies. There is no circumstance that is unchangeable. There is no situation that is ever hopeless.” This was a lesson that was one of the most valuable I ever learned about my depression, and helped me the greatest in combating my suicidal urges during major depressive episodes (and outside of them as well). When you are in the grip of depression, it feels like the misery that you’re experiencing will never end, that the numbness and ache and feelings of loss and uselessness are going to go on forever and ever. It feels like it’s all that you’ve ever known, and all that you will ever experience and that how you feel in that grip of depression is all you will ever be.
In my battle with depression and learning how to live with the condition of alternating Major Depressive Disorder and Dysthymia, one of the greatest weapons in that battle is the understanding that everything is temporary and that depression is a liar. In the grip of my depression, these things become my mantra, a constant reminder as I struggle to stay afloat that it isn’t -always- a struggle and that what I’m feeling will come to an end, that everything I love and enjoy will be there waiting for me to love and enjoy it again once I’ve managed to climb out of depression’s pit.
Today’s cards are a reminder of these tools… and encouragement to not give up. Never give up.

Ten of Wands – Stop using your negative inner narrative to push yourself too hard. You’re allowed to be tired. You’re allowed to take breaks. If others judge you for it? That’s their problem, not yours. You are doing far too much to be treating yourself so harshly in your head right now, so instead of focusing on all the things you aren’t getting done? Focus on how much you –are– getting done.

Today’s meditation was ten minutes long and was focused on the message in today’s cards, which is…
Nine of Pentacles – When you stumble or come up against obstacles and other setbacks, instead of calling yourself a failure or pushing yourself through negative methods, look at all that you have accomplished and remind yourself just how capable you are and just how far you’ve already come. It’s okay to have rough days, just don’t lose sight of the good or the fact that your hard work is still paying off in the end.
